CCP Gargant wrote:The infantry is coming. We all know that when DUST 514 is released, the grunts will have some impact on how we spacelords conduct our business. But how will they go about communicating with us? CCP karkur has written a dev blog detailing exactly that; how dusties and capsies will be besties in the same chat rooms. Read it all here.As always we want to hear your constructive thoughts and comments in this thread, so post away. you guys keep removing features with your updates.. first the UI and now the chat. To be honest to me these updates is more "downdates" than "updates". Im not gonna bring up the UI stuff as you aparently allready dont give a **** about the what some of us think about the UI and I am going to stay on topic and talk about the chat as that is what this is about.
Some chats did not automatically list all users in the chat those chats you had to select to ither display who have placed a chat message or that you could show members in delayed mode. and every time you pressed the delayed mode button in the upper top of the chat it manually updated the member list. this manual updating of the member list was very usefull if for the allience chat for example. The button were laying convenient and you needed just to click it once and then it refreshed the list. now if you gonna do that you have to click on the at drop down menu, un-check and then re-check it. This "Upgrade" did not improve any of my game experience it added usless extra clicking time even tho we are talking about a second in length but to me none of the other changes matters because i have no use of them, but i did have use of the very feature you removed! so thanks for the "downgrade"
now to make this reply into "contstructive criticism":
Bring back the button so I can quickly update the channel member list in one click |

In the member list, can I be a member of my own corporation, alliance, or fleet? I don't like seeing myself as neutral to me. I LOVE ME!

Can we opt out of Dust?
I am pissed CCP have been using subs to pay for a console game and want nothing to do with the damn thing. Eve developement has been **** poor over the last two years as resources are directed towards a game doomed to fail and maybe take Eve with it.

It just hit me...if CCP put DUST 514 infantry on Caldari Prime...it could be theoretically possible for we players, to recreate the Caldari-Gallente war for Caldari Prime! Minus the capital ships of course!
It would take a lot of work to put together, and a lot of cooperative wardeccing between Caldari-Gallente corps, but this could be AWESOME now that we have common chat! |

Rommiee wrote:If the bunnies are hidden from the member list, then the counter should also be changed. It should only display the number of pilots/bunnies that you have chosen in the settings. Or at least make that another option.
There is no reason to do otherwise. If you don't want the bunnies in the member list, why the hell would you need to know how many are in system ?
Oh yeah, and we need to be able to filter out their messages also. Local spam from a bunch of 14 year olds and all that. CCP karkur...... Don't you think that this makes sense ? Can you please explain the logic behind doing it the way you have ? It does make sense to me that you see how many of them are there, even though you choose not to display them.

Also, I see that we have new counters that show how many capsuleers and how many bunnies there are, is it possible to get a "red/wartarget" in system alert counter for local chat member list? Seem a bit of a waste of highlighting tbh... I already know what I wrote and if I need to get back to it for a re-send ctrl+arrow works fine. Much more useful would be highlighting chat when someone speaks to me, as laid out in this ideas thread: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=97035 It would be cool to do some sort of highlighting if your name appears, but that was just out of scope for what we were doing with these chat changes.
I like the message highlighting to see what has been going on in the channel since I last spoke (I always do that in the help channel, look for my nice blue text and read from there). CCP karkur | User Interface Programmer | Team Pony Express | @CCP karkur |

Something else that would be cool is if the patches actually did not downgrade the game from something efficient and functional to something frustrating. I do not mind, DUST and all those other changes I just want the convenience that existed before to remain, that would be "cool". |

I have my local chat moved off the left side of my screen, so that I only see the list of players. I have no need to read the spam in local, so the chat doesn't need to take up screen space. However previously this would hide the local member count. Now I can see the counter and still keep the spam away! Yeah, but the counter is meaningless, as it includes all the bunnies playing on the planets. I would love to see the ability to highlight text from myself and dust bunnies extended to some client side way to highlight different speakers or groups of speakers with different colors.
IE in a coalition channel highlight myself with one color, dust bunnies with another, my corpies or alliance members with another, and other alliances with others or not at all. That way I could quickly differentiate between them.
Either way, awesome improvements, keep up the great work! |

you should have the ability to select who the player wants their posts to be highlighted by selecting their posts to be colored-in corp or alliance chans this could be used to set apart a specific leaders comments to cut thru the general chatter for impt info
and you prob will want to give each community (eve and dust) the option to block each others posts |

To save place for the chat windows, couldn't you just introduce multiline tabs please? we've got tons of chat channels, and practically their names can't be read right now, it's overcrowded. |

I support it! :) However, could you separate the standing and the secstatus-related icons in the chat please? And if someone's status changes (gains global, joins my fleet, etc) make the chat update automatically? This is really missing.
