No rule, technically, but the spirit of competition was broken. The spirit of "winning" was totally fulfilled, so I guess it's an ethical question of one's character where they fall into this. I heard a lot of claims that alliances were refusing inside info. They wanted to win on their merits. And where were they during the final match? Watching. I don't think that's right.
Yes, yes up to the final it was mostly a competition, but there should be a rule change so it's not so obvious and not so easy to be lame.
Bah. What do I care. I'm not watching anymore. Enjoy the "EVE is EVE" Tourney next year... "To bring order to chaos, one must bring chaos to its knees."

Wait a minute, do you have a fuking idea what you are talking about?
They (HYDRA and Outbreak) were the best performing alliances in this Alliance Tournament. They reached the finals. What are you complaining about? How were they supposed to do the final? Maybe they could've done it better, like not that obvious. Then what? What would be different, the outcome?
If you can not accept what happened (2 brosef alliances, which worked together the whole time winning the AT) then .. i dont know what to say.
Im asking again, what should've been different? Exclude one of the 2 alliances because there are people that know each other? Or maybe run a new AT without them .. rofl. pew-pew |

And I'm so glad that you WON the tournament, and still will not be respected as much as Darkside. and Pandemic Legion will be for their fight.

I'm ****ED the way this turned out. "Shout out to girls that play EVE" That is bull****, us girls can **** your faces WITHOUT having the whole damn thing staged....
TOTAL LETDOWN. I'm still mad 4 hours later..............
Waste of 2 weeks of my life, not so much. But what a let down after all that build up and WAITING..
Yeah ok fine these guys put in the time to get to the finals in the first place. YAY. Not the point. So what, who cares if your name is tarnished by getting beat by some new guys, ITS YOUR GUYS. You should have given us a fight at the very least. THAT WAS TOTAL BS.
The alliance tournament is the only sport I watch, and it's only around once a year! I was so excited that for once PL wasnt going to have a chance to win YET AGAIN, but at least PL wins FAIRLY and doesnt THROW THE MATCH. Get in there and give it your best, sort out the 'winnings' later. ONE OF THE TOP TEN RULES OF A FLEET ENGAGEMENT!!! YOU SHOULD KNOW THEM BY NOW!!!!!!!!!!!! This final was amusing in its own way. Props for hydra and outbreak for setting it all up, from the training in wh space, to the match results leading to the desired final match AND the match results. A brawl would've been entertaining, alright, but the result was funny and entertaining nonetheless. I certainly hope it doesn't become a trend though - for after novelty is gone, it'll no longer be anywhere near as amusing. --

AT9 was fun right until the final match, then it took a swan-dive into the toilet. Never mind the utter douchebaggery on display by both teams; but if you're going to rig a match, at least make it interesting. The ultimate match, the match that was supposed to be the capstone for the entire year, was just lame, and boring, and dumb, and insulting.
The whole point of the Alliance Tournament (I thought) was to highlight small-gang warfare in Eve, but impose rules to make the tourney more "fair": i.e., explicitly to remove the "anything goes" mindset of the sandbox game and make the PvP more sportsmanlike. I fail to see how the "metagaming" aspect is anything other than blatant cheating -- or call it an "exploit" if you want, since it was mainly exploiting a loophole in the rules rather than an outright violation of the rules.
I don't know. If the outcome of the match was never in doubt, why in the hell even do it in the first place? Why not just run out a bunch of noob ships or industrials and give the rubes a show?

funny how games work: one philosophy is to set the bar as high as possible and test honor and stuff like that. The other game is no-game, just take control in whatever corrupt way possible because that is easier and faster than training for the honor thing...
Someone said today was like making the superbowl and then doing a giant FU, throw the game and grief the fans.
Can't argue right or wrong, but I feel ripped off. Sorry so many in EVE just don't get it and are too lazy to find out what they are missing.
We've been given this universe to build the way we want; maybe better than RL? That would be a nice change of pace. But I guess not.

Gonna bite on this one. Laedy is by far the bestest female pvper ever. Her vindicator doesn't afraid of anything.
Love how nobody really seriously listened to the commentators during these finals. Kil2 was dropping hints left right and centre about Outbreak being Hydra's B-team (In fact, I believe he outright stated at least once almost every day when the matches were being held).
I will definitely waste my time watching the grand final on Youtube (since I accidentally passed out 2 hours beforehand from exhaustion), and savouring their victory.

No QQ.
Just lameness.
To get tears from someone you gotta actually have some skill - just a few children thinking they're something special.
They're not special - they lost any respect they had. It's obvious - Hydra and Outbreak lost.
Either CCP Responds or CCP loses its respect from the community too for the Alliance Tourney. ____________________________________________________

Lol they broke the rule of sportsmanship, and when it comes to it, sure you guys dont give a crap, but next year is going to be different, and I would be surprised if EVETV gets half the viewers they did this year. Think CCP will give big prizes next year with this? lol

Total disappointment of a tourney. Perhaps CCP can tell us again what exactly the point is of the tournament? Or is it just for giving hundreds of billions of isk in prizes to the richest alliances and metagamers of EvE?
I'm done watching the farce as well, even with the new rules/ship setups it was boring, almost as much as the thrown fights. |

so much dumb itt.
the tourney was over after the sem-finals. the SEMI-FINALS WERE THE FINALS. Hydra (including Outbreak) did something amazing - they managed to get first and second. that is awesome.
if you didn't realize the semi-finals were the real finals and the final was meaningless, well then you probably feel "cheated." you weren't cheated, however, you just weren't paying attention and missed one of the coolest things to ever go down in AT history.
next time, maybe, you will pay closer attention.
and to those who are bitter that one alliance managed to take first and second, next time, maybe you'll try harder!

Perhaps they should broadcast the earlier matches and leave the finals for eve radio or something, that way the "meta-gamers" can have their fun and we don't have to watch rigged matches.

You didn't have to watch them if you didn't want to, it's not like you were paying for the pleasure of seeing them anyways.

It really feels like this may bring about an end to the alliance tournament for good
the lack of any want to stream/show the preliminary matchs the massive Hours a few dedicated CCP employee's must put in to get this to happen... in the face of seemingly little to no investment by CCP corporate into this "important community event" the corpse like state of giant nerds who host the AT. the horrible meta gaming destroying most of the viewer enjoyment of the tourney and overwhelming negative public sentiment of the whole affair
yeah i predict AT x rip
