Quote: And finally, last release BFF made the dark, bloody murder world just a little brighter and more awesome with the agent division change.
So, is it intentional that all the Starter Profession agents are Distribution division for each faction, e.g. the Advanced combat agent?
Any idea on if pirate tutorial agents will get added or will we always continue to spawn new players as Do-gooder Empire dwellers who have to Let The Evil Out one pod at a time? Stink like unwashed Eagle, Mind of Tomato Paste. |

We're aware of the starter agents all being listed as Distribution. We're looking into it.
Pirate starting agents and areas do pop up in brainstorming every so often, but we have no real plans for these at this time.

What the **** is this? Seriously? A Dev blog? This could and should have been written in 3 lines as an update in a patch note. Instead we have to read some over-dramatised ****ing bull**** to sift out the 3 pieces of information that is relevant. I'm ****ing ****ed off reading **** like this.
Time was when a dev blog was something that was a rush to read, now its just ****ing bull**** like this. A disgrace.

I'll be honest, the real root of the issue is how pathetic Incarna is, and with nothing new on the horizon for 1-2 years at least, and after a veritable drought of content of fixes in the past, seeing dev blogs as uselessly **** as this adds fuel to the fire.
Not to mention, why waste our time reading through this narrative when you can deliver the information people need in 3 lines? Info****ingtainment, we don't want infotainment, we just want the information.
There was a time when dev blogs gave glimpses of the future for the community to look forward to. Now it's just garbage like this and another nth iteration of 'life in the QA department'.

Yo BDO, keep making Eve less terrible! I support you, your mission and your motives!
Also, uh, feel free to light a fire under the butt of the people who wrote that newsletter to come clean about it. I mean this is Eve, we love forum drama, not coming clean right away is the best way to generate ever more of it. Remember OWN Alliance? Oh you don't? TEST trolled them out of existence, that would be why.
Anyway, Team BFF 4 rulers of Eve. You guys rock and are doing superlative work.

Edited by: Buzzmong on 24/06/2011 20:31:20 Good changes and an interesting devblog. Nice one BDO.
I have a question regarding the items in the new Plot DeviceÖ:
Previously you could blitz the missions by simply buying the needed items off the market/contracts (and in the case of some missions, getting in a fast MWD'ing frigate to trigger spawns and warp out before aggro) and handing in those bought items instead of the ones in the spawn container.
As the mission item is now tied to the spawn container, will mean we can no longer blitz the smash and grab style missions in the same way? --------------------------------- Go Web! Go! |

Wow, still Dev replies and we're already on page 5.
CCP BDO, you rock!!!
I got a question a little of topic also if you don't mind, please?
Your first reply on page 1 is:
Originally by: CCP Big Dumb Object Oh, hey cool, my devblog came out.
Now as I always try to get the bigger picture (excellence and that), how does this work, if you are allowed to answer this? What is the usual time-frame for a Devblog. How is the Schedule for writing it, getting it reviewed, it being published and so on? How much time are you expected to have for answering (babysitting) these comment threads? How much is it encouraged? How do you get informed when a blog is being published and have you any influence (making it more convenient to fit into your own work-schedule). Essentially, what is the culture around Devblogs from a Devs/CCP's point of view?
Cheers!

Kinda funny that CCP employees find the time to be all over this topic but not other ones that might actually need their input. Odd indeed.

Good work on the Dev Blog, and whatever has been said, some of us appreciate your presentation.
ITT for the rest of you: Content would suck if it was written by people with no sense of humor, and a clinical perspective on everything.
I wish I could be more enthusiastic, but the last few days has drained me, and I only laughed and smiled while I was reading your blog, which was followed by a sinking depression as I read half the responses here, and finally posted.
A lot of off-topic responses here, which have nothing to do with your blog or work. I am glad to hear that the bizarre environment effects are taken care of. Nasty bit of business that. Everything else sounds cool too.
Thx

Good to see the jamming frequency was reduced, but it seems to have introduced a new bug.
Sometimes during a mission/belt with jamming NPC's, you will see a jamming countdown when no NPC is attempting to jam you. (Note: they are not failing to jam, as this will still happen when they're all dead). Not gamebreaking, but still annoying.
Otherwise, keep up the good work!

Different Devs are responsible for different areas. Also, the Devs sticking their heads into the other threads is like one of those shooting games at carnivals. Pretty much lining themselves up to be shot down by a number of emo-raging people. Used to work as a forum mod for SOE, so I know the drill. It's nothing personal, just the most effective way to handling things (getting involved gives people a target for their anger).
That being said, nice blog BDO. Very entertaining, I'd probably read it just for its entertainment factor alone Good work and keep the fixes coming mate ---------------------------------

No need to reinvent the spinny round thing, eh?
"Plot device" predates MacGuffin by a bunch, and is a larger category that contains MacGuffins.
I guess it's still a better name than its predecessor in mute cinema, "weenie", eh? |

Edited by: Sylthi on 01/07/2011 15:47:24 Good job on making Eve a slight tad less random and crappy. It's good to know that at least a few of you are at least TRYING to earn the salaries we pay you.
Please keep fixing the thousands of broken things around here. Maybe with continued efforts from the few remaining REAL devs that actually WORK on shyt like these problems we may eventually (read: circa 2025) have a product worth the money we pay for it.
Cheers. *

Still looking for ANYTHING positive out of Incarna.
STILL FAILING.
I do have to concede that the last couple of patchs seems to have helped a LITTLE with the crazylag - I'm now only seeing gate jump times, undock, and dock in the half again to DOUBLE pre-Incarna range instead of the 3-5 TIMES of the initial Incarna patch. On the other hand, could be reduced load on my ISP now that the local college is out for the summer......
