Originally by: CCP Greyscale Hey everyone, saw this thread while stalking Soundwave and just wanted to let you know that I'm on vacation for two weeks, so the first blog's probably going to be about three weeks away at this point. It's a we-want-your-feedback blog not an I-am-the-law blog so I want to be on hand to respond in the comments thread, and I can't guarantee that I'll be available on a given day while I'm chilling on a yacht* in the Bahamas**.
* Will not in fact be chilling on a yacht ** Will not in fact be going to the Bahamas
Hi CCP Greyscale! Vacations were good? how is the family and friends? hope you had a great time and family is good.
By now you should be back in the office. About that 0.0 ideas blog you wrote, can you post it?
Things are a little down here in the office, everybody on vacation, nothing to do, give me a bone, I need something to read and a reason to post.
Thanks

Don't allow attacker to take away individual player income(sanctums and havens are killable). thats a sure way to drive people away. Instead just allow to kill army, defenses and production capability(to deny capital production).
I'll go back to 0.0 when the blobs are killed aka when you can't get half galaxy to one fight.
Oyea stop the instant hotdrops. give a bit of warning, a chance to getaway.
Would be nice to be able to use other than crap cheap implants too... bubbles

Originally by: CCP Soundwave We'll be looking at 0.0 this winter. We're hammering down the principles we'll work by as we speak, and they're being reviewed by the CSM. Once they've had their chance to give feedback in person (later this month), I'll happily post the groundwork for everyone to see. From there on, detailed designwork and implementation.
It has been over a month since you posted that and I'm sure the CSM have had their look over it how about you keep your word ccp soundwave and post the groundwork as you called it?
now I don't think they/he will until a day or few days before the release, but I post this in the hopes that ccp will post this to build even more trust with the players by showing they keep their word(s)
Sorry about this. Greyscale has a devblog ready, but we were afraid that it would drown in all the drama going on the past weeks. Hopefully we'll be at a calmer place soon so we can get back to talking about spaceships. I looked at the CSM minutes today, and they have some good info too.
Sorry for not being able to deliver it to you sooner, but hopefully we can pass this info on soon.
bwahahah funny how he blames the playerbase for not having done his work :)

The way this reads is as follows :
"We don't want to distract the community from the NEX Store. Any publicity is good publicity. So, feel free to start buying NEX Items to propose the success of that project before we start giving you more Ships In Space."

0.0 improvements are good...it may get me back out there, at last. It wasn't so much the sov changes that ruined it for me (although they didn't help), but the lag, and who remembers when we were told rubber banding had gone forever...then only to reappear lolCCP!
On a final note - lets not forget, that it was CCP who took their attention away from spaceships...it's something the player base has always focused on

According to a democratic poll, what nullsec really needs is more medals.
If someone addressed all the common complaints about nullsec in a single proposal, would CCP ever find it? |

What I would have done in CCP's place after/in the Incarna/NeX fallout: Flood the community with devblogs about space, spaceships and fixing the user interface(!).
This silence is only making things much worse then it could have been. ---- Diplomacy: Telling someone to go to hell in such a way, that he looks forward to the trip. |

The DevBlog was ready, then they realized that posting an empty post would be against the rules of the Forums, so they didn't post it.

I too would like an update.
Though, its obvious all we'll get this winter is more NeX crap, and useless CQs.

Edited by: Zey Nadar on 03/08/2011 15:04:31 Nice blog! The "lessons learned" part is excellent, and I am in agreement with pretty much all of it. It also gives me hope of getting this working some day, since theres some proper insights in there which are obvious to us but not necessarily obvious to CCP as history has shown.
The "design rules" part is more two-edged, as it in my opinion has couple things that cannot be achieved, because reality is different from dreams. This however should provide grounds for some great discussions and hopefully improvement.
I'm going to delve deeper into this after Ive finished with my RL chores. One thing that I want to point out though, I wish CCP would test grounds by having dialog with players or at least with CSM after you have thought out some ideas about changes. "This is what we have in mind, how do you think players would react to it? Will it improve things?". Instead of just pushing changes live with no chance for us to respond to it. Having discussion at that stage, after you have fleshed out some ideas is very important in my opinion.

I've got you Grand Unified Theory of nullsec design right here.
You're welcome.
If someone addressed all the common complaints about nullsec in a single proposal, would CCP ever find it? |
