to all the MORONS using LAPTOPS with INTEGRATED graphics: GET A REAL MACHINE TO PLAY EVE ON!! I run incarna just fine on my AMD quadcore running on a radeon 5770 in eyefinity across 3 22" lcds. no laptop with the exception of maybe a cgi workstation has an INTEGRATED gpu that is gonna handle incarna well. laptops in general with the exception of a few highend machines that cost an arm and 3 legs are not designed for playing games like eve. dont get hardware that cant handle this then complain when you cant use it when its your fault in the first place.

ASUS G60VX has 4gb ram dual core and GTX260M, that is by far over the spec and runs Crysis 1 and 2 fine.
Broken incarna, affects CCP's bread and butter.

I'm a little confused at the massive, and I do mean truly frightening levels, of people who are having issues with the top of line of GPUs. I guess I am the sole person in EVE not experiencing problems. I picked up a crappy little 430 for about 70 bucks USD two weeks ago and I have zero problems with CQ (4gigs of ram, Athalon II cpu). Runs nice at 50ish FPS with almost maxed settings (no AA) and the little bit of clunk in the movements I'd attribute to poor movement code. Something is rotten in the state of internet spaceships.

I do have a good enough computer to run incarna, but there's no way I want it to sound like a vacuum cleaner while staying docked for hours.

You're an arrogant fool.
Congrats on your e-peen triple monitor setup, nobody cares (for Eve? really? lol) Now try & realize that said laptops worked fine before this worthless, cosmetic-only update.
Those users now have a forced downgrade, since turning off the new station rubbish presents a static screen. No ship, no nothing, just a worthless JPEG.
Aka, for people without 10 square feet of desk and piles of money to frivolously waste... An ~800 MB download to get a WORSE user interface. Excellent.

This guy speaks the truth.
All these people complaining.. they are suffering from one of the following.
Lack of air flow/Dust Poor quality PSU Unrealistic Expectations (CQ is REALLY tough on your gpu, you might not think it is doing much but trust me there is a LOT of physx in there and is quite sophisticated)
Like i said in my last post;
Running the following
i7-950 @4.3Ghz 2x GTX 460's (OC'd by 20%!)
Running eve at 5280x1050 - 2x2 SSAA + 8xQ MSAA with max in game settings (hdr etc)
You know my temps in CQ? Both GPU's never go above 75 degrees celsius...
No problem here.

That's fine? That is borked up.
Funny I have around the same and it works fine with multiple clients open at max settings.

Sadly I have. A dialog box pops up entitled "Outdated graphics card detected" with the main message of the dialog box being "Shader Model 3 (SM3) support is needed to run this game. Click OK to close the game client."
This dialog pops up during the client loading process. The splash screen is there but that's it. There is no way that the client progresses as far as actually running to get the login screen.

Oh. I thought the transition process for SM3 was already over. My understanding is that now you hard-core absolutely-need SM3 to run at all.
I could be wrong.

I hate to tell you dude but your graphics card is really old. I just upgraded from 2 ati 4870's and they were two years old. You can get a 4870 now for about 100 bucks. Reccommend atleast upgrading to a vid card that has atleast 1gb of ram.

I tried it, it doesn't work. If you have an outdated card you cant open the game, even with safemode

The fix is easy get a better video card! I am making $10 an hr working part time and it would take less then one pay check to buy a new video card like the GTX 560 (around $200), which will handle most games out their at max gfx now and well into the future. If your not working then get your fat nerdy ass out and find a job, or stop *****ing about your crap video card being unable to run incarna.
If you find your current card over hearing inable V-sync (vertical Sync) to cap the FPS at 60.
Now there isent that an easy fix?

Please think before posting.
I have an Nvidia 560TI, 1 GB DDR5.
At maximum settings with Incarna in Captain's Quarters, I get between 15-30 FPS. If I turn the settings all the way down, I get 30FPS.
So please, do some research. Even the high end cards are struggling. Before Incarna I could get 200FPS, which I still see out of station.

MMO's need broad appeal and broad accessibility to be viable. Pretty moot point, that.
OP is a douche and a failure if he's any older than 22-23 and/or not in school. Just calling it like it is.
I have enough money to buy a new machine, but I'd rather spend it on things that matter to me because hey, rl is fun.
I supported Incarna until I couldn't log in. It's just too much trouble. Cancelling the subs and coming back when I feel like putting up with it.

Edited by: Thomas Q on 23/06/2011 18:57:27 I have a intel Quad core, and a radeon 5870. Incarna costing me about 10 C degrees more on my card then incursion.. Especially in space, it's a very noticable difference. My guess is this will be fixed with patches, seems to me there is little reason for it to be so much heavier, other then not perfectly tuned code :)

Well I agree with the OP, there are people out there with 5 year old PC's that can run this game fine. So why are yours over heating and such? 1)Is it because your too ****ing lazy to clean it out once in a while? Dust can make the heat, sinks less effective in cooling. 2)Or is it because you have to have e-pwn and over clock the **** out of your PC then ***** when it cant run games properly?
You people need to get a grip on reality and stop flaming this person because he speaks the truth.

Actually my laptop has an ati 4350HD and it runs one client just fine (heat wise) definitely a bit jerky compared to what it should be but I get some jerky slow frames even in space if I forget and leave AA on or something. It never did very well with more than one client so most of the time i don't even try..

I see you're missing the point.
I have a 18 month-old PC with 8GB RAM, a Core i5-750 for a CPU and an ATI HD5870 as my GPU. Yes it runs incarna as smooth as butter v-synced at 60 FPS, but in the meantime it is very busy cooking my motherboard. GPU temp hits ~70C after about 5 minutes of CQ and they keep climbing even as the drivers boost the cards Fan RPM.
It can take the heat for quite some time sure, but Crysis 1 running with everything set to Ultra and 24x FSAA generates less heat even during action-heavy combat situations than CQ does while essentially IDLE. Crysis 2, being the red-headed stepchild of it's predecessor generates even less heat.
