I wonder how the data on this article will change reflecting the Incarna 1.1 fail-cascade EVE24 article about EVE player growth enjoy The Monocle Definition |

404 - File or directory not found.
what data lol -------- CCP knows better than the players whats good for their game. SOE knew what was best for SWG too. Better than all those players that left too. |

Considering previous growth in other expansions - a 2.4% growth is not something to be proud of, and CCP should be concerned.

Is it really surprising? Incarna had about 5 minutes of gameplay content, at most.
Compare this to the most rapid jump in player base, Apocrypha. Apocrypha had something for everyone. Miners loved the ore, gankers loved local and the miners, corps loved the teamwork required for large groups, ect.
Content sells.

CCP says they won't do anything that size again. and they're not wrong (we don't need new systems.. we need tweaks that make all the existing space get used better).
but you're not wrong either - "Content" (aka **** to do) sells.
one thing that should also be taken into account - how many people just want to see Sov warfare made something non-******ed (Fix supers, stop the blob-and-bash mechanics)
CCP - What are you going to do to make a Commitment To Quality in your patches going forward? |

A 2.4% growth rate during an economic recession in a highly competitive market is nothing to scoff at.
Unlike Jester's blog, EVE is doing fine. Not great mind you, but its a long ways away from what half of EVE's forum warriors seem to think is a death rattle.

A 2.4% growth over a 30 month period is actually not good at all. Eve for the most part isn't part of the same market as others. Its in a niche market so shouldn't really feel the squeeze so much when it comes to competition. Also using the recession isn't a good excuse either, since people might be justifying staying home and playing a game rather then going out and spending more money for entertainment. What this shows is just what Jester meant. This is not the end but usually a leveling off means the game will begin to steadily decline. The current attitude from CCP and level of devotion(or lack of) when it comes to Eve will only help speed up the process.

EVE is a niche game but it is in no way a niche market. EVE is a game. If you think that most EVE players (gamers) only play games within EVEs narrow niche then you are misinformed. (ib4 EVE players are mature adults who hate games!!!1!)
When you don't have a job, its hard to justify spending money on a virtual life. Have their been any MMOs in the last year that have seen growth? The entire industry is feeling the pressure right now. For example, see the free2play epidemic.
EVE is undergoing a few growing pains at the moment, some necessary and some not. Regardless, EVEs biggest selling point is its potential longevity, something that will come full-circle if CCP can demonstrate a future-proofed game in the next few years.
Just relax for now, the EVE of right now is infinitely better than the EVE of four years ago, apart from all the whiners.

Does this information take into account the people who want to play eve but cannot because they did not upgrade to a video card that could support shader 3.0?
We were given 6 months notice but yet people still refused to upgrade.

2.4% over a period of 2 and 1/2 years!!!
Here's a quote for the last 2 months- "For those wondering what the percentage in EVE's growth was for +60 days after Incarna's release? Before I normalized it, it was up a bit. After normalization, the true number is -0.2%. The normalized +30 day number changes from the -1.8% I published on July 20 to +0.1%. In short, either there's been no growth from Incarna, or any growth has been neutralized by unsubs caused by this summer's dramas."
That looks pretty stagnate to me. At any rate it's a far cry from what our dear leader of the CSM had to say back in April.
"The release of Incarna and later Dust 514 is likely to make EVEÆs subscriber base and revenue generation explode..." -source

When it comes to revenue, I think it may be more drastic - I guess there will be a lot of people like me who have a couple of bill left in the game and keep their accounts running with that to continue training and occasionally have a chat with old mates (who are on less and less).
Maybe I'll start playing and paying again if CCP eventually decide to change things in the actual game rather than trying to ram their WOD alpha down my throat.
Only CCP knows the true numbers, but I guess this plex firesale is a pretty good indicator.

To be honest, I was expecting a much sharper and much faster decline after the :18months: thing. Mostly just stagnating subscription counts are not THAT bad of a deal. I'm curious how the things will develop after they allegedly restart developing EVE's "spaceships in space" part more actively//aggressively.

That explain why the plex price didn't drop. It's not because of that nex store, but because people switched to plex subscription, with a mix of speculation in this.

Its not as bad as the naysayers say.
If there is flat growth because people left...
Then profits for CCP are up because NEX items are selling...
And CPU load is down because bots have been banned.
I get less lag, a better economy, and CCP get enough money to keep everything running.
I think a lot of people are just bitter because they want Dust and WoD to fail so they can say "told you so".
I doubt that will happen. . Adapt and overcome or become a monkey on an evolution poster.

When they release a finished Incarna, not the single-player prison cell that they called Incarna 1.0, and we can interact with people (as you do in MMOs) and do stuff it might be quite interesting.

I just highlighted the parts where you are wrong. First there is no "If", there is no growth. Second if profits were up there would be no need for the plex sale . Third, people have been abusing the bot reporting feature. So in actuality all we're getting is less lag since there is less people on, a stagnate economy, and CCP try to find enough money to keep everything running
