Mods don't lock, the answer has been found for all those who doubt its existance.
How do you guys think we can apply this to instajumps?
My suggestion:
A "Golden Ratio" between player skills and modules and the effects of coming closer to the gate for jumping. _____________________________________ Perpetually driven, your end is our beginning. "Can I be a consultant for EVE II?" - WhiteDwarf |

Its a legitimate discussion, so far EVE has been balanced on the extremes.
Devs have to take in mind that in the quest for balance, not one side must favor the other. The Golden Ratio implies that there will be fairness for both sides.
Take missiles for example:
Should work as good as they do against battleships right now but need to have their ability to pwn smaller ships reduced. As opposed to a grand nerf that leaves them the useless toys they once were. _____________________________________ Perpetually driven, your end is our beginning. Lets break it down for those who are still confused.
Golden = good, expensive, worth a lot, GREAT VALUE
ratio = proportionality of two factors
So clearly, what the Golden Ratio refers to is a proportionality that adds great value. Value could be defined as the positive effects it has on EVE as a whole.
How can it lose? _____________________________________ Perpetually driven, your end is our beginning. "Can I be a consultant for EVE II?" - WhiteDwarf |

The golden ratio is well known in architecture and is found heavily in the elements of nature, and it is known as the golden number 1.63 something like that. This ratio allows for balance against destructive elements that tries to topple the structure.

Yeah. I think that is the general idea. But the golden ratio is to say it midly. Bogus, atleast when it comes to such things. It's a philosofical idea comming from the napoleon era. Where the search for the perfect number and absolute formula of perfection. In essence it have no merrit in the modern world. Artists and Architects trough the last 300 years have tried to make the perfect building. No such thing exist becus what is perfect is subjective. Well for anyone who is wondering why golden ratio is mentioned too often in this forum thread, it's because I posted a question related to the golden ratio on the dev chat.
Here's the question I posted : "My question is following, when are you doing to rectify the fun factor/work factor ratio in the game? usually people tend to pay for games who gives more fun than more work. So when are you trying to balance that? I'd give you a suggestion: golden ratio."

A mere coincidence? I think not.
The number 1.337 is also very close to 1.618. -

I think I understand now tbh, it's about nothing.
Now, let me read some kind of log form that chat. I'm gonna decide wether or not to extend by subscription based on it. This golden ration crap is not really helping there :/

Is it sometrhing like the new soon(tm), only rationalising not delay but half-hearted attempts at getting somehwere for real ?
Of course, I might jsut be totally wrong and overly negative on this one, but somehow I doubt it
Yep, CCP has coined another one of those catchy catchphrases:
- TomB's NerfbatÖ - SoonÖ - Reversed ExodusÖ - Golden RatioÖ
SoonÖ available on mugs and T-shirts designed following the Golden RatioÖ (female sizes not included because of lack of interest)
You can choose your personalized line like: - "I participated in the Reversed ExodusÖ and all I got was this T-shirt and hit in the face by TomB's NerfbatÖ " - "CCP's deadline "SoonÖ" follows the Golden RatioÖ
In our store SoonÖ
Golden RatioÖ FTW!!!
