CCP. why don't you just extend your expected down time from what you expect 6 to 10 hours later instead. that way people don't get ****ed at you. not like ever deliver a patch or expansion on time. ever. it is always delayed and people all ways get ****ed! get with the program and just give yourself extra time. it will just be a bonus if servers come up early.

Sorry for the dumb question, but how do I download the expansion before it's released? Everytime I open EVE it just says I have an incompatible version, and doesn't let me download it.

its absolutly NOT normal.
We migrated whole Networks from NT4 to W2K with exchange and active directories over different countries in less time and that is ALLWAY much more pain in the ass than patching a ****ing game! Ever...and for allways.
Ah but, you probably got people who know what they're doing !!!

GMT doesn't change, just the clocks change to BST "British Summer Time", which is GMT +1
UTC=GMT all the time

Cant say that i am surprised that it is delayed, BUT what i cant understand is why CCP hasnt learned from previous patches that it is more likely then not that it will be delayed, take youre first "expected to be finish" and add atleast 5hours, if its completed before, ppl will be woot! if not u have a 5 hour margin of ****ups.

There is a useful formula to apply with EVE patch downtime that works on most occasions. Stated Downtime x 2 = Actual Downtime.

im eastern time zone. we are 4 hours apart from eve time so thats about 7:30 for us.
Except UTC does not take into account daylight savings etc, so GMT is +1 hour on UTC. Until the clocks go back later in the year.
And you are wrong GMT has no DST on its own, what you mean is BST (British Summer Time)
"GMT is an absolute time reference & doesn't change with the seasons." "During Daylight Saving Time, London Time is GMT+1, also known as British Summer Time (BST)."
So despite a little offset (under one second) UTC IS GMT. Period.

Painted in softly glowing silvers by the moonlight, her hands folded over her heart, she sighed at me with the slightest edge of desperation, "Why can't we stop time and make this moment last forever, my love?"
To be fair, it was a pretty awesome picnic. Due to some failure in my upbringing, I had no idea that fish could be so moist and delicious.
Her time was up, though, so I just laughed at her, "It's 21:30. I need to go fly a fake space ship, baby. I ain't got no more time for your crap."
I walked away as she shriveled up into a quivering ball of tears, and I smiled to myself. I totally pwned her. Not only did I pwn her, I would suffer no retribution from CONCORD, and she would find no solace from allies. It was one of life's few perfect moments.
The last thing I said to her as I got in my car, leaving her alone in that moonlit field with no way to get home was my deepest, most heartfelt, "Yarr!"
I'm pretty sure she was moved.

Guys, am I only one who sees the good part of this?
They used to edit their announcement of DT, now they actually have a thread that tracks how they fail each time in DT expectations.

well, first expected was 17:00 (or was it 19) anyway, 07:00 - 17 (19) is 10-12 hours u can really think that that has a 5 hour margin on it.

Because then you'ed get all the complaints from people who come online to log on at the quoted time and find out they could have logged on x hours earlier :) Adding the extra hours and not telling anyone and not bringing the game back until then, thats a different matter. And based on CCP's track record of updates probably justified.

Some interesting (or not) facts about UTC. UTC is actually the abbreviation for Co-ordinated Universal Time but the French got all prissy about having to use CUT as the abbreviation - after they lost out before when the last great time standard was GMT - based on a location in the UK. So a compromise we reached where the abbreviation UTC was used instead of the more sensible CUT.
UTC and GMT are NOT the same. For applications where sub second time synchronization is not required they can be considered equivalent but because UTC contains leap seconds (sometimes the last minute of a day contains 61 seconds and not 60 to bring it back into line with the mean solar day)GMT and UTC are not exactly the same.

GMT doesn't have daylight savings time added. Durning daylight savings time the time zone of the UK is called BST (British Summer Time).
For all practical purposes here UTC and GMT are the same.

What I find really funny about all this, is people blaming CCP. But why not blame yourself for not anticipating that this would/could/should happend. I would guess many of you who ***** and moan on the forum are people who havent experienced the old patch times from Everquest for instance, now there were long patches.
So to all the euros go to bed, have sex with your wife or girlfriend if you have any. For the US people, good luck on playing when it gets up, lets hope your boot.ini wont disappear.
