For those of you who want the Raven requiring more missile skills, I think you overlook some very important points:
Not all Caldari ship classes have missile only ships. In fact, only the Kestrel is a pure missile ship, followed by the Caracal and to a lesser extent the Cerberus. Scorpion and Raven can be considered pure missile if you fit 'something' else in the empty high slots which don't do any good to damage especially for the Scorpion.
If you require Caldari to spend the same amount of time as turret users to be effective at missiles, you ask them to spend twice the time as turret users to use most of their race ships.
Some argue that minmatar ships often feature missile hardpoints and so face the same problems as Caldari. While this is correct, pointing at a problem doesn't bring a solution, and you can be a fully effective minamtar pilot without training missiles, which is hard if not impossible for Caldari.
Missiles in PvP are junk excepted in very rare occasions, especially against frigates which has gone overboard these days. On the other hand, if large missiles lose their ability to take out frigates, flying BS will require support everytime which will not be appreciated by all.
Once and for all: could we drop those endless threads about missiles and raven and encourage CCP to redesign the whole missile system instead of arguing pointlessly like if there's no tomorrow ?

Being bored with a ship is not a sufficient reason to change it, in my opinion. If you feel you have exhausted the usefulness of your ship, train for a HAC and do level 4 missions in it. That is not boring. ---

One of the guys who i fly with has done damage of over 1200 with his thron He has some pretty uber skills including large rail specialization. My raven OTOH can only hit for 600-700 even with decent skills and you also have to factor in missile flight time and defenders.
Raven is a great NPC Ship but a poor ship for PVP. Leave it like it is and let the PVP pilots train for geddons and throns

As a CALDARI, i don't want other races giving ANY advice about OUR supreme BS. Only WE Caldari know our ships and our technology.
If we change it is not for worst, it's to INCREMENT it's power Selling Raven BPC ME20 3M at Yulai 1st Station |

No way, Caldari ships use the most missles of any race in the game, don't take that away from the biggest ship of the Caldari race (\_/) (O.o) (> <) This is Bunny. Copy Bunny into your signature to help him on his way to world domination. |

Nobody is trying to... If the Raven has 4 Launchers 6 Turrets it still has the most missile slots together with the Typhoon and Tempest.
The balance factor is that all major combat ships except for Dominix and Armageddon which use Turrets only use a combination of guns and missiles. Raven uses only missiles.
If you balance missiles to be equal to guns just for the Raven it becoms pointless to have missiles on a ship that already has guns.
If you balance them to be a good secondary weapon for ships with guns (Which is what they are on the vast majority of ships) the Raven sucks.

It does sound to me that we are talking about Tempests? Four or six guns and the rest launchers, reasonable PG, CPU, and the flexibility of enough of each of mid slots and lows, so that you can shield tank, and increase gun damage output, or armor tank with an afterburner, AND it's fast, AND has a resonable drone bay. Or go completely the other way, and set for long range sniping.
I know some awesome Tempest pilots. It does indeed sound like training a new ship type is in order. And T2 guns on the thing. Nice.

Originally by: Harry MacDougal More skills for missile boats would lengthen the amount of time it takes someone to be decent in a missile boat, but it won't change the fact that the Raven is the preferred vessel for lvl4 missions (in fact, they will make it more so).
So a raven pilot can get into a good ship and use missiles from the word go, big deal, it takes a considerably longer amount of time to get decent skills enough to be able to sustain the ships tank/shields setup, i like newer players in ravens, they put up a fight alright thinking their invincible coz their in a torp spewing raven, then when their tanks breaks, they die, and die fast....
Bring in more raven pilots i say.
