Yeah, what he said. +1
Yeah, add me to the list.
I've been playing Eve for almost 4 months, and I wouldn't have lasted 30 days prior to the Incursion patch. I've been playing MMOs for 15 years, and Eve is just now getting features that I have been used to for 15 years. Since we've all presumably read the patch notes for the Incursion and Incarna updates, I won't have to list the new features but I will comment on one thing: switching from ship to ship should be as fast as it is now, not as slow as it was in May.
That alone would have chased me off the game.
I also look forward to walking around in space stations because I find the missions in this game repetitive and, frankly, boring as ****.
That's just me. If you like missions, run them. If you like mining, do some. I prefer to interact with other players.

Edited by: Linar Mardolak on 03/07/2011 15:38:49 Even as someone who has strongly disagreed with CCP's other directions, I like Incarna. I don't need ship spinning, though it's okay. I'd like to see dock to hangar->choose to enter CQ for better immersion. However, I very much want WiS. I want to see immersive gameplay on the stations and on the planets. I quite like the idea of DUST, even though I think it's not being ideally implemented. I'd like to see more interaction between DUST/stations/capsuleers, not less. I'm happy with decorative avatar items, though I'd prefer player-built items, not MT.
In short, your opinion is not shared by me, nor by most players, as shown by the replies here.

Edited by: Mr Kidd on 03/07/2011 15:48:01 Whether you want Incarna or not or couldn't care less, it's here. CCP isn't going to back out of years of invested time now. This is what CCP wants. They've been talking about it for years. They've been developing it in one form of the others for years. It's not going away.
Be happy that they're rethinking the whole "Load station environment" situation to accommodate those that can't run Incarna or those that don't want to run it.

Originally by: Zeet A'Dron I am feeling like the main message is lost. Clearly Incarna is an expansion that offers very little to the devout Eve player. The last 6 months have been nothing but nerfs and subtractions. The JB nerfs, the skill changes, agents, other stuff i'm forgetting. Take a look at the indy indicies throughout null sec. There are some big problems snowballing while you siphen off all the cash from Eve.
STop trying to invent ways to overheat my PC in the process. Do you want me running two accounts or none? You need to be realistic with yourselves. We all know many many players box, yet you come out with more BS about how you spec to one client. Get back in touch with your player base please.
The CSM role was weak at best and I question the purpose for the entire thing: shallow, shallow results.
Two weeks ago I had more from the game than I have now. The same goes for a few months ago vs now. Incarna adds nothing the core player really wants. I'm sure lots of fanbois will buy your swamp water but my patience grows thin.
Hi, I just want to let you know how much one of the 3 following you are, not sure which; trolling? daft? complaining about the wrong thing?
I benchmark my PC constantly. Incarna runs slower than Incursion with CQ on. Incarna runs FASTER than Incursion with CQ off.
You should be begging CCP to keep it optional, not roll it back if performance truly is your issue. If not nice troll because it got me to reply.

I do not want Incarna. It has been a 100% waste of time. If you want to play dress up, play some other game. If you need to be a pretty pretty princess, play some other game. Incarna is only a tool they are using to sell virtual crap to real idiots. But to do this they are effecting everyones game play and taking development time away from real Eve projects. Soon they will fire all the dev's and have a house full of graphic artists making you losers new shoes for **** sakes. Open your eyes.

I always liked the concept of Incarna as a way to increase depth and immersion. I just don't like how it's implemented the way all other features were done in the past years and kept in that state: Broken, bruised, forgotten, sore. --------

I call the amount of time and effort put into creating Incarna a waste. It brings no extra functionality to eve, unless you want to play dress-up. This has been years of development, wasted.

Since you ask me so nicely...
Incarna opens up a few opportunities that you seem to be missing in your obsession with dressing up (anyone else thinking 'in denial'?).
First, they are creating a new (non-glittery) vampire MMO which will have combat outside of spaceships. There is the opportunity to introduce this combat to Eve. I have no idea if they have any plans to so so, but the potential is there.
Next, there is the potential offered to increase the gameplay available to the merchants in the playerbase. I only joined SWG in the final days, but I was impressed with how they allowed the crafters to set up shop. Again, only talking potential.
Some people I know who play MMOs don't like Eve since they feel they are playing a ship and not a character. Only partly understood that, but having a character might encourage more of them to play and it won't be just 'dressing up' they'd do. I'm assuming that this will apply to more then just the few people I know. A larger player base could be good for the game.
Now it could be that they don't develop it to its full potential, but I think you'd have to be pretty dim to think that they would spend this long on a game, have it as their principal revenue source, then gamble it all on making it a dress up game (even if some people would buy a secret account )
Myself, I'm looking forward to the WoD MMO, but I'm also hoping that they take some of the features from that game and introduce them to this one.
I could be totally wrong, but at least I'm not the idiot saying mine is the only viewpoint, and you must be a loser if you disagree.

Incarna certainly has the potential. But only as an integral part of EVE gameplay, not as a shopping mall add-on at the expense of EVE gameplay, as it currently is. ... Return the Old Hangar Back... for Immersion.

That is great, they are creating another game. Does nothing for Eve. I don't even no how to respond to the "introduce this combet to eve" thing. You have played eve right?

What value would this bring? Eve has one of the best auction/market places already. Why would I want to stand infront of a market stall? I played SWG, I loved SWG, but just because it worked there does not mean it will bring value to Eve. And again, this is a pipe dream.

This actually has some merit. I know people who said they do not play the game because they do not feel attached to their pod. But time and resource wise, I am willing to bet, the numbers will not be there. Time will tell.
