Edited by: Hotice on 17/04/2005 18:42:24 you don't really need super expensive modules to make prophecy work. It is a super tank already.
4 heavy beams 2 heavy pulse 1 heavy missile launcher
1 named 10mn AB 1 webber (10km 86%) 1 tech 2 cap recharger
1 tech 2 medium armor repair 1 tech 2 small armor repair 1 adaptive plate 1 800mm rolled turq plate 2 cap relays
Use Infrared crystal or microwave for long range (35km), gamma or multi crystal for close range.
This setup is not at all expensive, yet can be used to take down 750k-1.4m raven in missions without much trouble. Try to get some named heavy lasers if you could, if not it is not a big deal. Just make sure to keep distance around 20km-35km. If target get within 18km. Turn on pulse and heavy missile launcher with webber ready at 10km. Don't forget to get some medium drones. They are wonderful to use along with your pulse and missiles to take down anything comes in close. Don't bother to use your beams to hit stuff within 14km. Use them to kill ships further out. Yes, I do have some tech 2 modules but honestly, thoes modules are must have for BS and BC.
Just make sure to have lvl 4 skills in engineering area and at lvl 4 BC skill. This setup is cap hungery but as long as you have those skill lvls. You can run everything forever.

wtf, why? don't tell me heavy missles are overpowered.. if you say it, I'm going to die laughing.
tired of you newbs who don't know how to properly fly a ship saying the reason you suck with it is because the ship sucks. General idea amongst most people is that the Prophecy and the Ferox are the two best battlecruisers. the two best and the prophecy still isn't good enough? it's probably going to be about pulse lasers.. guess what I use on my Ferox? Rails! Beams have nearly the same range, better damage against shields and better tracking. I don't see the problem..
and I don't understand why people say the Brutix sucks anyways.. slot loadout similer to a ferox, more highslots, more grid.. even shield tanking on my ferox my CPU is lower then the brutix's max, if it wasn't for grid I could easily fit 2 more 250s on this thing. No idea about the cyclone, I know nothing of minmatar ships.

[13]
Mission running prophecy(common sense really) and can also be easily adapted to pvp(unlike the ferox, who's low grid really ******* up any attempt to fix sizable rails or blasters on it)
As many beams as you can fit.In general, you want to fit medium beams, heavies are just out of the window and quad beams suck for damage.
1 AB.
1 stasis webifier and 1 cap charger
1 T2 med rep,2 armor hardeners(active),rest, maybe one heat exhaust and the rest cap relays.
Simple and effective.

If you could fit heavy pulse lasers and desired to transition to beams, just use rails 250mm instead. 90pg and 54 tf difference, which would require a little alteration to the setup that was used before the pulse patch and the easiest change would be to down size the launcher to a standard or rocket then make the minor tweaking as needed to make it fit right. The damage is better than the focused beams and saves on cap till battle cruiser 3, where the difference per gun is around .07 cap per second on standard t1 guns. The range is better as well, but the tracking speed is a little less and you wont have to fumble with crystal swapping, but be forced to pick your sweet spot. Using rails instead of trying to fit heavy beams saves you 150 pg, which is the equivilant of fitting the meduim armor repairer, but you lose 42 Tf. I havent looked closely at artillery, but im pretty sure there is a similar comparison there as well.

This is what I use to date: High= 5x heavy beams(250 PG ones), 1 rocket launcher (deffenders and rockets), smart bomb ( for solo DS drone stuf) Medium= Cap recharger1, AB2, either webby or scrambler..or somtimes a sheild hardner just cause it looks funny Lows= Armor rep2, 2x harders, 2x CPR, 1x PDU 9x light warrior drones
She hits at 40k with some skill training or also good at 15k crystal depending and with some nice cap skills she never runs out of juice. I hope to use this ship to train me into an Gankagedon.

For PvP the normal gankproph setup is quite nice,.
6 x Heavy Pulse II 1x arb. rocket launcher w defenders 1 x Webby (J5 warp inhibitor); 1 x Tracking Comp II; 1x Scrambler 6 x Heatsink II or (5 heatsinksII & 1 armour rep II)

Rails! Beams have nearly the same range, better damage against shields and better tracking. I don't see the problem..
I choose to fly a Ferox for L3 missions for the same reason why I am flying a Raven (and Tempest, Typhoon, and Scorpion). It is for Da Missiles.
I wasn't careful in one L3 mission soon after Exodusn and lost a brand new Proph with named heavy beans. I got webbed and scrambled, and was unable to dodge off the inties that got me. If I had a Ferox equipped with rails, I would have the same situation.
That is why my Ferox has five named heavy launchers (Arbalest and XR3200s), with two 250mm Prototype Gauss rails. It is protected by a Large T2 shield booster. Very nice with L3 missions, although the second stage of Silence the Informant would give it a good scare.
This is not a good PvP setup however. Even with five 250mm rails I don't think the Ferox makes a good PvP battlecruiser.
The battlecruiser I've seen with the most PvP is the Prophecy but then I live in the Amarr region and that's what I see friends use. The setups vary widely from small Med Beam IIs, to small Med Pulse IIs, to Focused Pulses (named or T2), to Heavy Pulses (named or T2). I don't think many people use heavy beams although I sell a lot of heavy beams into the market.
The Proph has so many lows it makes fitting a lot of heat sinks easy, making it a small gank ship. But there is another deadly variation of the PvP Proph and that is being equipped with med nos and neuts. Having energy neuts combined with lasers and nos, I think that puts the Proph above of the food chain compared to the other BCs. As for my new Proph setup, it's basically equipped with named heavy pulses and heatsinks, but then a new Zealot has made the ship redundant. A web makes it easier to deal with tacklers.
I prefer a Ferox over a Cyclone as it is easier to tank a Ferox than the Cyclone. More midslots for hardeners plus the bonuses. So I can't see why someone said he prefers a Cyclone over a Ferox. Nonetheless, I made my own pet Cyclone setup with five 720mms (Two Scouts, one Protosiege, and two Galliums), three named heavy launchers (XR3200s) and a T2 Large Shield Booster.
I fit all my BCs with YS-8 afterburners except for my Brutix.
Of all my BCs, I tend dislike the brutix the most. I want to like it, but the lack of grid and cap hurts it. I got one setup with blasters and a YT-8 microdrive, but it's all going to get changed to railguns. I had it flying with five named 250mm rails and three Dual 150mm (Prototype Gauss and Compressed), but I am changing that to six 250mm rails and two small Medium Pulse for frigate defense.

Well whatever. I fly a Ferox just fine in LV3s with Rails (JUST FINE). Just finished a LV4 in one where I had to kill off 3 destroyers at once.. and guess what? I was within firing range the whole time tanking the damage.
ok, I know this doesn't help for the "Ferox sucks" argument (even though I'm not saying that). but heavy missles are crap. I do more DOT with small guns and they have the range of a 200mm railgun. The only people who are flying missle boat ferox's are newbs who don't know how to fly a proper gunboat and in-turn, a proper ferox. ________

Bc is a step up from the cruiser... hence n00bs get them quite early on .. which is good.
But the Railox or whatever you want to call it takes a lot more gunnery skills to use effectively than missiles do . and as most Caldari players start off with missile ships and getting those skills up ... hmm maybe thats why they use them.
Is it a noobish option to pick the setup that your skills make most effective ? Id say it was the clever one tbh

Rails don't cut it against inties, unless your strategy is to "kit" spawns using an MWD and shoot quite a distance away.
That's not good in a situation where you are thrown by the deadspace gate right into fast inties less than 20km from you. You think you can hit spider drones with 250mm rail guns?
Caldari is a missile race. Using Ferox with missiles is also how a Ferox is properly used. Don't talk about missiles not having enough DOT when you factor that missiles don't miss. Railguns do. Heavy missiles also have a much more varied damage type---you can also do EM and Explosive, one best against shields and the other is best against armor, while railguns only have thermal and kinetic.
A Ferox with railguns is intended to fight for long range. A Ferox with missiles handles short range situations much better, and so will a Ferox with blasters. Really, you think 250mm rails would make sense in a PvP situation? Calling people noobs for using missiles don't make a peson sound cool. It actually sounds more stupid. I don't give a hoot about so called "how to use a proper gunboat". Something rides over it and it is called "Use the best tools for the situation". The results speak for themselves. A Crusader attacks a Ferox and tell me if you want to defend yourself with 250mm rails? LOL. A Ferox with heavy missiles makes a far better anti-frigate defense ship.

I sold my Prophecy b/c I didnt like it (Caldari ftw imo)
Prophecy setup:
6x Heavy Beams 1x Heavy missile launcher named
1x AB T2 1x 10 KM webber 1x 20KM Scram
2x Med rep T2 2x Armor hards 2 cap relays or dmg mods
I think the Ferox is a very good ship, and have been PVPing in mine for some time now. I have 18.5 million sps and have all skills for Raven at 5 (usually what I fly).
I tinkered around with Ferox setups, and have found the best one for me to kill just about any other BC. I blew up a Cyclone just last night with this setup 1v1.
Highs 2X named energy vamps Medium 5X Arb Heavy Launchers
Mids 1X 10MN MWD 1X 20K scram 1X 10K web 2X Cap power relay 2s, I switch these out for Sensor Booster 2s sometimes if im wanting insta lock
Lows 2X Med Armor rep T2 2X Armor Hards of choice
Just microwarp in, start vamping, and let the missles go. Dont forget to stick some drones in too, it holds 10 light, or 5 Medium. Up to you.
Its fun for me b/c flying the large boats i.e. Raven I shield tank. So its neat doing the same setup in a smaller ship armor tanked. It surprises the **** out of most people I pvp against.

My fitting for a prophecy level 3 runner (and the fitting I killed Ginger Magician's BS with, so it can't suck that bad):
6x650 t2's, 1xArb heavy launcher 1x10mn AB T2, 2x X5 webbers small t2 repairer, 3xGyro T2, 2xHardners (change as needed)
Anything fast enough in a mission to get close before dying can be double webbed, which makes it an easy kill. I've got BC to level 4 so the resistances are nice, and in level 3 missions, I don't need a larger repairer than a small, allowing me to do more damage faster (the gyro's), and thus take even less damage. Most frigs die in a single round of shots, and with the skills I have, a wrecking shot can be over 600hp. The Prophecy is easily better than a Cyclone as a gun platform, making the Cyclone a useless BC in my mind. Turrets hit targets faster than missles do, so I would say for missions this is a better runner than a ferox with missles.
