I wasn't at the fight, but what the hell is wrong with choosing a differant side then the ones your enemys are choosing? In what rule book does it say that we should be forced to participate in the event in the way that you chooose? We comunicated that we were siding with the serps, and that was accepted.

Originally by: Nelson Vandermark Sorry I disagree with that, we gave up when the devs where teleporting 8 of their faction ships on top of a gate camp on the choke points and would refit them ships to close range than long range, plus the Nemours crops which were paid to protect it.
Covert Ops, plain and simple. The even guys know how to use game mechanics in order to beat hostile fleets. And tbh i think we did an impressive job considering we have been outnumbered at least 2:1 at all times. :D

Absolutely agreed!
Only things that would have made it better is: no alts (amazingly enough, this also means no whining) and no lag. Fix those two problems and I'd claim disability just to play this game.
If ECM is an act of aggression, why am I not on kill mails?

Edited by: Seleene on 07/05/2005 04:38:35 I wish I could say that the MC had some amazing goal in mind other than "have fun", but we didn't. We moved out a sizable fleet and teamed up with a smaller Requiem force to cause a bit of havoc with our contract targets, IMP and thier friends. One thing just sort of led to another and you know how it is?
"Overwhelming odds? No chance of victory? What are we waiting for?!"
Hats off to EternalDark for running the majority of the op for nearly ten hours. Also, the MC and 5ive pilots who participated were so focused and on the ball it was just scary.
The MC will be resetting all of our standings back to thier previous neutral settings over the next 24 hours. -

it was a little bit dissapointing for some in BoB because this whole event turned eve alliance politics upside down
but i was there from the beginning to the end and it was lots of fun, and I managed to survive the whole time, one point the vindicators started shooting at me, but luckily i got out safe
great event ccp, and props to the guy flying that thing all day long, unless you did it in shifts or something
oh and somehow the lag wasnt that bad

The decision of [5], Requiem, and MC to ally themselves with Serpentis was contrary enough that it should have been expected, but it was a surprise nonetheless. Props for that.
In my opinion there was just about zero chance of killing the titan once it had a skilled group of players guarding it. Killing the titan was comparable to taking down a conquerable station, 35 million shields or something. So we're talking about hours and hours of pounding it with a blob of battleships.
So picture that, then add to the picture a group of [5]/RIP/MC BS's warping in to their covert ops at their selected range, killing a few anti-serpentis BS's, and warping out. Rinse and repeat.
Now consider the powder-keg politics of the region - rkk/bnc/m0o/d-c working with FiX, FiX/rkk/bnc/m0o/D-C trying not to shoot FA, G and Imp not communicating with FA/FiX and friends, rkk/bnc/m0o/d-c being allied with [5] even though they wanted to kill the Titan and not protect it . . .
[5] and friends kept the titan alive, but it was a lot easier than fighting 60 vs 250. However, its true that they did what they did very skillfully.
It was an extremely cool situation in hindsight. I am disappointed that we did not get a real chance to kill the titan, and I am also disappointed that FiX's force wasn't sufficient to break the [5]/friends fleet, or to really try. But I will savor the unique dynamic that we were a part of today.

lol they prob worked off their kill list first and then started shooting nubs.. respect. suggest the nubs get on ts and call targets, if there were 200 of em there your supposed bad guys won't survive the first volley, actually you probably don't use ts, just do it on alphabetical order hehe, with 200 you should have enough firepower to make that interesting.

Oh FFS STOP IT. Yes that fleet was massive and NO that fleet wasn't shooting at [5]. Its was shooting at the titan FFS.
Yes [5] played thier game well as usual, but they have to start admitting that they never got shot at by more then like 10 - 20 BS from the ppl attacking the titan. There was poor organisation within the forces attacking the titan and therefore only signle corporations or alliances would engage [5] & Friends at a single time.
Its time someone from 5 comes up with the fraps to show everybody how they really did it: Very well organized, but never had more then 10% of the "Titan Attackers" attacking them at one time.
And yes i was there ^^. -----------------------

k... the 200 person fleet was made up of almost all of [5]s enemies... the only friendlys were BoB. FA, FIX, G, and IMP made up most of the fleet, and the fact that they werent well organized isnt [5]s problem.

Holy crap! We warped into that?! That's lunacy is what that is. OMG, what fun though!
The MC's part in this event was not planned. Our decision process was very simple: when we heard that ATUK and company were on their way to HELP the Titan escape... well, now that was certainly different and more interesting than blowing it up! The only problem was about 150 FA / IMP / G / IRON ships trying to kill the damn thing!
People can argue about this all they want. Both sides will have differing views of what happened that calms thier own ego. [5] / MC spent several hours hitting and moving around fleets that were never less than twice our size. At several points, we could have been driven off or broken up but it never happened. I leave it to others to discuss why.
It was a good fun night for almost everyone, I think. I lost my eight month old Megathron, got two hours of sleep last night and I'm still smiling about the whole thing. -

I blame the actors for allowing players to simply 'side' with the Serpentis, when in normal (NPC) situations Serpentii wouldn't bat an eyelid at shooting them. Hell I wouldn't be suprised if most of ATUK have a negative Serpentis standing.
This just goes to show why there will never be a player run CONCORD or stuff like that. NPC's you can trust, real people on the other hand..
It all sounds a bit dodgy to me and i'm glad I didn't bother.

Which only goes to show howmuch fun this was.

We went to the system one jump closer than you guys were, as we didn't want to jump into a system with 350+ people already in it. When the Titan jumped in, we went to work.
I was logged on from downtime to 5 PM PST, and I needed to log off to get some sleep before work, so I don't really know what happened after that.
I have to say that was the most fun I've had in the years that I've been playing.

Props to everyone in last nights event. It was not just the [5] but there were several hostile camps on the way there that were shooting anyone that came by.
Now, I managed to make it to the Titan and did shoot it before it podded me , so dont tell me it was impossible to get there because it wasnt.
Now for the [5] and MC....
This is a game of alliances and Empires and Standings, Certain actions should affect those standings. To have two IGA's lend aid to the Serpentis to assist in the theft of the Titan, should have grave consequences for their standings from the Gallente Federation.
To this effect I would hope to see a news that from this point on the Gallente Federation places the [5] and the MC at -10 and as such they are targets to the Gallente faction drones in Gallente space.
Now this would go to make the alliances what they are supposed to be which is Emire Nations of their own, I can only hope that CCP has the wherewithall to follow through on this matter.

Jimmysav has a 9.8 standing with serpentis, and his agent was even flying a vindicator, hence why he RPed us into being an escort. It makes sense RP wise that serpentis would accept protection from the person who is one of their most loyal employees. And why are you "blaming" people? Sucks to be you since you didn't get involved in the event, cause it was amazing.
