I am pretty sure that an Apoc can tank the kinetic damage resulting from crash. ---- A true player does feel no need to remind himself or fellow players that it is just a game. |

oh and if i remember correctly the dev team was asked about this at least once and said it will not be implemented in eve. which i think is i a good idea, as i personally prefer getting an excellent game where you fly around in spaceships to having an "so so" game where you fly around in spaceships and a "so so" part of a game where you run around with an avatar.

Let it be a space game, but it most be planetary station to land on in EVE, not only orbiting.
Maybe it could be mine facilites and factories to build specific items. It must be eve realistic.
But all would love a planetary Station to land onm :))

no you add a shuttle to land on the planet, and only certain ships will be large enough to have the ability to carry a shuttle capable of landing on the planet and arriving back. Add stations that orbit the planets and allow you to dock and use a planet shuttle.
Adding the planet option would not be in exlusion to the game, if you chose to you never bother with checking out planets etc. but it would be cool to have to discover a planet tha can support life and then have to build on the planet, wars over planets that can support life etc..

ôoh and if i remember correctly the dev team was asked about this at least once and said it will not be implemented in eve.ö The devs must have changed there minds as those planet screen shots I posted are from the Eve engine and the devs said planet landings are due in the next add-on pack.

LeKjart held a presentation at FanFest 04 that included a "proof of concept" demonstration of atmospheric flight. He ran a Kali cluster on his laptop in realtime, flew over desert and arctic planets and engaged some pirates in a Crow.
It may be possible to land/dock on a planet in a spaceport, but there are no plans to allow players to leave their pods. I doubt there will ever be a FP or TP interface for EVE.

From the "COSMOS" update
Originally by: As an example of a mini-profession, we can take Archeology where you go to specific locations and search for various remains, try to combine them via scraps of schematics you find resulting in various stuff coming out of it - everything from skills to ships really. Such a profession usually consists of some skills to learn it with modules and special ships to utilize it.
You will see a couple utilized within the first COSMOS Constellations. They are however not limited to those, in the future they will span a number of constellations, can be found within different levels of Complexes, new environments or even simple asteroid belts.
Mayby they can implement Archeology on planets... they do mention "new" environments!!
BTW I loved the terran chicks running around in E&B "doing the moves" in station

One problem with being outside your pod.
The burning scanner that you rely on for cloning is inside the pod. If you're not in your capsule and you die, it's all over.
Anyway, it's a moot point, development of a full first-person attachment to EVE is essentially making a whole new game.
