Greetings fellow capsuleers,
It has come to my attention that many of you are cancelling subscriptions over the recent microtransaction/Incarna events. Maybe you are coming back in a few months to check things out, maybe you are not.
Maybe you want a stable return rate on your cash and you're not quitting at all?
This is not a giant "can I have your stuff" post. I am offering a holding company designed to safely invest and increase your funds so that you have a higher stockpile of money should you choose to return.
I offer a rate of return of 4% per month, I am very confident that I can use your isk to make more than that, profiting for myself and for yourself. My methodology is market trading.
I will offer to keep your account open for as long or short as you like, with immediate withdraw of all or total funds available to you at any time. Your account fund amount will be available upon request and you can watch your isk grow while you don't pay your subscription if you wish.
To get in b4 I have never done this before, it is true this is my first attempt at any serious investment. I have played eve for several years and have tried to learn the market, however only recently have I been active and making nice returns. You don't have to be quitting to take advantage of this offer either!
So don't let your cancelled subscription sit idle! I can make use of it and everyone wins.

Your business model lacks one fundamental ingredient.
Trust.
Whats to stop you from running off with the money? How can we trust you? Why are you posting with an alt?

This is not an alt. My other character that I use for PVP and junk is Redloc.
The reason you can trust me is I have nothing to lose if I honestly invest this money. I've never bought or sold any characters and I intend to continue being a trustworthy person in the EvE universe.
Yes, you may find a forum post where I had a dispute with a corp member almost a year ago, he was my RL friend and we had a falling out. Just want to throw that out there before someone digs it up. But it has nothing to do with 'scamming' people, which I will never do.
Thank you for your good luck wishes! I only need sound thinking and some solid investors however

I will hold your isk/assets charging only a 10% holding fee per year.
In the worst-case scenario I might charge 1 plex a month from all combined customers together as additional expense. Characters can be parked in my personal corp with 0% tax rate.

Edited by: Omniwing on 27/06/2011 15:15:54 Okay, haha, lets tear apart the guy because of his word choice. What I mean by that is I will make a good profit just investing this money and giving it back, I have no reason to scam and I want to begin an honest business within EvE. The people who make the most money are those that people trust, and you have to start somewhere.
I am sorry that I can not provide some type of guarantee, but I give you my word that this is not a scam. "Your word is all you're going on here?" Yes. I realize many of you think I'm lying but I am not.
This is a legitimate business and a legitimate investment opportunity.
The poster above is CHARGING you money to hold your assets...obviously a joke. You will *build* your assets with me which will be available to you in a greater amount should you choose to come back.

Yeah cause trusted MD members have never scammed here before... Oh wait...
The trusted people here have already had/have a successful business/service running and have proven up to a certain amount that they can be trusted.
Why would you scam? Because you have nothing to lose. Even if you got 1b isk out of this, you still got isk and lost nothing. If you want to start a business maybe you should try something that doesn't involve people giving all their isk to a person who has very little significant posting history on the forums.

Well I am open to suggestions on how to make this more trustworthy, or provide at least some kind of a guarantee.
I have to start somewhere - why not invest 50m, wait 2 months and then come get it back?
In any case, I am interested in making this *work*. Again, if there are some steps I can take to make this more comfortable for people, I will investigate those.
Thank you for reading.

Well at least it isn't the worst.
I realize some of you are attacking me because you think I am a scammer. I can understand your rage. This is not a scam.
How do I safely invest. I have two main things I do, PI(not extraction, but conversation of materials) this is done over a long period of time, with products stored up from good buy orders and then refined and sold when the price point is right. Secondly, I buy and resell items in a few different regions, mostly mission loot and ammo, obviously at a good margin. I have got the hang of making long term investments come to fruition and I understand how I can effectively use more cash.
There aren't any "marks", I am not going to steal anything from anyone.

How can you guarantee "price points to be right" or "good buy orders" to be fulfilled or not to suffer loss during transports?
There is no such thing as safe investment, advertising an investment like this as such is a dishonest act, therefore you are fail. |

@Previous
Uh, actually, its really east to make returns as long as you don't expect them to be absolutely insane, but even a numbskull can figure out how to buy and sell stuff pretty easily... if your argument against me is "trading is so hard, you'll never be able to get 5% + of your investment back each month" then sorry, YOU are the failure, because that is pretty easy to do. There are such things as safe investments. If you take something like cruise missiles and they've been selling for around 170 isk for the past 12 months, and you buy at 45isk and sell at 169, YOU'RE NOT GOING TO LOSE YOUR INVESTMENT. The worst thing that can happen is you don't buy your 45 isk missiles, but don't worry, someone always sells. Basically, last post is a troll. This is not dishonest.
Now if you add in spreadsheets, and all of the market tools available, yes, it gets even easier!
Also you mentioned transport, I rarely transport items, and if I did, I know how to do it correctly which makes your chances of losing your shipment near zip. But that point isn't really important.
This is not freaking dishonest guys, I am legitimately trying to start a legitimate business here, won't someone give me a chance?

This reads like a terrible "Can I haz your stuff" attempt.
What happens to the stuff of the people who aren't coming back?
Also, if they are not planning to come back what advantage does 4% more money in a game they no longer play confer them, even if we assumed you to be legit (which we dont).

Please don't speak for other people. As you are not them.
If someone doesn't come back, then their money continues to grow while I hold onto it, for an indefinite amount of time. I will not assume any investment is 'given up' or 'forfeited' unless someone specifically contacted me and said "I'm never coming back, you can HAVE this isk", but otherwise, no, it will just be a chunk of money that I use to invest, and even if they came back after 5 years, they would get it plus a ton more back.

So you are saying that no matter the amount of isk you got, and for how long, you would be able to make 4% on in a month without fail?
What happens if you quit, get sick, make a bad call, etc?
I assume this is compound interest, yes?
What is your personal fortune, and what proof do you have of it? Someone so talented must surely have trollions of isk by now.

I am not going to quit or get sick and die. What happens if any of these people on MD get sick and die? Making a bad call isn't really applicable as you can pretty much buy safe...If an item were to crash in price, there are tons of others I am also buying at good prices.
Yes, the interest is compound, and yes, I believe I can keep it up. I think I'd have to reach a rather large sum before maintaining that would be impossible.

Don't know why everyone's hating this idea so much. Yes there's a chance it's a scam but you have that with any investment. It's actually not a bad idea. Honestly, %50(and that's a generous estimate) of the people that invest with him arent going to be coming back to the game so worst case scenario it's treated like an insurance company in that the people that return get paid with the money that will be uncollected because the owner doesn't return.
The only way he gets screwed is if more than %50 of the investors return at the same time and want to collect their isk. I would feel a little better if he agrees to use RL money through PLEX's to cover any investment he's unable to pay out but, again, it's just a verbal agreement which doesnt mean much in eve.
I feel like eve turns everyone in to distrustful cynics, but I guess when experiences tend to keep proving you cynics right I should maybe take a hint.

Thank you, Taser, for your reasonable words.
I promise that I will pay out and use my own isk to pay out to investors if everyone withdraws at once. I promise if I get a lot of investments and the compound 4% becomes too much to handle, that I will close off further deposits and attempt to return investments to those who I can reach and attempt to grow/hold investments for those who have not returned to the best of my ability.
Since I can not hold it forever, I have decided on a once per year contact basis. If you are a cancel person, once per 13 months you must contact me to let me know you may return someday. If I receive no communication for you for 13 months, your deposit will be assumed as forfeit *but I will give it back if I can if you come back*. However I must protect the active investor's money first.
Is this reasonable? I can revise it.

Edited by: Liberty Eternal on 30/06/2011 17:21:25 Sorry Omniwing, I've been away on business the last couple days and only just been able to log in to the server. I'll send isk now.
Edit: Wait wtf, you're closing it down? Isk sent to Tawny's private offer instead.

If contract records and stuff are kept for that long, I'd be happy to post a screenshot if you don't believe me.
Look, I realize you people have no reason to trust me. I apologize for being so stupid about this. I am closing all deposits, and I am officially ending this investment opportunity. I am going to work on my investments with my own money and provide updates here for your viewing enjoyment.
Thanks for viewing. I hope in the future I can work with some of you.
You were given sufficient tips on how to safely persue this type of thing. You demonstrated more than enough reasons a person shouldn't invest in you, if anyone does invest in you... Frankly they deserve to be scammed unless they personally know you.

I am not correct about what? That you've been given multiple tips on how to get people to invest in you, that you've demonstrated why people shouldn't invest in you(refusal of putting up collateral or submit to an audit), or that a person deserves to be scammed if they sent you isk in this attempt at getting an investor?
Would you like to know why no one trusted you? Maybe you should review this thread from an investors point of view, however seeing as you have no relevant history regarding investing I find this will be a challenge for you. I may not invest in complete strangers but I can at least tell when I'd be ,to put it politely, a fool to invest in a certain person.
If you can't comprehend what needed steps you'll need to fulfil before anyone considers investing any serious amount of isk in you then you'll have many more fail threads like this in the future and we'll have just as many laughs at your pitiful attempts.

Looks like after today's devblog, there's a lot less reasons for people to be quitting now. This is an interesting thread though. Is anyone in MD actually still unsubbing?

And me posting angry posts doesn't have any bearing on people's "future investments". If anything, it just shows that I put forth my honest feelings on these boards and not some fake persona or image.

I must be missing all the emorage loan/bond/ipos that were successful... The only 'argument' you've presented is that you're a complete nobody who wanted players leaving to give you their stuff with nothing to secure that you'd give it back. Only thing you gave in terms of a securement was that they can trust you

If you weren't illiterate you would realize that in multiple of my responses I've stated how you could have succeeded at this in a small sense instead you decided to get butt damaged.
As for me replying to nobodies, if that's an attempt at an insult you're insulting a majority of the MD community who have help nobodies who're getting started with trading and not trying to scam. I was trying to be genuine with help you, the day you manage to have a successful business using your horrible little business strategy here is the day I buy and give a monocle out for free!

I have taken the feedback and certainly have learned from the experience. Unfortunately your 'helpful tips' were riddled with insults and anger, as you hold the incorrect opinion that I am a scammer or dishonest. Choosing illiterate is a poor insult against me, if anything else I have obviously been reading the replies.
All I tried to do is defend myself from people hurling anger towards me, and I didn't even do anything wrong. Seriously, all I did is come on here with an (apparently) bad idea, and you, and the entire MD community decided to chew me up and spit me out, and you *continued* to do this after I apologized for not thinking this out more before I posted it and closing deposits. And I admit, I am a sensitive person. So yes. I was a little frustrated.

Are sure you are playing the right game for you ?
If you wanna make a pause from eve because of this all "bad blood" towards you, you can contract me your stuff and ill trade with it and give you 15% interest every month.
And when you return you'll be richer. -------------------------------------------------

One thing that nobody is really bringing up here is that there is no demand for this kind of service... Is that because there is actually a demand, or is it that everyone is having too much fun bashing the OP to bring up the fact that there is no demand?
I believe there is little/no demand for this sort of thing, however...
I'll offer this service legitimately at 2% fixed interest (non-compounding) / month within reasonable amounts of ISK. It's much less than OPs offer, but I also have considerably more reputation. (If there is actually interest in this sort of thing, I'd need obviously to discuss it with my current investors before moving into this sort of business, as I am currently holding 6B uncollateralized ISK.)

I'm on both boats. However is such a service was proposed and implemented properly I could see it being successful.

I have an extended period of time I will be absent from eve so a service like this might actually interest people who will knowingly be away from eve for a while.

Aside from my 'insults and anger' I've hurled, my points stand. If you want this kind of service to be successful you're going to need to have some form of collateral put up or have an audit completed to determine if you could use funds given to you properly.
If you can't handle people treating you poorly don't give them fuel for the fire(example: Showing their insults are getting to you, AKA Don't feed the troll(s)). If all I wanted to do in this thread was bash you I wouldn't have even bothered re-iterating things you could have done to make this have a chance of being successful. If you have been successful with your available funds trading now an audit would have confirmed this and then you might have actually got an investment from somebody.

That is fair. I do appreciate your points. I am still trading on my own of course so perhaps sometime soon I can look into getting an audit.
