Edited by: Eternum Praetorian on 18/08/2011 02:01:53 I was away for about 3 weeks doing some continuing education classes, I lead my first roam tonight into some of (what should have been) the busiest systems in EVE.
Emptiness like I have never seen before everywhere...
I guess some of these people threatening to rage quit actually did then? LOL

I'd say they're all warm and comfy holed up in their L5 sov systems, botting away at rats and roids.
I'm cruising around random systems, if I see you I'll say hi.

I say we all just form up and fly down to 0.0 and kill anything that moves or thinks of moving. Surely there is enough people who care enough to change the tide.
That would atleast solve the plex=CCP liabilty problem. All the 0.0 carebears will have to use their botting isk to replace everything. Then just camp them so they can't use their bots for a while. That'll liquidate their assets so they'll shut up.

Possible what CCP might looking forward too. But CCP and so many have hard understanding that, most people frankly just dont care enough to PVP. Some try it and dislike because they suck at it, have attention span of twig or just dont take order well at all. I believe that some people dislike orders, will not do what CEO aspects them to do and are playing EVE they way they like. There are many types of people who play EVE and from all walks of life so there for you never going to bring everyone together to play your game! I wish CCP the best and I know I have paid my dues for many years but this time Im fed up with just about everything. EVE has become a new playground and Im sorry to say I miss the old ****TARD one.. and Abusive language! funny people like Milano and Maybe my friend George who play for the risk of the game!..

I notice emptiness of Null sec too. At first I was surprised when I went for a visit to pick up some BPOs of how empty it became. As I was passing systems that thrived with life and busy campers, hunters and just ships or full locals I wondered where's everyone. These systems look like ghosts with planets but no people. I flew deep into Null this time and to my surprise I saw only two gate camps in about 40 jumps total of considerably smaller amount of ships then it's used to be. If before it was 30-50 ships camping now its barely 10-18 ships at the same locations.
So yes there is emptiness and honestly that scares me more then super-carrier.

Seriously?
Come on guys, don't you pay attention?
They're less people online now because students are heading back to school/college. After all, the average age of EVE playerbase is what?
The lack of players throughout this summer was in no way related to the earlier "Gold Ammo" debacle. Nope, it was because EVERYONE was taking vacation.
NOW... let those kiddies get back to school and college, mkay?

I await Tippia to come and dispute your claim.
Summer has nothing to do with a decrease in active players. Compare last years PCU to this years during the same time frame and you will see a dip. Not only that even with it being summer there is always a peak right after a expansion is released, no matter what season it is. There was non this time and actually there was a dip(if I remember correctly) when it came to Incarna.

Somewhere in the 30s iirc. But the result remains the same: the young ones go back to school, the old ones go back to work after vacation.
Quote: The lack of players throughout this summer was in no way related to the earlier "Gold Ammo" debacle. Nope, it was because EVERYONE was taking vacation.
Not really, no. Numbers usually go up when people take vacation ù they have more time to play, after all. The whole "summer dip" is a myth. Instead, it is what you described above: an "early autumn" dip, when the summer winds down and people go back to their lives without quite as much need for free time and escapism.
What we saw this summer was something spectacular and unique: a severe dip in player activity directly connected to an expansion. Both the summer itself and the patch should have boosted the numbers. Instead, the patch managed to kill the upwards trend that was going on (as expected) at the time. Let me repeat that: the numbers were going up, as they always do in expectations of a patch and as they always do in the early summer. Then they took a nosedive the second the expansion hit. This is not normal.
Originally by: Brooks Puuntai I await Tippia to come and dispute your claim.
I only dispute the summer part. He's quite correct in saying that there is a dip when people go back to work/school. ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡ you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki

I'd have to agree on the 'severe drop' part. Login the last two weeks has been a surprise, as the '# logins' count is back to 2009 levels (under 30K). Weekends are still holding up a bit.
I could definitely see the release itself being a factor, as well as the 'drama' that occurred shortly afterward. Both were not a big deal to me since they did not go over the cliff - yet. In fact I ended up re-activating (temporarily) a spare account to add more skills to a general-purpose alt.
I don't like my other options available at this time anyway - Uru is effectively dead (or indefinite stasis), and SL would encourage me into massive money sinks again. Given what I'm doing at work right now (Nagios/Icinga programming), its very possible I'd leave gaming altogether and wander into FOSS projects again.

Also don't forget that a fair amount of free 51 day alt accounts have been made, so that kinda hides the low numbers even more.

passed Goonswarm federation space. Entered Wildly Inappropriate one. Quite empty too. Only lazy carebears "drop your ship at 20km from the gates and we will get rid of it"
Thinking about visiting monument of first destroyed titan in c9n. And other interesting place near (old chemical factory or something) which is some kind of special. You see it on star map however no options like "set destination" for it

russians have taken most of 0.0 just because they can with their huge supercapital blob. majority of systems are completely empty ghost towns and best systems will be filled with bots who warp to pos/cloak/logoff when hostiles come to system. welcome to new eve online. maybe ccp should consider doing something very soon before they lose more players..

I don't think so... Because...
My fleet was moving through 2-3 empty systems with an interceptor scouting ahead 2-3 jumps ahead. And it was like empty, empty, empty, 3 in space nothing on D-scan... empty. If the bots were doing what you are say that they are doing we would see them logging off as we entered.
And people don't bot in empire to nullsec systems either.

Playing on Sisi server, enjoying the silence
Same stuff there as they have on tranq, but without the scams, griefers, emo ragers, pew pew.
Just pure PvE, which can be fun for a change. Nice and quiet, no motormouths. 100 isk for a carrier etc |

Guild Wars 2 is looking pretty hot tbh, so if EvE isn't sorted out by time GW2 arrives then I'll probably quit for good.

What an utterly ****e expansion. No other way of putting it. Epic fail in all ways - even for the people who want WiS.
Should be simple enough even for you mmmm?
