Anybody noticed that spamming warp to get out the pod while dieing isn't working as it used to?
If you click on the warp button while your ship blows up it doesn't get "pressed" like usual. It is not responsive until you have finished "boarding" your pod. Which leaves your pod one second or so in space during it can be targeted (and pointed, ofcourse).
First I thought that I was just lagged out, but it happened again.
Makes living in low-sec a bit more dangerous for your pod. Maybe I go to null and just factor in the pod loss as inevitable.
Have more people experienced this or is it just me?

No, I dont use them, at least not for any subcapital ship. But all those lowsec monkeys, who used them because it was basically not possible to loose them, are screwed hopefully. There should be a significant risk of getting podded even in low sec.

Yes it yet another bug from yet another fail patch with probably zero QA. I stopped running any decent implants after I lost a pod a year ago from one of CCP's bug ridden patches.
I have lost a small hand full of pods in my time PVPing even in null sec and I can tell you at least half of them have been due to CCP patches. I lost one a few days ago to this "new" bug.
I guess I should ask the standard new memi.. "How much AUR to have my pod engage warp before a BC can lock it while I'm repetitively spamming warp."

There is always risk of losing your pod even in high sec. That risk should not include is it a no QA patch day.
Nothing is free in PVP, if you are too incompetent to catch others pod's then you do not deserve to catch them. Just like anything else, there is always a counter and yes there are ways to catch pods even if someone is spamming warp.
Just like in null sec where you dedicate a ship to launching bubbles you can dedicate specific ships to catch pods and "competent" pilots will catch them. If you can't figure it out, it doesn't mean it's risk-less.

No, I mean ships dedicated to catching things. In null sec you use dics & hics for the bubbles in low/high sec you use insta locking frigs or other fast heavier tanked ships if u are going GCC. With various mods & ships you can get set ups that will insta lock a pod if you dedicate a ship to doing so.
Just like you dedicate a ship to tacking with bubbles if pods are that important to you, then you dedicate a ship to catching them.

there is no such thing as "instalocking frig" for capsules, between locking and getting a point is a small time slip where the target even escapes when your disrupt symbol appears on the hud or module gets active. Generally, you dont even have a chance to lock if the dude was doing it right, the capsule warps always immediately after ship pops.
All you could rely on was lag and stupidity of the owner not spamming warp to a celestial while getting popped.

Actually it's called two large smartbombs. That said I haven't noticed any changes in pod warping and I've been spending a fair bit of time turning into an egg with the hulk ganks I've been doing. Some buttons do have anti-spam filters however. I find it best to click once every 3/4 second or so, rather than spamming as fast as I can. I have noticed a god awful amount of lag recently however. It took 7 seconds for me to cancel a warp earlier and I was the only person in the system. It was not a connection issue on my end. And it seems that kind of lag is getting terribly common.

pods are more unresponsive to warping out. if this is intended your computer hardware decides how fast you will get your pod out. the lag when you switch ship is not serverside. in the past the spamwarp was excellent, it would fail abit sometimes and so. without warp spam, low grade computers that go into capsule mode can be lagged enough that a battlecruiser can target your pod before you can warp out. fair?

Yea, it is the UI buttons that dont work properly. Lost a pod to that yesterday, button was just doing nothing after I was already sitting in pod with responsive UI for 5+ seconds easy.
When pod was half dead it finally responds and says "external factors prevent warp herpderp".
Meh, just a cheap nullsec clone so I could care less. Not gonna use any expensive implants in the near future though
Edit: A corpmate lost a Cynabal the same way, well clear of any warp disruption his ship just didnt warp when he spammed the button.

as the above poster says: two smartbombs on a ship. they are not wasted highslots applied right, clears ecm drones, damage drones kinda neatly.
This issue has nothing to do with computer side lag. The issue you are talking about is like a slow load from the transition of exploding ship to your pod. This new issue you get to your pod just fine, but it simply will not warp. (and no it's not because you are warp scammed)
I've only had this happen one time so far since the 2nd patch after incarna (prior to the latest patch), but it is certainly a new bug. This appears to be yet another new "powered by carbon" issue relating to the UI and it not working properly.

Me personally, no. Didnt lose anything of significant value, and frankly I think it is in my best interest to have the bug there.
I dont use outrageously expensive implant sets, so everything that detracts others from using them is an advantage for me. If they still use them and I catch a HG slave pod, thats a nice ransom right there, so its win-win.
Besides, if it is a client-side issue (UI being client-side) as I suspect, it is not petitionable anyway. Since CCP already know the new UI is buggy as hell, it'll be worked on already in some shape or form I guess.

As far as the topic of stealth lowsec nerf goes, there is another thing that was changed, hopefully not deliberately.
The sentry guns now lock frigates under GCC very quick and get at least one volley off even on interceptors. My Taranis used to get away without problem before Incarna, now it takes one volley from the guns most of the time.
Which is a huge problem for the viability of frigate pvp when flying a buffered fit without local repair.

I can confirm this. No warp command possible for your pod until everything has loaded. For me this nowadays tends to mean, ship killed = pod killed.

If it is a New feature, then I'll be done with this game. I don't use expensive implants, but I also don't like giving away skill-less pod deaths. Meaning if it no longer requires skill/tactics to catch pods, then my days of PVP will be over in this game and I'll move on to another one. Last thing EVE needs at this time is more dumbing down.

Several of us (as in the Tuskers) have noticed this; very annoying when GCC'd in a frigate. Gateguns now seem to get a volley off even on things with <3 second align times, which is pretty silly.

Hmm, could this maybe be an instance of skill bonuses not applying correctly? I've seen comments around these forums that the supposed fix didnt work fully.
My Taranis should align in roughly 3 seconds, but in-game it kinda feels a lot closer to the 4.8 seconds it would take without agility skill bonus applied. Might be an explanation why the guns have time to get a volley in.
This is just observation, I didnt really try to time it which is difficult anyway with client/server lag and whatnot.

Confirming something still feels wrong at least agility wise. One recent Sentinel loss, while mostly expected, was shocking how quickly my armour got chewed through which made me suspect armour comp skills weren't being applied.
CCP (Navigator? has posted that this is fixed but it was never confirmed as fixed in the patchnotes.

The UI locking up is also horrible. My motivation to pew has dropped significantly since Incarna.

I was shooting NPC haulers around stations before fix and the guns worke normally. Now the guns all lock instantly and have a 1 second cycle time. And they instapop ABing frigates. Damn ridiculous.
As for pod racing, I haven't noticed a change. There has always been a delay between your ship popping and appearing in your pod, and then a 1 second delay before your pod becomes controllable. Same as when loading new grid after a gate jump. I've never had my UI go unresponsive before, except under large fleet lag conditions.
No matter how many times or how fast you spam warp, your pod will not warp, nor will the UI process your warp command until after all delays have elapsed. Spamming warp is like spamming mouse click in response to a slow computer OS. It won't make it go any faster, and will likely just cause the interface to get confused, or possibly even crash.
Your best bet is to have something warpable selected in your overview prior to popping, hover your mouse over the selected item icons, and wait attentively for them to highlight in response to mouseover event. When that happens, your UI is active and responsive again. Now hit warp. With sharp reflexes, you can get that warp command out in a quarter second. |

This is a bug in new UI. When I spam Directional Scanner button - it gets unresponsive too sometimes, meaning it stops "accepting new clicks".
I do not believe it is related with some hidden intentions of nerfing low-sec, but it can definitely hurt expensive pods.

As far as this being a bug, seems it's certainly a new powered by carbon UI bug.
The only work around I've found is that re-selecting the celestial you intended to warp to will then reset the UI and allow your pod to warp. Sadly if there is even a single fast locking ship in point range of your pod this fix is likely about as effective as trying to patch up the titanic, with duck tape before it sank.
If you are dealing with slower locking ships that aren't sensor booted to hell it's still likely to get your pod out by reelecting the celestial and trying to warp again.
not so ninja edit..
Also this glitch/bug seems to come and go. (ie doesn't happen in every instance that you lose a ship and spam warp for your pod)

A +2 set is not cheap for a new player by any means, let alone +3 and up.
As for higher SP players, looking at the price of just my medical clones it is kinda hard to find a good reason risking them in a t1 frigate or cruiser that costs less than even the naked clone without the basic nullsec implant set.

7M for +2s on your active attributes vs. about 12M(?) after insurance for a Rupture.
Try 14M for those +2s, lowest in Jita. When just starting to train up pvp skills, you do not have the luxury to focus on a particular area for half a year like veterans do. Which means you need Int, Perc, Mem, and Will.
Unless we assume those +2s are being lost once a week at least, then you might get away with just 2 of them.
Not really sure about Rupture, 12M sounds about right though when you rig it cheap like you should with a cruiser, and about 4M for a Rifter.
So our projected loss with properly functioning UI in hisec/lowsec is normally 4M/12M apart from being unlucky once every 3 months or so maybe. With bugged UI, we can increase the projected loss to 18M/26M for frig/cruiser.
Pretty harsh given that is quite a sum for new players.

Just got a response from my bug report regarding sentry turrets shooting interceptors before they can get into warp:

It's definately an issue with spamming (certain?) buttons. Spamming DSCAN can cause a lockup as can spamming buttons like warp and jump.
I can't replicate it enough yet, but either closing or minimising the relevant window seems to 'reset' 'it' enough for it to start working again.

Confirming I've encountered the pod warp delay effect, CCP standard response to petition is "logs show nothing" so yes it probably is a UI problem like has been suggested.

No it didn't. Pods don't warp out like they used to.

Haven't lost a ship in a while but I've been seeing lots of podkills in lowsec on my corp's kb that I've been scratching my head at, this would explain it. CCP need to get on it ASAP

The root seems to be the session change delay after your ship goes boom and you get dumped in your pod. For whatever reason it takes several server 'clicks' to change now and the UI become responsive again, during which time you are usually locked and splatted.
One thing I have noticed is that turning of camera shake helps a little but doesn't fix it.
Humpty Dumpty is ****ed off and it will take more than the king's men, a bucket of glue, and a troop of exotic dancers to fix this one... ;) --

I know someone whom said this right up til he lost his billion isk clone. There is certainly a bug and while it doesn't happen every time, eventually it will show it's self and you will also get hung out to dry.
Pre-spamming does not work if you happen to get hit with this UI bug. The only fix I've found when it happens is to reselect a item in the over view and select warp. In today's era of insta locking interceptors & even BC's that's a iffy fix to this ****ty bug, that CCP hasn't even acknowledged that it exists.

My corpmates and I have also noticed this problem. We're in FW so we do lots of pew in lowsec. I've been losing/killing alot more pods recently than I did in the past. The "pre-spaming warp" doesnt really help as there have been times when I've known I'm going down before I enter hull so I align and start clicking warp a good 5 seconds+ before I pop and I still lose my pod.
I have found spamming "s" (warp shortcut) and clicking repeatedly on a celestial on overview is slightly better, but I'm still losing pods when I shouldn't.
Luckily I don't run any really expensive implants but it is annoying... |

The problem is the ui freezes up everytime there is a session change... this includes, docking, jumping, leaving ship, being killed... loggin in... joining fleet.... its only for like 1-2 sec... but that can get you killed...

Gee do you think everyone just forgot to spam the warp button so now you are making a killing in ransoming pods?
Yep this is still broken. I have gotten targeted many times even though only podded 1x on a different character. No question that high cost implants are thing of the past.

What I have noticed is that spamming warp too much is also harmful. Starting spamming warp just a few seconds before dying seems to work.
I'm afraid that this also happens because of client side issues. I've a slow computer and it realy takes a long time for UI to re-load during podding. On times when I manage to get my pod out, I had warp drive active message long before UI loads. UI loaded while my pod was in warp tunnel :P
So according to this I'll assume that: If I send the warp command milliseconds before exploding, it goes to server, recieves approval and comes back as an approved order to my pod instead of my ship, my pod warps.
I never use expensive implants in pvp so not really a big issue. The travel time back to combat zone sucks though :P ------------------------------------------- Die Amarr Die!!! |

Ah yes, spamming... I noticed that when spamming (warp, dock, lock) with mouse clicks... is suddenly and randomly ignores the spamming for seconds sometimes...

I remember at one point CCP mentioned that spamming the jump button on a gate put you at the end of the que compared to someone who just pressed it once. That may also have a factor in you getting your clean clone. ------------------- Always remember this about EVE:

I've been finding most of the new UI unresponsive/slow to react. Tbh id rather have the old system,at least it was functional..this just seems like waiting at traffic lights every click

i tried to reproduce this bug with a corp mate in dodixie yesterday. no success. we had both fastlock frigs (mine was a griffin with 2500 scan res) and tried several ways: extrem-button spamming, normal button spamming and pressing the button after boarding the pod. each time the other one could escape before the lock hit and the button did respond after boarding the pod.
i did not lose any ships in lowsec/null recently so i can't tell what it's like when you pop in something bigger than a shuttle, perhaps when you lose a bs you have more lag or something?
or is there any other thing you need to do so that the warp button gets unresponsive?
i encountered that problem with unresponsive ui elements once or twice with the d-scan button, but that's it.

So far we've settled on the general button bugs that are to blame.
Sometimes, but not every time, someone has problems with the align, warp and jump buttons, regardless if they're in pods or ships. Problem is that you really don't care much about it until you're podded... Why this happens is anyone's guess. The shortcuts have less problems though, but it's hard to remember to start spamming shortcuts instead of the warp button :|
And yes, we catch and lose a lot more pods in low-sec now, compared to before Incarna.

I have noticed that spamming jump at a gate for example has far more delay that if you click once when you stop warp and are in jump range.
Had 2 ship losses in WH camps since Incarna and got my pod out both times - not spamming but clicking warp at the right time.
