Everything zooming around at 2000 to 6000 m/s has never felt right. Its a spaz-fest. Would be better if MWs were scaled down 30-50%.. 800 m/s for a bship, 1200 m/s for a BC, 1600 m/s for a cruiser, and 3000 m/s for the fastest frigs.

No.
Speed has already been nerfed a few times, and it's about right now.

Sub-warp speeds in eve are actually fairly low by space's standards. It's just the accelerations that are a little exaggerated, like frigates which often accelerate at well over 100 gravities. |

Lore wise the Warp Drive is always turned on creating a perma warp bubble around the ship even in normal space which has the effect of making drag effect mass like in atmosphere, the drag is also what allows us to bank.
The MWD is the counter to that effect. If the Warp Drive was ever shut down the ship would move like a normal object in space, basically no banking and you need an equal amount of engine force projected ahead of you to counteract the force of the engine behind you to stop the ship. |

I'm pretty sure they did that when they laid off 30% of their developers "A genius throws a Molotov cocktail and soon realizes that he's going to die choking in a maze of smoke and flame. A hero drinks a Molotov cocktail and soon realizes that if he does a split in midair, he can hit twice as many zombies per kick. Drunk hero wins again, wusses." ~Cracked.com |

Naw, Eve combat small gang/solo combat is too fast-switch, reaction time dependent. If I wanted that type of multiplayer experience I'ld go play a FPS.

You do realize that your ship speed has absolutely squat to do with your or anyone elses reaction time right? Maybe I was actually sleeping in front of my computer and dreamed I posted. Certainly, it's not there now. |

At what velocity is this "drag"? It can't be matched to the interstellar medium because then you would be pulled out of most solar systems at enormous speed. It can't be the nearest planet because then you would fall into that planet. |

Their are probably some Chronicles on this you can look at as well as the encyclopedia. He's asking what you're being dragged relative to. In the real world, there's no such thing as an absolute velocity. The answer is that EVE has a privileged reference frame in which position is measured, which is obvious bullshit physics-wise but no one cares because it's a friggin' video game. |

Seems like you would be more fit for fighting in capitals.
I do get what you are trying to say, as I find those speeds really do not convey how big these ships actually are. Their movement, at least for me, make the frigates feel like they are the size of modern jets, which is actually how big fighters are in this game.
But then again, we are not really discussing max speed as much as we are discussing agility, or as one poster identified above, a.k.a. their acceleration. Supposedly pods make these maneuvers possible, but it still feels a little alien to me. |

You mean - realistic?
The speed of combat is fine. Practice and training is what makes you do the right thing almost instinctively. But the first few times, expect to die. |
