Hi, I found a lonely POS in Empire without any force field. The tower is online with full health, and a few online modules are floating around.
Is that normal ? And can I steal the mods (without a wardec and shooting the POS) ? I don't have an "uncanchor" option when flying <1500m.
Thanks.

They may have not activiated the pos shields, you cant attack in high sec unless you war dec them and wont be able to take it off line or unanchor it, war dec and destroy is the best option

Ah, I didn't know you could have a POS online but simply shutting down the force field. What's the point ? So far it seems that having the force field doesn't consume more fuel.

The only real explanations are that they were either too lazy to turn them on (or a noob who didn't know how) or someone simply forgot.

I see.
Well I will double check the POS to see if I can blow something (maintenance array, corp array, maybe labs ?) valuable.

It is because they have not yet entered a shield password. For killing the pos purposes it does still have shields (i.e. if you lock it up, it will have full hull, armour and shields, and you will have to take out the shields as normal) and it will re-inforce as normal if it has stront.
Not sure about shooting anchored mods, but i dont think it will let you. You can fly about 'inside' the shields, but if they put a password into it it will ping any non corp/alliance members off for miles.

I think you can shoot all the pos arrays. But if its in High Sec, CONCORD will pay you a visit.

I know the difference between a force field and the shield of the pos. :p
I can lock these lovely labs, ehe.

Note that some arrays have a very low EHP -it's possible to gank'em with a few BS-.

if you are at war with that corp or the pos is not in high sec you can shoot the mods that you can lock however an online mod has 99% resists so it's not easy to kill them fast :)
same goes with guns on a reinforced POS i heared of a SC blob destroying the guns on an online POS

Another explanation is so that non-corpmembers (read: alts) can enter the POS without having to type in the password every time. In anywhere but highsec, it would be suicidal to leave the forcefield down. Mind you, I wouuld be uncomfortable without the POS shield, since if someone saw you carrying a load of juicy BPOs, they might suicide gank you. ----------

That's quite a bad news. Hmm, where is my afk 'badon... EDIT : 99% resist for shield/armor/hull or only hull ?

Almost nobody drops BPO in Empire space POS (I guess).

Up !
I found another POS -this one was abandonned-. No force field, not online at all, and a bunch of anchored mods floating in space. I still can't unanchor them -guns or labs-.
So it's impossible to steal POS modules unless : - you shoot the tower - the POS owner is the dumbest capsuleer in EVE and forgot to anchor them ? (but I think they'll disappear with the next DT).
Thanks.

Sure, that's what I'll try.
But I was dreaming about building a mighty GARBAGE POS OF THIEVES, with all the mods I could stole.

assuming it is a station system, the bpos would be locked up nice and safe and just remote research/copy I know my good BPO hasn't left station since I put it in it's home(tho I was almost having a heart attack on every jump moving a multi billion isk asset)

This is now a C&P thread.
Originally by: Franny iirc, it's only hull
Wrong !
Okay, so I wardeced the little corpo yesterday. A pilot convo'ed me, told me my kb was a joke (doh ) and said that I couldn't destroy any of his assets (but he was polite, so brofist for him anyway). I guess he forgot how badly he setup his POS.
So the wardec began one hour earlier, I came with my lazarshipofdoom. From my calculations, I was ready for 5 hours of pewpew. Shields of the first module went off in 2 shots, armor in one shot. Now the hull.... Oh wait ! The hull is melting ! No resistance at all. In 4mn he lost 10 advanced mobile laboritory, worth 700m. I guess a lot of the ME slots were active, so tomorrow somebody will read an EVEmail saying "i'm a large pos under attack h4lp !", will laugh because it's impossible to solo a such POS, and then will check the POS and I'll get my tears.
Sadly I got no loot, but I'm quite atm.

I know the stuff OUTSIDE a shield (if there was one) gets a resist buff didn't even think about the stuff that would be inside of one normally(some of us are smart enough to activate the 'bubble', unlike the owner of that POS )
you get killmails for the labs? my stats are beyond horrid, might be an easy way to up them (ofc i'm in a covert ops or a logi most of the time, I gotta make up somehow)

yes you get KM's for the pos mods you killed :)
a lot of players roam thru low/0.0 with a SB and look for offline POS towers with mods just to boost the killboard stats a bit

Anyway, another day, another stupid idea. This time I found a medium gun in space. Anchored, offline, without any tower next to it. I was quite and even a bit , so I took a random indus and warped to it. Success ! I have the "unanchor structure" option ! I got a message box saying I must wait 60s (it's okay darling I'll be gentle ) and... Nothing.
I made a petition.
It's really hard to be a scavenger in EVE.

Reminds me of the time when I was wandering through a 0.0 warzone, scanning random moons and looking for abandoned POS mods. Not that great in terms of profit, but I found some gems. Including one Jump Bridge I couldn't fit into a blockade runner. ---

But the loot is lost. And it's hard to solo a tower for a lone pilot.
I got my petition's answer : bug. The GM removed the gun, and so I got nothing.

Up ! And last post.
I found another gem. A bunch of incapacited modules in space, without a POS. I spent time repairing them. Armor/hull full, now more incapacited... But online. Wtf ? Petition, the GM said they know about this bug and removed what I rr'ed.
Conclusion of this thread Don't lose your time hunting Empire POSes, there is almost nothing to earn, and what you could earn is buggued.
I'm a sad panda.

the only way to really benifit from kill empire POSes is to blow the tower. once you blow the tower you can steal the mods. there is very little point in poping the modules as there is very little chance of there being any valuable loot to drop, and even if there is, there is a very small chance of it dropping. even a full corp hanger will barely drop enough to cover your ammo. stealing the mods once the tower is gone at least nets you the value of the modules.

Yes I totally agree with you, but it's not always possible :
Originally by: Reppyk And it's hard to solo a tower for a lone pilot.
I was trying to find a new career in EVE. We have the missioner, the miner, the moongoo-eater, etc. Something you can do solo, not with a 20 ships gang/3 hours of boring stuff. "POS scavenger" man it sounded great ! Not as great as "pirate" or "space ninja with lazers riding a T-rex" but still cool.
I'll wait one year for the POS patch. :(
