any way you could make it so loot cans dont start their timer for disapearing until after a mission is finished? I"m doing a lv3 guri extravaganza and couldn't enjoy myself and take my time because im scared all my cans are going to disapear. I really wanted to take a ***** at that Raven in the end of the mission but I doubt that I'll have the time to try him.
this is for a lv3 mission.. just in case people wanted to complain about lv4 missions and how easy they are :P ________

well instead of wasting time posting on here while your timer is ticking, how about you get back and finish the mission. Then maybe you will kill the Raven at the end And pick the loot cans up... *sigh* ----------------------------------------------- |

Edited by: ErrorS on 11/04/2005 02:55:23 and I was at 1hr, 30mins into the mission when I posted this. I had one area left to finish and had to run back to the station for ammo. I got all the cans but didn't bother to try the Raven :\
missions would be more fun for me if I had to spend less time worrying about getting my loot cans in time. I like to take things slow while playing, this is a relaxing game for me. Timers in games annoy the hell out of me. :P ________

The loot in complexes is horrible, I never bother to pick it up, unless its directly in front of me. Maybe instead of this "favor" you'd ask devs to make the loot actually WORTH picking up? _______________________________________________

ok? whats the point of you telling me this?
and pick up as I go? My Ferox is a long range ship. I often times have cans 50km away form each other in 5 different groups. It would take me hours just to clear the single level of a deadspace mission in this ship.

Boomark a can at each point in the mission, come back with a decent looting ship.

what would be cool is if they implemented salvage drones that could loot cans at a distance. Would speed things up. Know it has been mentioned as part of their drone revamp. But that isnt slated untill kali probably i suspect.

Just keep a looting fast ship in system with you. It's a bit of an hassle, but you can do, say, first 3 stages, warp back, pickup loot from them with your fast loot ship, warp back again and finish the mission. (Takes time, but if you really want the loot and cans are about to pop it's the only way).

Blatently untrue.
I picked up a local hull mod cargo expander (40 mill) and a beta hull mod cargo expander in the same wave that was only cruisers and frigs just yesterday.

Not possible in dead space missions. Well - you can create a BM but it will never be as good as you expect -- (Battle hardened miner)

You CAN bookmark deadspace locations.
Complete a mission and tell your agent, go back and voila - your cans are there.
No wonder people get confused, lots of things being stated as facts when they are actually rumour.

I'm sure there are plenty of younger players who would be willing to follow you round scooping your loot for very modest pay, and think it a great deal. And if it's loot you'd not have seen anything of anyway, then any cut is a bonus for you. Heck, get an alt and do it yourself. With good use of gang commands and aggro control, I can quite happily fight on one account and scoop with the other.
Originally by: Andrue Not possible in dead space missions. Well - you can create a BM but it will never be as good as you expect
Do it properly, and with the least amount of brainpower, and the BM's will be perfect.
The key thing to remember here is that the deadspace area is only there for the duation of the mission, but the loot cans remain till they pop naturally. To see this, try this (rather amusing) experiment. Get a deadspace mission, do it, but leave a friend/alt in the deadspace area while the main goes and registers mission completion with the agent. As soon as the agent acknowledges mission completion, the alt in the deadspace area will see all the scenery deadspace etc dissapear, leaving only the loot cans behind. As the deadspace is now gone, any BM's you may have made can be warp-to'ed directly, and the loot scooped with all haste.
All you really need to do is make a BM in each deadspace area, and you'll be able to come back for all the cans later.

Yep, thats exactly what I do, even on multi level missions. BM the furthest can on each level, after mission completion I just run back there in my Exeq and scoop away. And I grab them all because even the frigs drop some nice stuff every once in a while. ________________________________________________ From deep in space where nobody hears my screams... I do this same mission in under an hour. Not much under, but enough to call it that....And I kill everything there is to kill, and have time to dock and get my collection ship (Exequrer cruiser) and gather all my cans.
If you're running out of time, it could be due to a number of issues concerning loadout and/or skill levels that are at fault for hampering your performance. Maxing out your none weapon specific AND weapon specific gunnery skills will greatly enhance your ability to kill faster. Likewise with some navigation and manuevering skills that affect ship agility.
The use of hardwire implants that boost weapons and/or ship performance also help out.
Lastly, weapons.....are you using the best type of weapon for what you're doing? If so, could you use a better ammo.
Is the ship you're using capable of wading in at close range and tanking while ripping hell out of everything around or do you need to manuever at long range for your weapons to be effective?
These are all questions that need to be addressed in order for you to fully maximize your mission performance.

that's the problem, I don't want to have the best setup for rushing through the mission.
I kill cruisers and frigates in enough time.. but I would also like ot be able to blow structures up, just for fun. even the worthless ones.. You know, stuff like this. So I can immerse myself in the mission and have a bit of fun without stressing stuff I may be missing.
like when I was doing LV4 missions it would take me a day to finish a mission like Pirate Slaughter. Not because I wasn't capable but because I wanted to have fun. I'm not all about efficiency when doing missions, I do what is most fun. I spend the time to time my shots perfectly so they fire one after another instead of rushing to fire them off as quickly as possible. I would prefer to web and match transverse with a frigate instead of sending a group of light drones after it.
Stuff that adds to the fun for me but may make the mission longer.
It's not that I can't finish the mission and get the loot but I always have to rush to pick it up before the timer is up. I have an exeqeqor for loot in each of my mission systems, a cormorant for missions with less cargo to pick up, i do bookmarks.. I'm fine with this, really. Some of the longer missions force me to pick up loot before the mission is over, killing immersion, frustrating me and putting a hamper in the fun I might be having.
It's not that big of a deal.. was just a small request. If it's not possible it's not going to **** me off or anything. I was just hoping it would be possible because it would improve the game for me. ________

No no, I understand your point. Personally my goals for mission running dictate that I do them as quick as possible and get on to the next one....more missions ran = more money/lp's earned = progress made = my brand of "fun". And it does leave a bit to be desired where "immersion" factor is concerned.
In the end we must all decide what is "fun" to ourselves.

If you're looking for a good looting ship I'd suggest a destyroyer, 600+ m/s with tech 2 ab on and 400 cargo space...can carry quite a bit of loot per trip.

Sigil followed by a mammoth....best looting ships in game, mammoth more suited for lvl 4 as ive gotten more loot on a few missions than the sigil can hold. Sigil for lvl 3 would be cake.
