What now man??? I did those horribly uninformative training missions...what now? Those things cover like, 2% of the info you need in EvE.
For starters are there any OTHER large scale training corps like EvE University? Respect to what they do but the application process to my real life university was quicker and simpler.
Is there a streamlined, one stop shop site to go to to learn the game? Damage types, ships, glossary of terms, etc??? Seems like there are like 5,000 diff resources and many of them conflict. It shouldn't feel like I'm studying for the friggin LSAT while trying to learn a video game....this ridiculous. I don't mind taking time to learn but holy crap.
(Fully expect SOME exp players to flame for this. I'm used to it. People get exp then act like they've forgotten how it is to be new and get some sort of ego boost from trashing new players. I deal with losers like this IRL all of the time, so it's no big deal).
So yeah...I'm basically just trying to streamline this whole learning process. What are some good Corps to join to learn? Good places to go to learn the VERY basics of the game.
I also notice that this game, unfortunately like many MMOs is very exclusive. The exp players have all of the money, items, influence and pretty much make it impossible for newer players to get in and learn through them. So we pretty much have to figure it out. My SP aren't even in the 7 digits yet....some corps are asking for 50 million SP minimums??? How high does it go?
You basically can't join a decent corp until you have that much SP??? So I basically have to play by myself until then? If so then this'll just be a little side hobby until something else comes out. A friend of mine referred me to this game, but he stopped playing. Not going to pay just to log in, put some skills in queue then log off, which is basically all I do now., and have been doing for the last 2 weeks. If this is how it is up until the millions point in SP then...yeah....not for me. |

Relax..... enjoy the sights.... and forget about trying to learn everything immediately.
Eve is a game of patience...... eternal patience....
Find a corp that accepts new players, and has a decent number of players, and enjoy the game doing what you can at your current skill level. |

I want to have fun.
My interests mainly lie in PvP, but I'd like to LEARN about everything I can. Just seems like the information is all over the place.
Take ammo for instance. I can't really seem to find a SOLID place that will just tell me all about ammo in game. The pros and cons of each, blah blah blah. I've listened to some E Uni lectures in their archives, but they don't get into detail. |

Well, don't do lasers they suck.
Also, I hope you like to read, if you want to learn you need to read alot of stuff. I suggest the forums and just google stuff if you have a question, thats how I learned the basics. A narrow mind is a focused mind. |

Hi my friend. Do you have an account on Somethingawful or Reddit? If so, then you should join Goons or TEST. They are the best newbie training organizations in the game. Your observations about Eve University are pretty much standard, and its really not a great place to learn how to pvp because of their overbearing rules and restrictions. I recommend checking our the Eve Uni wiki though, as it is a good public resource (Goon and TEST wikis are much better, but unfortunately private). As far as joining corps, I would check out the recruitment forums on this website. For every "elitepvp" corp that requires 50m sp, there are many who take newbies and nurture them. Do some reading on there, and you can find a good match that suits your TZ and interests. |

Where in my post did I ask for instant satisfaction?
"Weed out"???
Feel like one of the "Cool Kids" now huh?
"Take THAT you jocks and cheerleaders from High School!!!"
Have sex dude.
Why in God's name would someone WANT people to be excluded in an MMORPG??? Wouldn't you WANT new players to be able to learn more efficiently (which is all I asked for)?
If not for us, who are you going to shoot at? Sell to? Pirate? (I'm seeing countless threads of exp folks complaining about how empty nullsec is). Don't you want to ATTRACT more people??? I just don't get this "I only want 10-20 special snowflakes like me to play this game" mentality.

Although I think E-UNI is a great place to learn the game, RvB is also highly recommended too. I started last year and found Korgan Nailo's ready reference sheet a "must have" until the information becoame second nature.
Even if you don't join E-UNI, remember that E-UNI resources on the Uniwiki are available to all. I highly recommend the recorded classes section for whatever in the game takes your fancy.

It isn't about wanting people to be exluded. The point is you're complaining about the difficulty you're having learning the game and yet you are unwilling to read, ask questions in the proper forums, or put any effort into learning these things yourself. Basically you want it to be handed to you. That is a laugh.
What university did you get in to whose application process was less intensive than EVE Uni? Was it a good one? |

I tell you what.
I have started this game solo. I have read guides and tutorials about game mechanics for the first two weeks straight, while i ignored the tutorials and just skilled for a hauler, bought one and started hauling stuff through systems, including lowsec.
I never had anybody hold my hand and i never had anybody help me. I always found a way to find out what i can do, what can be done, what can't be done and how to find the appropriate information. I never cared about what others did and i definitely had no need to think in categories of "will i mine, or will i mission, will i do exploration ?" ... i just did what the tools i had enabled me to do !
There's, besides http://wiki.eveonline.com, tons of information out there ... some might be inaccurate, but most definitely isn't. There are guides out there and there's all the ingame information and youtube tutorials.
What the **** is wrong with you ?
Others made it too, why can't you ??

I'm sure most eve players actually did begin like that. That's how eve is. Eve players generally are people who can figure things out for themselves, and usually want to as well. If you want things handed to you, you're playing the wrong game.

From a non elitist working type, eve takes time, unlike many MMO you need bit of time to skill up for all you want to do, if it seems that long time players are snobs (some are give you that) but realize you don't understand where they're coming from, you trust people here you often get screwed over and finding all the juicy spots is a matter of 1. You go explore, 2. Have connections with players, 3. Read online, sure there's super rich players that's what happens when you skill up and have a plan, or buy your way to the top, but to be honest it sounds like eve may not be for you. Good luck. |
