ccp working on spaceships and not gurista brand bunnies suit? man, where do i go to protest that ccp seem to have forgotten they are not supposed to do internet spaceship pixels just barbies in space. or wait, is this some sort of assembly line thing, one line works on one part, another on something else and then it all comes togheter piece by piece into a glorious new eden? |

Nope, not at all. The 0.0 stuff is pretty important, and I'd prefer the discussion to be centered around that, so we'll hold back on it until we feel we can get more focus on it. But it's still coming, and we're still working on it :) |

The "drama" comes partly from the whole incarna/MT thing and partly because of the fact that important game features have been left to rot for quite while and we're fed up with it, 0.0/SOV being one of them. I'm sure you understand that part, so I don't see why you would wait on purpose. |

I truly hope this is going to go far beyond a few "tweaks" as the whole concept of empire building as it is currently implemented in 0.0 needs to be thrown out and re-done from scratch. Seriously. In its current form it's nothing but capture the flag with a bunch of convoluted timers thrown in just to ensure absolutely nothing of consequence can happen without massive blobbing.
Way too predictable. And when it comes to game design, predictable = boring.
EVE needs a whole new concept when it comes to 0.0 because empire building ought to be about a lot more than capturing a flag. Mittani is right about one thing when he states there really is only one viable way to run a serious 0.0 alliance at present: a dictatorship with an aggressive NBSI policy. But that's not how it should be. EVE is supposed to be a sandbox and 0.0 ought to be a wild, dangerous, but very diverse place. But it isn't. In fact, in some ways it's the least dynamic segment of all New Eden.
CCP needs to get 0.0 "right" and in its current form it's very, very wrong. Please CCP, take your time with this. Solicit more feedback from the players and re-think 0.0 because a few tweaks here and there are not going to cure what ails null-sec. The problems are much deeper than that and EVE could be so much more than it is. |

Have to agree. Most if not all of the ppl this topic would effect had nothing to due with the protests. O.O pilots would rather shot each other then a statue.

I know many are looking forward to a peak at the May notes and 0.0 tweaks. I cannot make up my mind which I wanna see more. It would also be nice to hear about any ship types being worked on. Thanks for the communication SW. |

1. Sov warfare focuses on a ****ty dildo, a dildo which attracts blobs, blobs who just have to sit there all day to win, which results in boredom, blobbing and snoozefests.
2. Dreads NEED a buff and a purpose that will make them useful in 0.0 BUT not OP in WHs, supercarriers are only heavily used because sov warfare allows you to sit in one spot shooting a structure.
3. Station purposes, atm these stations are there to make it harder for the enemy to claim them, take NC / IT as an example, despite being dead it took months to remove them off the map BECAUSE these timers were ******ed as hell, it shouldnt take 4 months to kill an alliance that is already dead.
Stuff that people WILL want changing but should remain the same.
1. Moon Goo - Firstly if sov warfare was quick, 'fun' and wasnt always focused on a single structure, people would happily fight over land.
Secondly 0.0 SHOULDN'T be equal, life isnt fair and quite honestly it gives a purpose to invade / hate if things arent equal.
Thirdly if sov warfare wasnt heavily focused on numbers / supercaps, more people would be involved and more people would fight over these moons.
2. Supercarriers - Personally supercarriers are ONLY effective because the sov mechanics are so **** and dont require movement, do you really think people would use supercarriers like they do if sov warfare required you to move from one system to another several times an hour?
All in all, just think of why things are as they are, also I would ignore anything that comes out of the NC CSM mouths, they have made it obvious from the start that they will approve of anything that allows them to blob, RMT and remain where they are. |

By calmer, he means a server in decline to a point where all the people who give a crap have already left. Shame after the most anticipated patch in , your server fell by nearly 6000 per day

What I think they should do is make an activity based sov system, or something similar (actually live there to get sov, not just winning a few blob fests at some timers and going home again).
The result of any good sov system would be simply that if you are twice as strong you can hold onto twice as much space (roughly), while the current situation is that if the difference in strength is enough to overcome the defender advantage of the other side you will take all their space, regardless of how much space you already have. |

While any update to the spaceship side of things is always good, whinging because CCP have been focusing on Incarna and NeX kinda takes the cake. We've all had several YEARS of spaceship content.. some good and some bad admittedly, but nevertheless lots of it. I for one am happy with the CQ - Incarna route and am really looking forward to it progressing.

Nice, except it is a complete waste of time.
No matter what changes you might propose/implement you can bet your sorry ass that people will whine and complain and state that the old system was better or the changes were not good enough.
The only changes that are ever acceptable to a zero sec entity are the ones that massively unbalance the game in their favor.
Simply, do not bother and use resources on low sec where content is available to everybody and dire needed. |

Hmm. Soundwave, if you haven't already taken notes from that other thread...
The BC sized Heavy Bomber concept (BC hulls that are glass cannons, launching upgraded bombs (or maybe just able to launch 2 bombs together), have stealth, and able to mount x number of capital torpedos with bonuses to make those torpedos actually useful against very large ships, would provide an interesting counter to supercapital blobs. (In much the same way that well run normal stealth bombers can do interesting things to battleship fleets.)
Plus, I wouldn't mind seeing a drake that doesn't have an OMGWTF tank that makes people leave them for last. (Or a hurricane.) Could be interesting idea to spice up 0.0 tactics.
Also, I'd love to see how Sov is going to be dealt with. |

CCP, I would start by answering patient paying customers first with a blog. Impatient paying customers second with a slap on the wrist for being impatient, and never talk to people who are unsubbed(they're extorting you). When someone gots me by the balls I gets the hack saw out. And certainly don't let the drama get to you, don't mention the drama, don't even whisper an ounce that drama delays your schedule. I don't think it needs to be reversed but making it so that upgraded space even level 5, has no chance in hell of a haven/sanctum in a vast portion of 0.0 went too far. I totally get the idea to make it incremental but the bottom should be 1/1 not 0/0 and work up from there. IMO it should go 1/1 2/2 3/3 4/4 5/5 like that. Makes better space worth more without crippling lower truesec systems entirely. |

While it is understandable that you want a calm playerbase and not posting in the middle of a big uproar, I think the best way to calm down the players is to show that you are still heavily dedicated to the space part of EVE.
If you release blog after blog to explain the NeX strategy, MT and stuff like that (those blogs are good, no mistake about that!), the players might get the impression that this is all you are working on now. And that might not calm them down at all.
So pretty please, release the new devblog the sooner the better!

Whats the point in CCP trying to fix 0.0, will just make it worse.
You dont take your TV to the shop to get fixed and the security guard does it instead, just cause he saw it was broke on a forum and thinks he knows what hes doing.
CCP have slowly been making 0.0 worse, sov changes forced everyone out of 0.0 that didnt have titans and carriers, supercap changes forced out people that didnt have ENOUGH titans and carriers, true sec nerf made 90% of 0.0 derelict and everyone coups up in the one high true sec system with a gazzilion bubbles around the gate and jump bridges are the only way in, making those people nearly untouchable.
What next in their attempt to fix 0.0? |

I DO expect from a company with the amount of money they push around a more friendly customer approach and sorry, the insult they did post in this topic earlier, is not really customer friendly. That one of them tried to fix it later on, with the excuse HE is on holiday, doesnt make it better either. Its quite silly if only 1 person knows what goes on about a project, that involves basically one of the biggest part of eve.
PS: and they better come up with something good this time, instead of another load of nerves, which I still expect to be the main reason they are not daring to post a blog about 0.0 "tweaks" All my accounts are still in cancel status and wont be renewed, unless they really show they do care for this game, instead of milking it only for their other games, that are aimed at a different player type. Lets be honest, their sub is already one of the most expensive in the mmo world.

Regarding sov warfare, what Shadoo said on the alliance tournament video: "you gave us more structures to shoot at. With more HP". Really, did you think it was going to be more fun than shooting at poses? Granted, theres less deployment needed which is good but shooting at large non-interactive structures with a big blob.. is not really that fun.
Maybe do something like what faction warfare apparently has (I wouldnt know, never tried that stuff), that is spawn sites that you need to take, and which would be something a small fleet could do, and could hopefully spark some small scale pvp? I dont know what are the chances of that turning into either a grind or a big blob fights, but maybe its something to think about.
Plus theres this thing about rank and file alliance member income.. And how independent nullsec is from highsec. We all know its not really that independent. Continually less so now that you want to have highsec mission runner alts..

In any event, a little hint about the upcoming changes would be nice. Personally, I think we should just get rid of sov. Stations and IHUBs serve a purpose as they are. POSes as well.

Honestly, the reason there was enough ruckus to have the potential to drown things out on the forums is *because* people have reached the conclusion that CCP is putting little if any development effort into EVE (as in spaceship EVE, the game that people have been playing for years, not the incarna EVE that nobody has been playing).
Showing people that CCP is putting development effort into EVE during the middle of a firestorm would likely get people to pay attention to it on a level that they wouldn't normally do. A lot of the P2W rage was based on: "I'm ALREADY paying CCP and not seeing any results, and now they want MORE money?" Unless of course the development is under-resourced and half-baked. Which is what people were angry about in the first place, and waiting a few weeks and reminding them of it after the firestorm has cooled down is simply going to get CCP a second firestorm.

CCP is going to ahve to re-invent sov warfare, as it stands now, just a grind and who ever plops the most super caps wins.
But some 0.0 changes that are needed, which we will most likely see is a huge industry boost, probably to make it worth mining out in 0.0 either capital mining ships or something.
next have to attack the problem of supercap blobs, motherships are getting a nerf, all mom pilots know this and can see it coming, just which way is the nerf is the problem. do we drop 1 drone per level and make it 2 drones per level? or do we reduce ehp, or maybe limit the amount of caps that can travel per cyno?
These are probably the questions Greyscale has been asking a lot, what is the best way to balance them?
Yeah people say 0.0 got ruined, but people were farming and getting too fat of the same stuff. so you need to nerf the existing stuff to implement newer stuff.
HONETLY how many in 0.0 actually mine? Besides Chribba? Who actually does industry out there? As of the current state it is more effective to buy a ton of ships in jita and haul them via carrier/mom/rorual out to 0.0 than it is to build it there.
Also, technium is getting a nerf, that was also stated. i just wish they woudl allow us to moon mine in class 6 wormholes.

Don't allow attacker to take away individual player income(sanctums and havens are killable). thats a sure way to drive people away. Instead just allow to kill army, defenses and production capability(to deny capital production).
I'll go back to 0.0 when the blobs are killed aka when you can't get half galaxy to one fight.

0.0 improvements are good...it may get me back out there, at last. It wasn't so much the sov changes that ruined it for me (although they didn't help), but the lag, and who remembers when we were told rubber banding had gone forever...then only to reappear lolCCP!
On a final note - lets not forget, that it was CCP who took their attention away from spaceships...it's something the player base has always focused on

It also gives me hope of getting this working some day, since theres some proper insights in there which are obvious to us but not necessarily obvious to CCP as history has shown.
The "design rules" part is more two-edged, as it in my opinion has couple things that cannot be achieved, because reality is different from dreams. This however should provide grounds for some great discussions and hopefully improvement.
I'm going to delve deeper into this after Ive finished with my RL chores. One thing that I want to point out though, I wish CCP would test grounds by having dialog with players or at least with CSM after you have thought out some ideas about changes. "This is what we have in mind, how do you think players would react to it? Will it improve things?". Instead of just pushing changes live with no chance for us to respond to it. Having discussion at that stage, after you have fleshed out some ideas is very important in my opinion.
