Hi there,
I just tried to find a Thread offering a List with all Ships, that have to be redesigned, and i dont mean just a new Skin, rather its the Model of the Ship, that has to be changed.
So here is my Opinion:
Scorpion (done)
Maller (done)
Caldari
Moa (whole new Model needed - maybe something Triangular)
Osprey (whole new Model Needed)
Raven - (whole new Model Neede)
Minmatar
Probe - (whole new model needed)
Cyclone - (new model needed)
Tempest - (new model needed)
Would be my suggestions.
Feel free to Make your additional Points.
But please dont troll this thread and dont mention already said things over and over again

I am sorry to say that the lopsided raven is possibly one of my favorite ship designs as what the scorpion which is already replaced.

In my opinion the list for ship redesigns needs to be:
Caldari
#1 Moa (Complete redesign)
#2 Raven (Complete redesign)
#3 Osprey (Complete redesign)
#4 Caracal (Graphical update)
Most of the other ships need graphical updates as well, especially everything of Minmatar origin. The Moa and the Raven are probably the ships in most dire need of an overhaul.
BTW: I already had a thread for these kinds of suggestions, if you'd looked a little longer you might have just been able to use that rather than cluttering the forums further.

I like the Cyclone/Tempest models as they are and they don't need to be changed.
Moa/Osprey are strong contenders for new models, and so are also the Amarr Prophecy: fat pigeon anyone?
Edit: add the Gallente Exequror to the list.

I wasn't talking about completely replacing the minmatar models, as has been done with both the Scorpion class and the Maller Class, I was simply talking about a graphical update to make them look a little more realistic.
I also have thought for a long while that the Prophecy needs to be redesigned.

While I agree with the Moa and Raven re-designs, I'm hoping they'll give each race a little love. With that in mind, I'm REALLY hoping they redo the look of the Cyclone or Tempest, and yes the Exequror could use some help. I'm also not a big fan of the Brutix or Dominix, though I know those both have fans of the designs. I also think it'd be most beneficial to redesign the models that have multiple tech types.

You know, I used to think a lot of ships needed redesigns. Especially the Vexor and Dominix, which looked like paper wrapped around oddly shaped rocks.
Then I put my graphics on high and saw all the texture parts of the texture skins, now the only thing I think needs a redesign is the Scythe

Tempest - Oh my god so ugly! Please use the tornado model for this. Its just logsided and annoying.
Typhoon - Not much better but kinda fits the personality... slapped together, suits its stats as well ;)
Cyclone - The back-end looks good, but the front end could use a bit of remodeling, personally I'd just say angle it move, make it look more sleek at the front, more like a heavy stabber (with whiskers ;) )
Stabber - Either remove the random engine hanging off from one side, or add another one on the other side to balance it. That random engine hanging off drives me crazy!
Probe - Yeah, its ugly.
To be honest, the minmatar shuttle is an awesome cruiser hull if you sized it up loads and added some turrets, looks awesome.
Amarr
Zealot - Again, just remove the bit hanging off from one side.
Gal
Domi - Aka the flying snotball. Ugh..
Thorax - Just make the hull centralised, please.
Caldari
Raven - Its just too damm ugly, do what you did to the scorp please.
Rohk - Just needs some features, looks more like a transport to me. Just too bland.
Moa - Ugh.... sort it, anything please.
Osprey - Same again, looks like someone doodled on a beermat while drunk and they went with it.
Just a few there ;)
Was looking at these that really put me off, I blame the ugly ships for making me play WarHammer online when I could of been playing EvE ;)

PS: Having no fly experience with other then Amarr ships I can say that the raven should get an updated look. The rokh though... I like it.

Oh neat! lets suggest CCP prioritize ship graphics, cause we all know how important that is to them right now. In chronological order of the past 2 years for the art department / janitorial team
1. T3 ships (just awesome looking)
2. Scorpion ( <-- when they said they were to start updating ship graphics about Feb 2010)
3. Primae (awesome)
4. Reskinned Noctis
5. Maller
In between we go the Zephyr, Echelon, planets updated, and Barbie in Space locked into one room. Lets not forget the art contest or 2 where CCP would use player submited content to at some point in EVE (with no date set) and 1.5 months before last expansion release, we find out they updated Turrets of all things when you can't even really see turrets unless you zoom in and no one suggested that unless you consider the whines to make missile launchers have turrets.
So, recap: In 1.5 years since they admited that T3 was a huge update to the graphic engine and the scorpion was the first we got to gander at, they remolded exactly one old ship recently the Maller and a handful of special event ships that spawn a 2 week orgy of destruction while people fly and get them popped before the novelty wears off with the Primae being outed by standard industrials in effectiveness, the Noctis was just reskined, and the Echeleon has no real use as standard T1 scan ships with code breakers work while the Zephyr at least has NPC stealth ability when it probes in wormholes.
And everyone gets exited at the thought, when I at least expected CCP to start releasing half a dozen models each expansion since the Scorpion was changed. Perhaps with the dozen other Nullsec threads now pinned in the Suggested Feature we are giving a clue where CCP's priorities are right now, we can expect with good odds possibly one christmas gift ship by the end of the year and a dozen new over priced NeX clothing items if the art department has enough time between stripping and waxing the floors.

Yeah, I am really bitter. One ship released last expansion and the turrets no one asked for!!! We can see CCP is concerned more with DUST and Worlds of Darkness while using EVE as the test bed for pretty vampire graphics, walking in station will only be useful in Jita which will lag like crazy while no one will frequent the other thousands of little used stations through out EVE.

Both the maller and scorpion updates where done by one guy as a side project (his own free time). He also had a raven ready but that was deemed not good enough by CCP.

please stretch the Avatar and Wyvern. They look like they had a couple titan sized trucks smash them on both sides. they just look out of proportion

Every single ship in the game needs to be updated to some degree. Some ships just need a slight addition added to it with updated textures like the Maller. Overall the same ship but just a little different. Some of the ships need complete overhauls because they not only look ******ed (Raven) but they also look completely different from every other ship of that race. Even pirate faction ships like Sansha ships need to be updated. Spikes...fine...but stop making them look like last nights dinner floating in my toilet.
Releasing one ship per expansion is annoying. Get it done. All of them and just release them all at once. I am sure there are other things the art team needs to work on but half assing one thing while working full boar on something else is just stupid. FINISH one thing before you start another.
Also...for the love of God and all that is holy...make stations 20 times bigger! And update the textures on those too. Stations are way too freaking small. They almost look idiotic with several capital ships undocking from them.

Oh, then you confirm that CCP doesnt have the time or care enough to bother improving old ship graphics, even thought they said they would start improving all of them in a slow process 1 expansion at a time. Thanks CCP! You are the best!
To the guy doing the model remakes on your own time, hope you are getting compensated for working off the clock!

I'm kinda looking forward to see what they do with capitals and super capitals when they come to re-skinning / updating the models. The Phoenix looks really boring, and would love to see my fav Naglfar get sexed up texture and extra details, more gun ports!

The Celestis is in dire need of complete remodelling, as urgently as the Moa.
The Incursus and Megathron hulls are two of the baddest-ass looking ships in the game. They maybe could do with a reskin (what ship couldn't?), but leave their models alone.

Moa for sure Hahaha NEW MODEL
But I like the Raven, although it could do with a texture update. The shape is quite nice once you get used to it but the surface detail is pretty bad.. especially on the top.
The Caracal would look better if the side arms were more spread out instead of at a right-angle. But that's just my opinion. And the colour of the Manticore, Golem, and Raptor is sh*t.. please change it! |

Change for changes sake? beauty is in the eye of the beholder, most of those ships you mention look pretty damn good imo some shiney crisp new models with better details and higher res textures would be lovely, but there is no real reason to rework them all from the ground up. |
