The implants were seeded last christmas and could only be traded on contracts until August. After the introduction on the market prices were very volatile for a while and then settled at 40m slowly sliding towards 35m. Next, there are some volume spikes and from mid October the prices start rising sharply, doubling until mid-December. That rise was possible because the amount of CA-1s is limited but it was not due to them becoming more and more scarce. Genolution implants also became scarcer every day in September and October when prices were slowly dropping. What this graph tells you is that the market for genolution implants is highly susceptible to manipulation and that prices can move very fast if pushed hard enough. There is no reason to panic now. My prediction is that prices will be back to above 50m within 2 months. I'm a NPC corp alt, any argument I make is invalid.

Unless It was said on the test server sometime or in some local chat I cannot find record of that anywhere... Probably referring to the note in the Dev Blog from the release about farming them. But, tbh, a gift item is a gift item - we might get them from CCP every year

If you did truly believe that CCP would have qualms about reusing limited edition assets then you could have known better (by following their promotions around the world and the many angry forum threads about that behavior). Genolution also noticed single individuals stacking up huge amounts of the implants and keeping them from the actively using players which was another reason for them to release another batch as gifts.

Snowball launchers until now didn't do anything. These implants are a commodity that is usable and people understand. Of course i't not asking for a forecast, but they have always given notice before of such changes! This was totally out of the blue and impacted this item by at least 30-50% in the medium term.
