Also, the "ranged damage" event in sites now hurts drones as well. So if you've been relying on your swarm of little robot friends to complete sites at no risk to themselves: We fooled you! KABLAM!
Sure thing. Our deadspace sites can fire an event that damages a player. This is used in some scripted explosions, damage clouds, etc. Well, turns out there's been a bug in the system where only player ships were damaged. Player drones, however, were ignored by the event. So drones could just fly straight into the heart of a damage cloud, pop target, and fly out. This has been altered, so now the little drone buddies are affected just the same.
Not that this is only a change to a scripted event used in some deadspace and mission sites. Drones in the wider world have not been altered.

Was it really necessarily to remove my post commenting that I feel sorry that this devblog came out in the middle of all this?
that was an accidental deletion. The forum software reuses the same post numbers, which sometimes results in a post being deleted unintentionally.
"Sometimes"? How about 3 times? Sorry, mate, we're not that stupid.
And this was deleted?

They are treated with the same magic math as player ships. Drones have simply been added to the Event's whitelist.

Agreed on the writing, love it when people are clever writers AND are telling me something I want to hear. Thanks for these fixes, appreciated.

Edited by: The Offerer on 23/06/2011 19:43:03 To be on topic (and because it looks like he's the only one that is willing to communicate with players)... a question for CCP BDO:
In a mission Recon (3 of 3) there once was a green gas cloud environment. After Carbon UI patch it disappeared, but the damage was properly applied anyway. Was this covered/fixed by these changes?

So, drones will all instapop at the end of Damsel in Distress if they are left out?
Also, why are ICE mining lasers making the same noise of the roids lasers now?

Thanks, this way #1 on my list of unexplained patch note mysteries.
I was so afraid to lose my precious drones I (* shudder *) even started using missiles.

Good blog, good change, hard work on parts of the game that sorely needed them. I really feel for the good people at CCP that got their work ruined by few, possibly endangering their livelihood... * Sig file does not follow sig file rules, please do not use for personal attacks - Fallout -- This was the time, CCP was still CCP, it was good.

You, sir, are a tard... You GOT the "Bare Facts" in the Change log (You DID read that, RIGHT?) This was a very well written, light hearted attempt to provide some background... to kinda "flesh out" the changes. Please, return to sitting in the corner and mumbling "they broke it, they broke it..." Someone will be along presently to take you back to your cage.
To Big Not-So-Dumb but unwilling-MeatShield :) I have 1 more little question about Drones... You are NOT saying that ships shooting at Me will damage the drones, right? Gathering Aggro is STILL the way to go, correct?

NPC targeting has not been changed. Damage directed at the player's ship only will only hurt the ship.

Is the magic math related to the magic programming that produced meltdown in CQ, or is it perhaps related to the magic decision to make all but the high end hardware obsolete? --------------------- Countdown to sub running out: 9 |
