its 0:13am over here wich means i didnt get to play for a whole day. and yes there ARE people with RL commitments to fullfil, who cant spent hours playing everyday as they please. (un)fortunatly today was my off day, where i actually had the CHANCE to play. that wouldve been true if cpp wouldnt have come up with this MAJOR screwup.
14hours for a update? you GOT to be kidding! dear cpp employees, heres word you should try to remember on your next attempt to mess with the servers: nightshift
theres plenty of unemployed loan-slaves out there who would willingly get this job done at a appropriate time of the day. but heh, why not simply give it a try, and run an obviously untested update during peak hours instead?

What a bizarre little freak you must be. I want to be hired by CCP? To do what exactly? I work for one of the world's biggest law firms in London - what the hell would I want to go to Iceland for/to do?
Maybe it's you who should go work for CCP - I'm sure you'd have this patch up and running by now. Utter tosspot!
You work for a law firm in London? Why, I'm the Queen of England...it's a pleasure to meet you.

It's not the wrong word at all. Read it again, but attempt to be less of an idiot this time. Never heard of the phrase 'my bad' in regards to placement of blame? |

Shouldn't you be accurate about patch times after 11 years? That's what I thought?! Thanks for ruining my skill plan. I might just unsub tbh
That'll teach you to have any faith in CCP to do anything on the timetables they provide. I set a 10 day training because i knew they would **** something up.

No. GMT is not an astronomical time, it's just an historical name. The astronomical time at longitude 0¦ is UT1.
Today GMT is used in two ways: 1) when subsecond precision is not needed, it refers to any of UT1, UT1R, UT2, UT2R or UTC 2) for historical reasons it's used to refer to UTC when speaking of timezones and legal times (for example when you say BST is GMT+01 you really mean it's UTC+01) --- I don't know! I don't know why I did it, I don't know why I enjoyed it, and I don't know why I'll do it again! Bart Simpson. |

Haha, anything to make it personal, yes?
Compare to expression "my bad". If you are not familiar with it, google it, should you have access to Internet.

eve online: incarna 1.0 deployment downtime extended reported by CCP Spitfire | 2011.06.21 14:06:27 | NEW
EVE Online: Incarna 1.0 is currently being deployed. Database updates took longer than expected, and have performed additional updates to a level one mission arc. This has resulted in an extended downtime. We expect to open Tranquility to the players at 23:30 UTC. Thank you for your understanding.
Understanding? My God CCP has had me up and sitting herefor 10 hours waiting! I have skills training that is not a problem, it is the fact that I am not in there doing missions to earn isk for another plex to keep my second account flying. 10 hours that is a little under 150 mil lost today! I just wish the hell they would just get it done and just give me a few hours to earn something. LOL I am getting tired and that will slow me down. Soo CCP just open the game and let me get to work! If you do then I will have the understanding you say we have, but dont as of now!

It does seem odd to continuously shoot oneself in the foot regarding update times and notifications for every single update. Why not avoid this by overestimation?
If I was the project manager I might be tempted to estimate a release time and date maybe a day or even two after that which I expected all the work and testing to be finished. This way it would be a pleasant surprise when it came out early and exceeded all expectations.
One could even run all the testing, leave the servers ticking over, make a post on the forums about an hour before notifying when it would be back and running. Sit back, have a cuppa and flick the switch knowing it would all be ok (bar mass test effects).
Kinda like the Weather forecasters, just predict constant months of rain and people will be pleasantly surprised. You get it wrong now, so by predicting rain you would still get it wrong when the sun shone but at least people wouldn't be as annoyed with you.

Lol the story could be told the other way around: UTC is actually the abbreviation for "Temps Universel CoordonnT" but the English got all prissy about having to use TUC as the abbreviation - after they won out before when the last great time standard was GMT - based on a location in the UK. So a compromise we reached where the abbreviation UTC was used instead of the more sensible TUC. :D But anyway that was a stupid decision, we should have agreed with the english abbreviation, there's no reason why we should use a meaningless one only because we don't want an english one...
Do the French use "UTC"/"TUC" at all? I thought they were in a different zone alltogether.

I thought the time they chose to pull the servers offline was completely appropriate. While I was either asleep or at work today, the servers were down. I am home now, and the server is backup. Perfect! A night of trying out barbieonline!
Thank you CCP for planning your patches to suit my needs. F*** everyone else.
