I had that idea as well, but I think my corp name explains it all really. Updated mine a bit, still wrong in some areas but possible attempts at new stuff. And yes, I realize there are a few spelling errors.

The problem is: I, and I'm sure a lot of other players, use this map while eve is open. Flash + Eve = not a healthy combination.
Righteous Fury's is the best so far, imo. I like the clean font and the addition of region names. Maybe add some (different colored... yellow maybe?) dots to indicate infamous choke points for those not familiar (A2, HED, PF, P3EN, etc). I'm sure there's enough diplomacy gurus here to help him get the map polished quite nicely. ---------------------------

Edited by: LNX Flocki on 22/02/2005 23:32:12 Righteous Fury is my favourite. Map looks clean, fonts are easy to read and the borders are very clearly drawn. Great work imho.
One suggestion: make the legend smaller (it doesn't change anyway) and the relations box larger and a tad more detailed. Like splitting NAP and allied and maybe add a small box in front of the alliance names with their individual color code (that'd look cool i guess).

Originally by: Ticondrius I like Ichabod's, however, BoB can't really put any claim to Delve anymore...they seem to have vanished as of a week or so ago, along with many other EVE players. As of this moment, FA controls all stations in Delve and is resettling.
Yes of course we're not bothering with the Delve stations atm. We're busy camping the Core systems 23/7. We'll take care of Delve once we're done with Core ;). It's not like there are any players in Delve at all anyway (at least not EU timezone which is what I play in).

for me Righteous Fury's map is the best so far its nice and clear, easy going on the eye (well more aesthetically pleasing than the others that have come forward) and well...afaik current(?) but then thats what these maps are for so no hope empire dwellers like me have a bit of a clue as to whats happening in the wider universe

I vote for Righteous furry
+ easy to read, good color choices, etc
- shrink the map legend, number the warzones on the map and on the war list, put "Stain, Xetic and ATUK" under allied forces
nice map! :)

:squint: I swear, the goat ASKED me to do it! I'm in the process of adding the numbers to see how it'll look, not sure if I'm going to keep it as the warzones are pretty self-explanitory.
Originally by: LNX Flocki One suggestion: make the legend smaller (it doesn't change anyway) and the relations box larger and a tad more detailed. Like splitting NAP and allied and maybe add a small box in front of the alliance names with their individual color code (that'd look cool i guess).
Split up the box, added some more detailed information (not 100% correct I'm sure, it'll do until the winner is decided). I'd add the color codes, but some of them are quite similar due to the fact that I was having trouble with colors of the same shade looking nearly the same when 25% visible.
Originally by: Xeriuz 3.actual map as in the stars themselfs can be brighter, abit unclear.
Upped the contrast, stars should be a bit more visible now. To be honest I'm not really interested in making sure that specific systems are claimed properly, knowing which region belongs to who is more important. I've tried to be as accurate as possible, but I know I've given some people a bit more (or less) in terms of area just from trying to fit everything, so I apologize for that.
I'll keep updating as I think of stuff to add, I think my entry is nearly complete though.

I'm trying to make it look as much like Quarath's as I can, but I *so* wish I had a copy of his PSD to see how he does some of his tricks...
For example, I haven't come up with a decent way of making those stripes yet, so Great Wildlands inhabitants will just have to bear with me until I figure it out.

Edited by: Grim on 23/02/2005 04:53:38 Almost all of you left out, G and Imperium are shared space now as we are controlling the same space.... Please if you map make, you must read the foums on a daily basis to keep up and research with alliance movements, naps and wars. Example. If you read the post on the link below you would see that most of you are not current with the events.

Quote: From a long way back and would need completely redeveloping, maybe 4 weeks to bring up to speed given my current time constraints (very easy for me to update with any changes thereafter though).
Best map yet, just nees to be updates, maybe key or legend always on display.

No offense, but this thread is to determine who should continue the mapmaking process. Style is what matters here, not content. Once a winner is decided upon, then accuracy will be the priority.

Bored. Updated my map again to reflect G/Imp shared space (hypocritical, why yes I am) and added warzone icons. I'd like feedback on the icons, to be honest I don't think they're all that helpful but several people have suggested them, thoughts? My opinion is that they just clutter the map that's already filled with names and colors.

Yay, my turn for an update.
Linkage
Changed since the WIP:
- brightened the stars a bit, as well as a few alliance names - numbered the skulls and added warzones, NAPs and treaties - fixed Curse to SE and Detorid to ATUK - added stripes to G/IMP and Keiretsu/Foundation - added Coalition of Empires
As far as the design goes, I would say my map is now complete. Content is another thing, but as Righteous says, that's not the focus just yet.

Any chance you could make the colours more defined?
I'm colour blind and find it extremely difficult to differentiate between your alliances colours (most just look shades of blue).
One thing Quarath always made sure he had was definite colours that could be easily distinguished.
Tis the best map imo so far though.

In the interest of precision, a small remark. I noticed that some of you potential official mapmakers mark CVA space as including two distinct parts of Providence. Please check ingame map with sovereignity set and you'll see in fact we claim just one of those. I wouldn't mind if you marked Tash-Murkon and Domain regions as CVA space (as territory of our presence and defence against Minmatar terrorists of course, not claim per se because those are official Amarr empire space), but that is not strictly necessary of course.

how about putting it on something faster than a 56k modem?
i get 3.6kb/sec when downloaded, and yeah i have 24mbit/sec my self.
any chance?
btw: NICE map, like the use of the original style, but those few new ones is also good, but the evemap116c looks promising, clear.
Good job

I would like to point out to current mapmakers (and I'll probably get flamed to hell about this) but the current new maps I see show all of Syndicate as Sumpremacy controlled space. Please fix this as as far as I know, they claim somewhere up north in Syndicate, not all of it :s |

Edited by: Nez Perces on 23/02/2005 11:10:43 Have to agree that, Righteous Fury's map is the most visually agreeable. I started making a map attempt of my own but it quickly became clear that it requires a LOT of effort. Hats off to the guys that got round to making a full map, its quite time consuming.
