All this stuff about holidays is good and are indeed valid reasons for PCU drop.
However explain to my poor confused brain why the current PCU counts are less than those of a year ago.
CCP have their most :awesome: expansion out and PCU isn't just down on a week ago, its down on a year ago. Do note that PRE-DATES the :18months: rage.

There is definately a decline in interest and activity in Eve since the release of Incarna. Will it be temporary? We can only say 3 months from now.

I've noticed as well a drop in player participation, about the time all the controversy came out about non-vanity MT's. Though some have been from hardware burnout, the others have mostly become disenfranchised with eve because of all of the B.S.

Oh I see, you only celebrate it every few years then? Same as 4th July?
GTFO - the PCU this year is less than the PCU last year on the same days.
Now if I'd just deployed my most :awesome: expansion ever and was telling myself I'd recovered from the :18months: rage (30k+ subs went then) I'm not sure that even in my most delusional moments I would claim this a success. Failing to lift the PCU above that of the same day a year ago when you have a shiny new expansion is a failure.
That would require someone in CCP to recognise that it isn't just Incarna and by the time they start focusing on the game then all they will have left is halfwits like you - and I HAVE heard you in NPC chat, you're utterly clueless

We need more statistics! Honestly, if there was a huge rage quit, we'll have to wait until the subscriptions run out before we see it in the numbers.
For now, I'd go with the sunny weather. It's quite awesome right now around here.

Begin of german summer holiday season, возможно? Started in Berlin, Brandenburg and Hamburg this weekend, and some days ago in Rheinland-Pfalz, Saarland, and Hessen. That makes for a considerable part of the population. There's a reason why they translate their planned statement into русский AND немецкий язык ...

Lot's of people cannot afford vacations like they used to do this year. There were expected larger numbers online and for EVE this is not happening. |

Look outside, alternatively at calendar?
What about other games, where they still keep getting higher numbers at holidays and weekdays? Le me see... THEY get higher numbers, EVE doesn't. Gee what this could mean?

PCU in Perpetuum is way up....must be suffering from the holiday and the weather.
Although PCU in EvE is down, speculation regarding the reason is just that. Personally, I have not been on due to the changes in Incarna and disillusionment with CCP tipping my interest toward doing something else and generally damping my enthusiasm for logging on.

^ This. Plus there's the people with melted graphics cards and blue-screens. I can't run more than one client because my machine has a memory exception party and my gaming addiction's not invited.

For people in this situation I'm not going to give you crap about how s/w can't kill h/w. It can.
So what to do?
1) Turn off the hair/cloth simulation option. This appears to be for char creation only but it isn't. This is the PhysX part of the engine so if you have a single Nvidia card it'll make your gpu/video memory run hotter; if you have an ATI card then it'll make your cpu run hotter;
2) Play around with texture quality. There's something not right with CQ - it uses WAY too much texture memory for what is being displayed. I'm no expert in this but it looks to me like there are multiple texture layers being loaded but not displayed;
3) Set VSync on. This should limit any strange iterative loop effects.
HTH although I don't much care if it does or not at this stage

Holidays? Vacation? You mean to say that people only play during their workdays? How come numbers used to rise during weekend?
For me taking a week off of the job meant playing EVE for a week.
Still have some time before my accounts run out. Though I seem to be spending more time here than ingame. (not that i'm here much)
Kind of sucks to login. Like that door is telling me to **** off. I guess it is saying just that. And I guess I obeyed by unsubscribing my accounts.

Wow. Was pretty simple process. Might want to try sending an e-mail to them; they are really responsive. I have notice really nice customer service and GM/Dev interactions far.

Dude, that graph is from right to left. To make it perfectly clear, the past is to the right, and the future comes in from the left.

I honestly don't get all the 4th of July stuff. 4th is Monday, on Monday I will roll out of the house and go light fireworks and maybe watch a fireworks show for 3 hours. Other then that its business as usual Fri/Sat. Don't know what other people are doing, but for my whole life, we light fireworks at the house for the 4th.

This ^
I didn't believe it at first but player interest in (actually playing) EVE definitively declined over the past 2 weeks.
It might be just a temporary hiccup, unrelated to the expansion/leaks/etc, soon to return to normal. But as I write this I can't help but feel some wishful thinking guiding my hand.

You need to actually mouse over the bottom graph that gives metrics for eve's life since 2006.
It actually reads,
2011 ---------- 2006
So the correct conclusion is that all-time we are double what we started with.
