I will keep protesting until the meeting.
But how CCP handles this meeting will make or break the company. If this is just the CSM going to get preached too and fed Metrics and research and not listened too. And that They will proceed forward regardless. Thats the end of the road for CCP.
And we can all laugh about out how a bankers logic ruined something else.

Rouge, I have no doubt the CSM meeting is a stalling tactic & will result in further muddying the waters & PR from CCP.
One look at how well the CSM were kept in the loop for the last year should tell you that.
CCP is buying time, simple as that.
In a week things will have settled down a bit here & alot of players that are leaving will be gone.
In two weeks more will be gone & in 2 months most of us that are leaving will be absent leaving the way wide open for CCP Alts & Fanbois to have free reign.
Then it's welcome to the new EvE, the only people left will be people CCP knows it has by the balls & will swallow any BS they decide is ' best for the game!', from there it's a slippery slope to p2w.
I'm just glad I won't be here to see it!
EvE was a great game & I'm glad I had some time in the game before it all went to hell.
CCP showing dedicated EvE players the 'DOOR' since June 21st. 2011.

OP, thank you for clarifying that for us, I really was wondering how the CCP/CSM meeting would affect things. My money was on everybody getting a pink pony, but obviously you had to ruin that for me.

Don't be so arrogant as to think that less that 2% of the eve population can decide the fate of it's future. Even if every single one of the people who claimed to have unsubbed actually did, it would be a blip. A blip. No more, no less.
And after 6 years in this game and seeing these theatrics over and over and over again, I know that almost no one will actually stay unsubbed.
So please leave the drama behind and wait and see.
I suppose I should call you a name and find some quip to make you rage now, but I'm just too tired
I'll just leave it at that.

A blip worth over a million dollars a year. That will not be made back by the Nex store.
And ccp does not have the base player numbers for the nex store to make them the money they are dreaming of in 1000 dollar pants. If other examples given show only 5% of a base spending real money.
Thats peoples jobs, even worse if CCP is that hard up for money its a huge blow if they are already in the read to banks that might want to loan them money.

Over a million? Has it really crossed the 6.5k unsub mark?

Yes CCP is going to spend over 1 THOUSAND USD on flight PER CSM member on short notice to stall..... Righhht
There is controversy then there is just stupid. Yes it will affect a great deal but we don't need conspiracy theories. If you have unsubbed you can always resub later.

How will that buy time?
There are two outcomes I see having a possibility of happening:
a) CCP meets CSM, CSM tells them we don't want non-vanity RMT, maybe CCP tries to persuade them it's a good thing, CSM responds to that by telling them to stop being ****ing ******s because we don't want RMT to affect gameplay. CCP accepts this and changes any plans they had about introducing non-vanity AUR items. EVE lives happily ever after
b) CCP meets CSM, doesn't agree to not put gameplay changing RMT in EVE, CSM tells them that it's going to kill EVE, CCP is convinced it won't. CSM returns and tells us everything. 60% of playerbase doesn't renew subs, EVE, DUST, and WOD dies. The End.
I would like to hold out for the possibility that CCP never intended to actually implement gameplay affecting RMT items, but their silence on the issue is pretty much solid proof that they were planning to do that, but are now having second thoughts what with all the community backlash.

Euros pay more then US prices. The over a million is based on USD, the euro rate with the average amount is about 850k euros. It is probably higher since there are those that unsubbed but did not tell anyone on a forum.
That they called int CSM to fly to iceland shows that they need to do something and that there is a big enough problem to pay to fly them there. But I worry they will try to use it as a way to put one over on us. Or lie to them. And 3 months later they introduce Nex mods and ships.

what would be the point in stalling for 3 months if they were going to do as you described? if they truly were going to do that, that would simply just happen. why waste thousands of dollars, plus the time it takes dealing with the csm? it costs more than just plane tickets.

You dont know how PR and propaganda work do you.
Famous stars are winded and dined at companies expenses just to get good PR.
In vegas lots of stars get free rooms just to they can say the star stays there when in town for another example.

I have the feeling most people will stay - or some back after a while. How many people have REALLY quit and biomassed their character and gave away their stuff? Not a lot! They have their friends, their ISK and SP and it's not like that there's plenty of good alternatives available.

I don't want this game to die, I want it to succeed. I my myself am not part of the protests but I am keeping a close eye on whether CCP will come forward and directly say no MT beyond vanity items. if they can't do so, well I am afraid that will factor heavily when I decide to renew my subscription next time.
I approve of protesters who are passionate for their game and want to see go in a positive direction. I do NOT approve of protesters who just want to get at CCP and actually hope and want to be right just so they can be vindicated (an "I told u so attitude").
During this whole event I have seen both. Let us not get out of hand and become the latter category. |

Based off the average sub price and the known number is 4800 others said 5000. Thats about 900000 based on usd. If you realize the euro rate is higher plus unknowns it can jump over 1 mil. Not to mention the numbers we dont know about. And subs paid with plex. CCP might be hemorrhaging a lot of money all told in the near future.

Where did you get that they are already in the red?
They are going to lose a good chunk of money from the poor way they handled all of this for sure, but the fact remains that eve had a very healthy subscriber base before this expansion. They may lose a few thousand subscribers over this expansion, but to be honest most of the people leaving because of this were probably already bored of the game anyways. Eve will carry on and as long as they address the issues that have been brought up, and make a promise not to implement MT's that give players a direct IG advantage, Eve will continue to grow and prosper.
I don't mind all the e-whining that has taken over the forums since the expansion. Yes for the most part it's exaggerated and idiotic, but at least it will make sure that CCP doesn't make the same mistake in the future and for that reason alone it's worth it.

This meting will make or break the CSM.
I suspect most players think CSM are nothing more the a PR exercise for CCP.
Well this is there time to prove that wrong.
If nothing changes after this meeting with CSM then it will effectively kill the CSM once and for all.
If however we see change then its gives the CSM creditability that they have been missing.
I for one hope the CSM are successful.
Whilst I suspect that some members are in it for the freebies (those who have yet spoken in the last few days) others I believe do care for the well being of the entire game and not just the aspect that effect themselves.
