For those of you that dont have the original CD with the printed manual Just be glad it isn't like this now, but I can see why we loose skills points now and again.

Clones
Several Different level of clones are availiable for purchase. The standard-issue clone brings your characture back at entry level. Purchasing better clones as you advance ensures that next time your characture will return closer to an advanced level. When your characrture dies, cyber-implants and parts of skills will be lost, but you can keep other enhancements with better clones.
When purchasing a clone, consider two aspects --advance level and loss severity.
A clone comes with an advance range of 1 to 10. The Higher the number, the higher the advanced skills your clone may keep. If your clone has an advanced level of 4, for example, you'll keep all skills with a level of 4 or lower.
Loss severity is figured as a percentage range from 1 to 50. It represents the chance your characture will lose skills higher than your clones advanced level. Using the foregoing example, if your clone has has an advanced level4 with loss severity of 40%, then all skills level 4 and below are protected, but all skills level 5 and above have a chance of upto 40% of their respective training points.

I can confirm this happened to me as well. Got podded and lost 3 days on my Iteron 5 skill. No implants were in. 100% positive clone was up to date.

SIGNED! What's more alarming tho is that I've got over 110 different skills so I'd probably never notice any SP loss lol.. but wtf, this should be top priority stuff when it comes to debugging!!!

hmm, lol i never thought id hear this again.
What I mean by that is that a mate of mine recently realised that a lot of this level 4 skills had dropped one level. They dropped but not much but he was kind of shocked when he looked at his gunnery skills and the majority of them where at level 3 instead of the level he had before.
lol, i'll have to tell him he is not the only one that its happened to.

I wonder how many people this has happened to, cause it would be pretty easy to miss if it wasn't a skill you used all the time.

Yikes! This is starting to sound quite bad.
Took 17d to train up PE5 (my int/mem sucks) and I cross several 0.4 or lower areas on daily basis. So far managed not to run into a pirates but loosing +3 imps hurts but doesn't kill but loosing 17 days WORTH of training time will.
If it happens I might actually start consider going back to AO. Atleast when you die there you won't loose the exp points :P -- Currents ships lost in Exodus: 3x Moa, 1x Kestrel, 1x Merlin

one way to beat is to rotate yorue skil training ie advance so far on level 5 then switch to next one - i guess the data is updated at 1 hour intervals or downtime - so if youre part trained 5 different skills does it reset them all back to zero or the one you are training.

I never saw the point in losing SPs when you get podded, even if you have an up to date clone. Is there logic to this that I missed, or what?

Well even if your clone can hold 3m more sps then you currently have you still run the chance of loosing Skill Pts.

Well, I want to fully know how the thing works. Can i buy a clone that is 100% no SP loss ?
Skillpoints to me are the most important part of the game, and this makes pvp even less attractive, if true.

If this ever happened to me, I would send CCP a steady stream of messages that would get steadily more indignant and assertive, and I would not give up, period. I suggest everybody else do the same if this happens, because eventually CCP will give in if you have a good point and they screwed you over. It just makes their life easier if they can get you off their back.
But then again, I'm a very persistent and vindictive person. You may be of a kinder nature. ___________________________________________ ^^^***---All things serve the Beam---***^^^ |

sigh...
Why are people so hung up on their skillpoints? It's like measuring your ****.
If you got only 1cm, you're indeed screwed. If you got 15 or 16 cm it literally doensn't give a f*ck.
