There has gone some time sense the projectile ôbuffö to damage, and I would like to know your thoughts about Small (auto and howitzer) Med (auto and howitzer) Large (auto and howitzer) Do they perform well and can they be compared with the other guns?
I have done some testing of my self and my conclusion is Small they are working pretty well Med û They do some damage now and the more important is the do hit. Large û Yes, now here is the real problem. They still donÆt hit well. All weapons (laser, hybrid, missiles) do the job much better.
Auto cannons do perform much better than they used to, but howitzerÆs still lack in tracking and makes them worse than the other gun types. But this are my experience and I would like to know if itÆs just me, who think that it will take couple more of these ôtweakö to make projectiles in pare with the others.
So whats your opinion about this.

I havent tested it a lot after the changes but I will always be deticated to the old fashion act og war; the trigger
Projectiles dont suck like most people say, you can tank fairly well cuz they use so little cap to fire and I think thats the best feature.
Its not all about the damage, its also how the guns interact with other modules fitted on the ship : )
For small and medium class, the projectiles are just as good as hybrids and lasers, actually better, esspecially in the M class.
In Large, they are, from what I¦ve heard, doing a fairly good job after the last patch :D

I've been using a long range tempest for NPC's in 0.0 since the patch and it works pretty well. It's a defenseless setup though, highly reliable on the ability to aproach you enemies from over 100km... Yesterday fighting a BS Angel i never missed from 100km to 50km, when it died. So that was cool.
AC's i tried too for the first time since the patch and i can't say yet for sure... my setup is slightly diferent then what i used back then. But i dispatched a 1m BS in a satisfactory manner. Needed to reload halfway... I had the feeling that i wasnt hiting as often as i expected, but i also wasnt using AB so i couldnt exactly pilot my ship the way i used to, in order to keep transverse low.

Yes, projectiles have improved - Minmatar BS with projectiles are now `reasonable' (a little more tracking would help - I would like to have a setup without tracking computers sometime...). However the Minmatar BS are still nowhere as good as the Caldari or Amarr ones. They have things that they are GOOD at - the Minmatar ones are just `reasonable'. I am still holding off going for projectile specialisations till I see if any further changes are to be made - a pity as the autos on my Stiletto are probably pretty good.
Please no long posts about just needing more skill - everyone knows that a double chocolate chip cookie can be turned into an armor busting meaga weapon with only 60 years training....

Tech 1 stuff still to me is less than reasonable. Tech 2 stuff is slightly over reasonable. However, I have spent an arse long time training to large arty special and I have 27 perception and 22 willpower. I would hate to think what others with less than blessed attributes would take for little gain over a raven's uber torp lubbin, low SP requiring kingdom o' fun. -------------------- The Nest

interesting thing to note is how close the tracking of large projectiles is to large hybrids
0.009625 for 425 rail 0.009 for 1400mm howi
0.01167 for 350 rail 0.01125 for 1200mm arty
So if you have problems hitting with projectiles, hybrids don't do much better. Large lasers on the other hand..
0.0139205 for tachyon 0.0153125 for mega beam
that's about 25-30% better tracking, which translates directly into actual damage output, in most cases

I havent had to much probs with the 1400 mms except they are alot trickier to use once you get spoiled by torps or lasers but then again when the 1400mms hit they average about 5x times the damage as the lasers on my apoc do. (I got the same skills for large lasers as I do for large projs.)
Its just more of a pain having the fastest battleships in the game using the slowest tracking guns in the game. Some times that speed is needed to get that transversal speed as low as possible but others times there is alot of messing around with the throttle to get those transversal speeds low too.
Lasers just benefit by not having to worry about the transversal speed as much (tho you still need to watch it) and when it comes to missiles as in the raven normally I want those transverals speeds as high as possible so it the other ship has turrets I have the advantage and missiles dont care what the transversal speeds are to hit.
I think the projs are balanced to the other guns in the game now as it comes to damage/rof it just that they are the hardest weapons to use in the game effectively.

Correct me if IÆm wrong, but donÆt some of the öhybridö ships have tracking bonus? I donÆt have the problem with hitting stuff when IÆm in my destroyer or my Munnin, but both of them have tracking bonus to them. And yes, the large ones is still not in ôpareö with the other guns, do to the ônoö tracking bonus on Minmatar BS ships. So to hit you still need 2 Tracking comp II.

So If I have to use 2 tracking computers T2 then I canÆt use shield tanking, witch leaves me with armor tanking. Only got 5 mids and a good tank you need 3 hardeners, 1 booster and with the bad locking range you need a booster for that. Ok, lets say that I canÆt set up my ship correctly (the fact that IÆm hitting badly), are you all using 2 tracking computer T2 and, and armor tanking on your Tempest? I would like to use 1200 and 1400 once again.

"Correct me if IÆm wrong, but donÆt some of the öhybridö ships have tracking bonus?"
Gallente ships generally get tracking bonus comparable to effect of one tracking computer. Caldari just get shafted. :s
(railgun signature resolution bonus could be pretty nice on some Caldari, ability to hit small targets with rails more effectively than anyone else somewhat fits their supposed 'sniper' image... and is more practical than the boost to optimal)

I'm not sure how good they are. I couldn't break a friends tank and he was in a Raven. I was at close range too. He did have that named large shield booster though, and I have a plain L armor repairer. He broke my tank, but it was a quite slow process. If the battle was real he would have won, without his extra gun. He was lobbin torps of course.
So I'm not real pleased, but I figure I need to get my bs and gunnery skills up a bit.
The real shame is I joined Eve as a scientist and I can train those skills fastest. But the most important skills in Eve are fighting related...Sux to be anything other than a fighter in Eve...You can tell by the price of the associated implants. ____ If your not dyin' your not tryin'. |

Yes
So HMV consider Andy Williams and Dean Martin to be "easy listening" do they? Tell that to my mate Dave, he's been deaf for 20 years.

Tbh, at close range the Raven owns atm, so thats no real shame.
I dont fly the temp, but alot of my corpmates do and they seem to like it for long range. Ofc, the temp if any is THE ship thats gets better with the skills.
And btw, memory implants are most expensive as far as I know. But who am I, I dont use any anyway. _______________________________________________
