just wondering which ship i should be aiming for. what are the main selling points of each ship. i know enyo has missiles and ishkur is drones. since i have fairly decent drone skills, i was thinking ishkur, but is it easy to get missile skills up to a good enough level to use effectivly?

tbh it's not realy it's selling point, it's durability and gun rack is.
Personaly i like the green one... the colour scheme and design is ohh so much better.
Depends what your doing i spose, 9 drones normaly says i want to be left alone, a rack of rails is normaly giving them the impresion you intend to nail them.....

I have an Ishkur, which is ok, except against missile spamming PVPers/NPCs. I find that having one or 2 missile hardpoints for defenders in a rocket pod is quite handy.
Drones cannot provide a defence v missiles, Smartbombs are not fast enough to pop everything that's incoming. Look at the missile changes and see what you reckon - defenders for me everytime.

Before I got moved into hac's I flew an Enyo and loved it.
Basically my set-up was 4 t2 125mm railguns, 1 arbalest rocket launcher, 1 t2 1mn mwd, 1 warp disruptor, 1 passive explosive armor hardner, 1 t2 small armor rep., 1 cpr, and a t2 magnetic field stab. I solo'd with it all the time.
The biggest point with the assault ships of any kind is that it is important to pick your fights. No one should try to take on a Caracal if you are in an Enyo just like you wouldn't want to take a thorax against a Raven, just common sense. As long as you don't bite off more than you can chew an Enyo or an Ishkur is a great ship and it boils down to playing style. Do you like drones for backup or relying on your gunnery skills but in either case again you just need to keep your wits about you.

I like the Enyo for PvE. The fact that it can mount 4 turrets and a rocket launcher full of defenders is nice. You can handle most cruisers easily with one. I use a rocket launcher since it's got a great rate of fire and I often use antimatter in my T2 rails so I'm within rocket range. When I'm sniping at long range, (40-50km) I'm out of missle range anyway. The Ishkur's drones are nice, (I've got both ships) but drones are stupid about choosing targets and you have to keep telling them to attack. I've also got good drone skills and can use 9 of them with the Ishkur, but still use the Enyo most of the time.

Actually, with decent skills and a mwd (provided that the Caracal doesn't use a webber) you should be able to take it down without too much trouble

Edited by: Dionysus Davinci on 09/05/2005 19:55:07 Currently, the enyo has more firepower but your going to need help tackling. No on the other hand, when tech II drones come out (If ever >_< ) the lack of missle slot and turret slot will be made up by the nice huge drone bay.
But, I still think the Ishkur is the best interceptor killer.
Also, a Cracal is no problem with an Enyo so I don't know people say stay away.

I've found that the enyo is an excellent point ship in a gunline. With a fast lock time and rails with medium/long range ammo you can kill tech1 and 2 frigates and pods with ease. You can also take some damage and actually get a chance to disengage, whereas a ceptor would just pop.

i had my enyo first, and later on picked up an ishkur just to try it out. as far as weapon load, i am ussing T2 neuts on the enyo and T2 125's on the ishkur. The extra mid slot helps alot for holding targets. it really wouldent hurt at all to just get both, they are excellent ships and fill slightly different roles. this way you can be prepared for anything

I bought an enyo and fitted it with blasters for a small group frigate PvP. (i dont like rails atm)
The ion blasters work amazingly well with antimatter and the rocket launcher makes it a good fight against missile ships.
In the group i had (1x enyo, 2x thrashers) we took out a caracal solo and a rupture without losing any ships.
Havnt tried the ishkur yet but it does seem like a nice ship because of its nice drone capabilities... i didnt buy one though because i would forget to use the drones and if i did i would leave them behind ----------------------------------------

Yes it works.
Of course you have to go back to the station to get each drone (or, at max A.S. skill, 2 drones) and then, um you have to go back to the station to drop off each drone when you're done... 20 trips to the station and 10 jumps for each jump you would have normally made if you're moving all your drones... It's up to you to determine if it's worth it. Funny, yes, and hard hitting... but is it worth it?

Well, I'm about to finish Gallente Frig V in 22 hrs and I'm considering the Enyo vs Ishkur question. TBH, the Ishkur looks like a sweet little frig, a micro dominix. I was wondering how well does the Suck-a-Ishkur work? High's mostly nosses, and relying on drones to kill. I can see how it can be kinda useless for killing intys that keep their distance but how good is that setup for killing cruisers and other assault frigs?
I'll probably end up getting both assault frigs. The Enyo looks good too. It's just that I'm not too fond of the rather high market prices for it and the fact that it has only 2 midslots.
Also, for the ppl that are considering using that heavy drone trick. It's easy if you have someone with you in a Thorax. He can just pop out 8 heavies and fly to a station to pick up more drones for himself. If you've got 2 in your drone bay to start with, then you have 10 drones with only one trip. Or heck, if you're with a Dominix you can just borrow 8 heavies and no trips to the station will be needed. Still, that is quite a hassle and is only good for camping gates or stations.

In my experience, the nos-Ishkur is the king of AF 1v1s. The drain isn't enough to hurt cruisers. It's mostly a one-trick pony, but it's fun nonetheless. ----------------------------------------

Not sure the drone damage would be high enough.
I'm thinking of trying a small neut + guns + cap injector setup when I get a new one, but it's awkward. You'd have to choose between webby and scrambler. If you have a webby but no scrambler you'll lose targets and if you have a scrambler but no webby a Harpy or whatever will just web you and you won't get in neutralizer range and he'll spank you hard (or an inty will******you).
If you got in range for the neut though, you'd be draining more than a med nos does, so you shouldn't have a problem screwing over most other AF tanks. You'd need good skills to keep everything going though (energy management 5, energy systems op 5, energy emission systems 4/5, propulsion jamming 4/5).

It depends on what you want. Ishkur is my close range damage dealer, with: High: 3xneutrons II Med: 1mn ab II Warp scram and Web Low: 2 Magnetic field stabs II's 1 cap power relay Dronebay: 7 Acolyte drones (more the better) they are excellent agains other ceptors or some frigs.
My ishkur setup worked great against frigs-cruisers. This is a damage dealing bastard. The enyo is alot different though. You can use blasters and you can also use rails. I chose blasters. Simply because they are more fun :D High: 4xIon II Med: 1mn MWD 1 Warp scrambler Low: 1 Hardener, 1 cap power relay, 2 Magnetic field stabs II
As you see I am basicly much for the damage pilot. I didn't want to go with the rails yet but I tested rails on the ishkur. Rails are just for more long range (wich I dont like). So I would recommend using blasters. You have many options for the fitting of those ships. Just test your self with the fittings.
Enyo: Cruiser ganking Ishkur: Frig killing bastard

With blasters, using defenders is pretty useless IMHO. Only at the approach you'll take out some of the missiles after that they all just hit.
I think a good Enyo pilot can take out two normal cruiser pilots solo (unless they are fitted with nosses).

Shelaria my corp mate and I recently treated ourselves to one of each. So far we have had so much fun in the enyo's that the ishkurs are getting dusty in the corp hanger.
We are setup to fight as a team, Shel uses rails with antimatter and is equipped with a webber and my choice is Modal Ions and Neutrons with antimatter. We have defenders and Piranahs on board.
Thought we would test it out in a level 3 dungeon and it was to easy so then we tried a Phi Serp level 4 dungeon. On our second attempt the cream was webbing the Serp BS me orbitting at 1000mtrs total earnings where about 3-4 million each. we went back 3 hours later and did it again.
Shelaria Enyo - Loadout 1 HI - 125mm Prototype I Gauss Gun HI - 125mm Compressed Coil Gun I HI - 125mm Compressed Coil Gun I HI - 125mm Compressed Coil Gun I HI - Upgraded 'Limos' Standard Missile Bay MED - Cold-Gas I Arcjet Thrusters MED - X5 Prototype I Engine Enervator LOW - Magnetic Field Stabilizer II LOW - Magnetic Field Stabilizer II LOW - Capacitor Power Relay I LOW - Small Armour Regenerator II

We are still playing with the setups but its definately one tough little support vessel. If you could get 4 to 5 of these together fronting for a EW platform or two the results would be devastating.
I will train the assault frigate skill next to increase the iskurs drone allowance and will then start the experiments again.
I love my enyo though.... its a keeper.

1 extra blaster with no cap usage,..PG or CPU,?
drones are a deterant to frigs....but im for the Ish'kur for the 3 med slots only

Here is a simple piece of advice. You don't just train a skill to buy "A" ship.
Make the time and money worth spending.
Buy both ships and try them out.
The Enyo and the Ishkur have a different character; one is a gang baster and the other is drone master.
I put this philosophy into practice. Yesterday I bought myself a Deimos and an Ishtar in anticipation when my Gallente Cruiser L5 will be finished in a day or two.

I already bought both, and both gallente interceptors. I had inty and assault skill trained up before I decided what race frig to train to lvl 5. I trained up that skill based on both the two assault ships and the two intys that would become available to me. I didn't think, "Oooh, the Ishkur looks kewl, I'm gonna train up to get that ship!" I can see how my last post might have seemed that way though.
They seem to both have their pros and cons. I'll have to pvp a bit with them before I form a solid opinion of both.
Anyway, to Sangxiac. I was thinking of running 1 gun, 1 small neut, and 2 small nos. I start the neut first, followed by the 2 small nosses. Once his cap is gone, I turn off the neut. I'll just have to try this out and see how it works. You're right about the dmg being kinda low though.

I have and fly both. The Enyo is a keeper, I use a fairly standard 4 x 125mm II, rocket launcher, 1mn AB II setup, works like a charm - though only combat tested in PVE so far. Can solo 1mil battleships, haven't tried anything bigger yet.
The Ishkur is a bit more problematic, I've tried it as a rail platform but the Enyo is just so much better at that, especially since it gets a tracking bonus and the Ishkur does not. Seems that blasters would work better, and I've had some good results there... though missile spammers are always a problem. 9 light drones rock, though... I should get around to training Assaults V to get the full 10.
One question: do you guys use MWDs on these ships? In PvP a blaster boat without an MWD would probably be too slow to be useful (?), but on the other hand the MWD gimps both grid and cap in a nasty way. Opinions?
