Best TWO finals ever. Hydra won both of the finals, so they won first and second place. Just ignore the real finals. There ya go.

Without fair play any tournament is a joke.
There weren't any winner of this event, but I'm sure that CCP lost the match. They can explain to their sponsors, and the new players what is AT about.

There is nothing CCP can do about such things. It's how Eve is. But just as the highest comodity in Eve is your reputation, this finale and the two corps involved will go down as dishonourable in eve alliance tournament history.
No matter how well they fought during the tournament - they will always be what people bring up as the very low of alliance tournament finals.

There should be more rules in place to prevent people from giving away the win, like in dodgeball how there's a time limit when you pick up the ball that you need to throw it in 5 seconds or so. Make it so they must keep fighting if they can, they can't just sell out and give it up half way through by not doing the damage they could be doing. I suppose then the problem would be how could they enforce that rule and make it so that they can really tell who's trying to throw the match and who's just making bad target calling decisions. I was certain that Outbreak had the match in the bag when they still had all their ships intact with HYDRA RELOADED down to just a few ships, but then it seemed like they stopped doing damage and then just let their ships get blown up by one of the vindicators when Outbreak somehow managed to tank all three in the beginning.

BC of the level this tournament is downgraded and therefore CCP is also,with giving us high expectations on this rigged event.
Sure there is always a chance some of the tournament battles are rigged but the final match come on.

Wonder how CCP is going to get sponsorprices to spread out next year.
It would be nice to hear an official oppinion from CCP.
If they endorse this kind of thing, i think their partners should know about it before they throw laptops and graphicscards at them for free.

Darkside V Outbreak
Hydra V Razor
...and they were all this year.
This was easily the best alliance tournament ever, its left its infancy, until this AT PL was the only team playing the tourney professionally. Now there are so many teams that are playing all aspects of the AT to a top-notch level. Hydra doing spectacularly this year.
Now go back to your level 4 missions and remain quietly ignorant of this game.

I didn't watch the final but if it was really set up (and according to your comment it was) then people comparing the tournament to the world cup finals are correct: although the games leading up to the final are interesting it is the final game that really counts. Which you sold according to comments.
This pretty much kills the meaning of having a tournament so I pretty much understand people saying they won't watch the next tournament.
I won't either.
You make a clear tournament: I might watch it, hell I might even apply to it.
You sell the tournament: you corrupted people can make a private party of yours and give out prizes or whatever you want, we couldn't care less.
Oh, and CSMs. They are the real disappointments of this discussion. |

After reading numerous replies that this is how Eve really is - especially from the ~hard core~ PVP members, I have to disagree...
Outbreak should have destroyed Hydra and then announced how their deal with Hydra is now null and void. Hydra is NOT getting a slice of the winnings of first place, and "Oh yea - thanks for all the help along the way suckers!"
That is Eve - backstabbing, manipulation, and outright thievery.
But that ending, and the various supportive replies just tells an outsider that the cold, harsh gaming universe is more "Hello Kitty" than ever.

Why the hek people discuss politics they don't have a clue?
Ok, every one with two eyes opened not being blind, with half of it's brains active and even drunk saw all the meta game and arrangements here and there witch all agree, wasted a lot of stuff about the tournament or frustrated some of us waiting great fights.
Now you can't blah blah about CCP for giving their personal time to offer all of us this direct show, investing $$ and also to the official commentators ( ) trying to share with all people playing/watching the game this passion we should share.
I had lots of fun watching those matches, hearing the comments and jokes between the power blocks leaders and CCP, hearing and learning stuff about eve/dust directly from CCP dev's and so should you. -internets for U at CCP eh 
Yeah the end was frustrating, I was expecting a hell of a futk!ng match that didn't happened, but it's ok, I still had lots of fun.

Yep, but next year, im not gonna bother, cause this is only fun because of the setting its in. Its a sports event, a tournament. Who wins, how do they win, were they good, were they lucky, why did 1 setup beat the other setup etc. etc.
Now i know that a lot of the games are rigged by metagaming, this is not pitching 2 teams in an arena and only 1 comes out anymore. It just got extremely boring. As a viewer i don't get to see how the metagaming was performed, how long, how hard, how many, etc. etc. so i don't get any entertainment from it, and therefore i don't give a rats ass.
What i do care about is what is presented before me, which is the fight, i can follow it, i can see it from start to finish, i can discuss it with others on equal terms as i saw the same thing they did, etc. etc.
As it is now, it really doesn't matter to talk about who was the better team, cause how many of these matches was rigged ?

Notice how everyone's *****ing about how Hydra and Outbreak did what they did and totally ignoring the fact that PL themselves openly admitted to attempting to metagame the whole thing themselves and no one is throwing hate at them? If you're gonna win tournaments, you need every weapon at your disposal. Then there's Wi., they were 'technically' a second Goonswarm Fed team at the end but no, that's ok, Goon can have two teams in the tourny (technically) because they lost and that makes it fair.

That guy has it right (if he wasn't trolling.) It was a douchey thing to do. Just field identical setups and may the best pilots win.
