Honestly, after the response on these forums... I wouldn't want to help out.
Yeah, fine, lots of folks don't like the changes. I get it. So you post a thread (or two, or ten) and communicate with CCP and see if you can come to an agreement.
This crap here on the forums? That isn't even remotely constructive. 150 pages of, more or less, I hate you guys and I hope the company dies. Yeah... That's sure to get them on your side. Throw in some real-life threats... Demand that somebody loses their job...
If I was working at CCP I'd be thinking You know what? Fsck you guys. Aurum for everything!
Seriously. I think the feedback on these forums passed helpful a long time ago... Shot right past opinionated... Left angry in the dust... Gave not helping a wave on the way by... And sailed straight off into the land of hateful.
At this point I'd have a hell of a time finding an official CCP response in this morass.

ITT: no realization that CCP also has an Atlanta office and it's only 12:25.
Also, it's 16:25 in Iceland and will continue to be light outside well toward 03:00.

olvel your totally missing the point. ccp shouldnt be worried about ppl posting the forum.
they should worry that ppl stop posting in the forum and just dont logon more. their customers are actually trying to HELP ccp from destroying what they have buildt.
because they still CARE.
if they announce bull**** answers and not hard cold answers ppl will stop post...and the only thing ccp will get is less and less paying customers.
and no matter how much u troll or spam or type onliners about that money talks.

Fortunately its they that need us on their side. If your working for CCP then your priority first and foremost is to the customer that pays your wages. No players means they will all likely lose their jobs as the company goes bankrupt. To keep people onside (even the ones raging) they needed to explain the situation and quash all hate mongering. Leaving it this long was a BAAAD idea, just makes people more and more angry.
If you think they just go "**** them" then you dont understand how a business works. Even if they dont care, they need to make people believe they do to achieve their own ends.

I think Iceland is more relevant than Atlanta because of Hilmer. Let's face it.. isnt WOD being built in Atlanta -_-.

DUDE
DID YOU REALLY read that thread? There was some AMAZINGLY productive and CONSTRUCTIVE conversations there, there have been SO MANY great posts here about how to move on, and what to do next. There is very little actual "HATE" until you get to the last 30 pages or so, which devolved into just trolling.
FFS quit labeling anyone unhappy as a ****ing ******, try to read things before you post.
yeah, I'm mad, I'm mad at CCP, I'm mad at folks like you posting nonsense.

i'm sure they're going to say something as vague and weak as possible, and then leave it for the weekend and see if you guys are still mad on monday
then they might give you some free SP to calm you down. probably a free (worthless) ship in a few weeks. that's the kind of things that have been done and have worked in the past, no reason to think the average customer has gotten any smarter or acquired any integrity since then

No, I'm not missing the point.
I've had my Quality Improvement training for the year. I understand quite well that people who complain are better than folks who just don't come back.
Like I said - "So you post a thread (or two, or ten) and communicate with CCP and see if you can come to an agreement."
But that stopped happening a day or two ago. And when CCP finally did get around to responding (Yes, it was a long time coming. No, it was not a substantive response.) they're greeted with outright hostility.
Go look at that request for parley thread... How much of the response in there is even remotely constructive?
It looks more like a lynching than folks trying to help CCP correct mistakes.

Nearly everyone has something constructive to say, it just comes with a pinch of rage. By the way that thread was started last night, so no not a few days ago. It took them that long to respond and they barely answered any questions and the key one that everyone was asking was just ignored. We were told we would get a response today but still no sign of it.
Please stop thinking that anyone criticizing CCP at the moment is a troll because they arent (not all). People care passionately about the future of the game and feel they can make an impact by voicing their concerns.

DID YOU read it? it is VERY constructive, start over at page one, ignore the **** at the end of it.
It wasn't let me romance your nether regions while I tell you how I feel, but it wasn't hostile.

"Go look at that request for parley thread... How much of the response in there is even remotely constructive?"
how much of what CCP posted there was remotely constructive?
"i have no answers for you"
"i can't decide anything, i'm just a mouthpiece"
"i won't tell you who wrote that. i'm not throwing them to the wolves (you)"
"i'm still reading"
"i'm still reading"
"i'm still reading"
"i can't (won't) answer your questions about RMT and Eve"
what did they think that would get them? a gift basket and some thank you cards?

They were probably told not to interact with customers until the blog gets released. Besides if they were to post on the forums what could they possibly say to resolve the situation?
I suppose that they could say that only vanity items will be for sales for AUR, but if that was the case they'd have said it already and avoided all the heat they are now getting.

Pfft. The devs have it easy. They just write the code they're told to.
If I was in PR I'd be hiding under a desk somewhere.

I think the real rage in those other tread(titans?) is that CCP Pann started OFF not even acknowledging the newsletter. As fast as folks were posting, it was like page 10 before she acknowledge it was real (to be fair probably replied within 2 minutes lol but pages were building in blocks of 5 at that time).
And she focused on the prices of the Aurum as the biggest issue.. which set people off.
If the original message had been a bit more direct, addressed the newsletter, and then had a few more replies to the AUR question rather than dodging it for 120 pages.. the repeat posters wouldnt never have started. Its ok to say.. we cant answer that till tomorrow.

"Actually, we both need each-other. No players means no EVE, sure. But no EVE means no players."
i don't know about some of the basement dwellers here with 30 accounts or whatever, but i'm betting these guys need a job more than i "need" eve. there are tons of games in the world, this is just one of them. and not the one made by the smartest person or made with the most love or made the best either

In the world of systems analyst, that is true. Devs just right the code..it's the game designers that create concept and set goals. If they are called Devs also then it doesn't matter. Seems everyone at CCP is a Dev or GM. ----- CCP exhibits an alcoholic personality...please read |

Yeah thats correct. But I imagine there be DEV's who also play EVE, who love their company and their game, who are frustrated about all of this. As you said, they just write the code, and cant make business decisions like a manager/ceo can. If I was a DEV, I guess I would want to be vocal about it, but probably had to shut up because not wanting to get fired or whatever.

If they'd listened in the first place we wouldn't be where we are right now. It's pretty sad when you have to **** up forums/media all over the place to get them some bad PR...just so they'll listen.
"the bottom line is in jeopardy, we better do something now"
I care about the long-term future of eve as much as the devs do. They created something unique, something great.
The bitter vets have been bitter for a long while, and just when things seem they can't get any worse this whole new slew of crap comes out.
