Originally by: Seleene Edited by: Seleene on 17/04/2005 18:12:56 I have to say something amidst all of the praise on behalf of myself and the others who have helped populate this section:
This piece of work is truly amazing, no question about it. I have watched it like 10 times and plan on showing it to damn near everyone I know.
But it is another ballpark, you can't compare it on any level at all. As Loxy wrote...it is "cheating". This is not video making from EVE; this is a whole other thing. It's amazing none the less, but I am really amazed by people's reactions to this.
Guys (and Gals) - don't compare this to anything turned out by Leafo, LL, Loxy, Max, Myal, myself or even Zelota. If this is the new "standard" that is expected, I guarantee you that this entire section will die off eventually. Speaking for myself and Leafo, we can't do this. I wish I/we could, but we canĘt. This is another area of expertise and skill altogether.
So, please, as you watch this incredible achievement, remember that this isn't a new standard in eve movie making; this is something entirely different than an eve video and can't be compared to anything made from within the game.
I still canĘt wait to see the finished product though.
Very true Seleene, its not a "video" per see, it's storytelling from Eve.
But, for a second... imagine the possibilities..... *drool*

Edited by: torrinos scout on 17/04/2005 18:24:59 Seleene is right. this is CGI and dosent compare to the others original vids. But that was still awesome vid.
PS Seleene, you and Leafo can do anything you whant if you but your minds into it.

I thought the render was excellent. I give props to those behind who made it possible, and especially the person who put in most of the long hours behind it.
It was really well made, and it has a theme which is what counts.
However, I don't consider it a new Evolution in movie making. It is in a class of its own. The skills required, the amount of hours... my lord.... speechless........
Congrats mr. whoever made it, I give a lot of credit and props to you, you have very good skills and a dedication like no other.

yes i would have to agree w/ llebring and seleena THIS is NOT a eve movie. It is someones cgi of eve.. IT is a veyr very good make of it and i understand how long and hard it is to make a vid like this. I would also like to see the 2nd part to it as well soo keep doing it.. But as to some of u saying this is next set in eve vid's, I dont think soo Lefto and llebring are top in my book for making EVE vids. i think it is kinda compared to a corvette and surburban, both top in there fields but not even close to each other. BUt non the less good work and keep i up.

Original, nice work and good effort.
BUT! It's not boundary-moving, it's not setting a new limit. It's different, it's not in-game footage, it does not do story-telling. It is beautiful though.
So I have to respectfuly disagree with the OP. I'm also not too thrilled by this display of arrogance :) ------------------------------------------ I am a love machine, feeding my fantasy, give me a kiss or three, have fun!

Edited by: Sevarus James on 17/04/2005 20:02:07 Edited by: Sevarus James on 17/04/2005 19:48:28 Props, kudos, and every other 'wow that's cool' comment I can think of to the trailer.
People here are talking about using something like this as EVE promotion, and I have one word of warning: ----false advertising.
Combat, while gorgeous in EVE, DOES NOT LOOK LIKE THIS.
Imagine a new player coming to EVE after seeing combat sequences like the ones in the trailer, and then scratching his head going.............huh? wha?
When marketing games, companies have realized that to NOT insult the market they are shooting for, they MUST keep the 'videos' as close to the actual gameplay as possible. An example of this is the Caldari Pirate vid and the Exodus promotion that EVE produced. These, while stylistically gorgeous, stay TRUE to the actual ingame experience. This video does not do that, and would misrepresent (badly) the engine and modus operandi that EVE uses for PVP/PVE combat, whereas the videos by Leafo, Llebring, and Seleene do stay within the bounds of 'accuracy' in representing Eve's combat system and engine.
Another good example of 'ingame accuracy' is the new 'Brothers in Arms' commercials that have been playing lately....very neat, tell a short story, and use in game footage exclusively.
So while this was 100% in the WOW factor, to use it for promoting EVE, imho, would be a mistake.
To tell an EVE story, on the other hand......hell-b-ya!

Edited by: Draximus Cane on 17/04/2005 19:54:34 Excelent quaility Vid!
Although I have to say anyone watching the video before playing would be disopointed as good as it is it is not a true reflection of the game mechanics.
Is that me in the credits??!?!?
Oh no its the "other" Drax
