What? I get free AUR on Friday?
Now I'll be left looking at that sh*t in my wallet.

Originally by: Lady Spank On Friday, all active accounts will be 'awarded' 1000 AUR.
I recognise this as nothing but a cheap marketing trick intent on coercing the player-base into using a controversial game feature.
While the MT store itself does not offend me, I wish only to ignore it. Implying that 1000 Aurum I can do nothing with without topping-up, and thus facilitating the NEX store, leading to statistics implying success of that service, is nothing but a dirty trick and an insult.
I wish for an option to opt out on all my accounts.
Retail stores, credit card companies, hell even Xbox live does these kinds of things. It's not a dirty trick, it's just marketing. But even with this marketing there is still a lack of any thing worth buying for a small number of pixels. That's just my opinion anyway.

I agree. I do not want to validate the NEX store in any way and do not wish to have any Aurum on any of my accounts.

Technically all marketing is morally corrupt. The technique employed by CCP in this instance is more reprehensible than usual. ~~~

1) Buy 1000 aur boots from nex store. 2) Drag and drop them to your ships hangar. 3) Undock and start fraps 4) Jettison boots to space. 5) Shoot the jetcan. 6) Send the video to "Eve is real". 7) Wait for the next free AUR patch. --- This is one of the moments where we look at what CCP does and less of what they say. I like this approach. If the NeX store ever becomes raw material components for player made stuff then I'll spend it.
Edit to specify vanity stuff only of course!

Anyways I know that OP wants to opt out, but she fails to realize that soon she will be able to rent Jenna Jameson's newest clip "Hard Amarrian furry balls - lost in wormhole" with only 500AUR and play it in CQ's phased plasma TV for entire day and night.
Now that will be awesome. --- This is one of the moments where we look at what CCP does and less of what they say. Innovation takes time to set in and the predictable reaction is always to resist change |

Hmm... question:
Are you just as susceptible if you rail in absolute opposition to a marketing technique? i.e. like a felon who cannot control his anger when provoked, are you easily controlled by contrapositives?
I find that most of the time, if I want to avoid being a target for one side or the other, I simply walk straight through the middle.
i.e. just because Bill Gates may or may not be an insane megalomaniac (for argument's sake), does not mean I should refuse to buy any Microsoft product in the world and buy only Apple instead, because then Steve Jobs wins whether he is the real megalomaniac or not.
Now, I am not saying it is irrational to believe that CCP is out to wage mental warfare with its subscriber base in order to milk more revenue out of them, but just asking... is it not also a position of weakness to outright deny any and all faculties from a source based solely on the view that it is all somehow universally conflicted?
By saying that the NEX store is intended to subvert you, are you saying that the graphics artists, storyboard writers, and every developer, shareholder, or market analyst involved had this sole purpose?
Just because some hole in the ground arse at Microsoft puts out some product to bend me over and empty my pockets does not mean I refuse to buy any and all Microsoft products, i.e. some of the NEX items are and will be ... fairly reasonable in price, but you refuse to buy any of them whatsoever, even when given free AUR to do so?
I am really just curious, since you brought it up.
Newegg wins because I buy my rig there and put linux on it. Then I buy monocles with the money I save.
Capitalism is the ****, ain't it?
TBH a win/win situation would be if they left CQ optional, and disabled the NEX store for those who had CQ off. But they would lose free spam opportunities that way so it's not going to happen. . Adapt and overcome or become a monkey on an evolution poster.

I looked into this and there is no way to "opt out" of the Aurum reward other than to have an inactive account. These are literally "free" gifts from CCP to you and you are welcome to horde/ignore it or buy something and sell it off for ISK at a later date.

Boom here is the answer. Don't want AUR quit the game. Think of it as the ultimate opt out button. The much better protest of the "morally" corrupt CCP brain washing conspirators. The only true way to tell CCP to take this AUR and shove it. You win by staying true to your moral compass, and everyone else wins by not seeing anymore of your post.

I see good tidings in how cheap a marketing gimmick this is, about as cheap as the whole notion of NEX in the first place. Give away freebies to fudge the metrics all you want, it's still not gonna stick.
The only thing that's happening is a short term flood of low end NEX gear to the market that drops in value rapidly while everyone tries to make a little isk off a handful of lol.

Thankfully my final account is expiring today (or was it yesterday?) I don't have to worry about opting out of silly play money statistics because I'm effecting the only meaningful statistic they have.
Now if only there were a way to address the real problem, instead of all this NeX silliness.

If you'd plugged it into the "Redeem items" feature the same as all the other gifts we'd be able to ignore it. Instead it's shoved into our face in obnoxious turqoise on our wallet pages. Don't want it.

Oh, the suspense! I need to know more!
What is being lubricated by his tears? You can't end your sentence without an object!
By the way, grammar just wants to be used by everyone. It's ok to use it. It doesn't make grammar promiscuous.

As a beautiful female it is somewhat insulting that all I can get with this "gift" atm from CCP is a pair of male boots. The Aurum "reward" is a shameless CCP carrot and donkey ploy to get people to buy more Aurum.

Problem with this is, it would mean using the NEX store, and that would be validating it in CCP's eyes and contributing to their metrics so they can then go "lololol look gamer press, people are using our store, we were right to be so fearless" ================
