Nah, the sentries will shoot you in the next system(s) as well. At least you can tank the sentries while traveling if you got instas.
Recently found that out the hard way :|

The upcoming patch may have changed a lot of things in eve: and some of the things in this guide may be a bit out of date so here we go:
The kestrel: will no longer be able to fit all the standard launchers + mwd. Thus i would suggest using rockets (as this also means you dont have t train up the missile skills as much) due to rocket launchers taking less powergrid.
All low sec systems now have statons: and all stations in low sec now have reprocessing plants.
What does this mean for pirates? Well: it means that there will be a lot more people in low security mining (as low sec ores have also gained a boost in value) So spend time looking at the map for small blobs which could indicate a mining op.
Have fun and hope this helps ------------------

Thing is f you want to go further there are a lot of ways to do it: best way is to get advice from somebody who you want to be like, or find out on your own ------------------

Therefore it is alost essential for all new characters to train for a microwarp drive
This will help you to evade missiles (and take less damage from them in the upcoming patch) and evade turret fire.
Just to remind people that with the new patch, MWD + Missiles = Death

Microwarp drives icrease your signature radius: which makes missiles hit a little bit harder. You can no longer outrun missiles, but larger missiles do ver little damage when you are going fast. In my experience it is still worth using a microwarp drive: as it can help you escape from any trouble, help you "intercept" faster, and travel from system to system faster.
Target painters had their effectiveness reduced: so now a microwarp drive does not = instant death when fighting a turreted ship with a target painter. ------------------

i beg to differ on the matter of the incursus it takes very litel skill to use, and wanders of at a lessue 2km/s with a mwd fitted and dish out FARE FARE more punishment than a rifter or kestrell

Thats more true after the recent patch: as either missile skills or gunnery skills will have to be trained eventually. ------------------

Mr ParMizam
Great guide for rookies and even for pro players.I am in the eve for a year and couple of months.I always been a peacekeeper and goodguy but it begins to be boring so I want to be a pirate also but I dont understand something if I do piracy and my security status is 2.4 doesn't the navy/concord fall behind my tail. Please send the answer to [email protected] .

Edited by: ParMizaN on 28/07/2005 12:16:10 I'l answer here and advise you to remove your email adress from the post.
You will not be killed _ANYWHERE_ by concord unless your sec status is -2.0 or below(sentries will shoot at you in 0.4 and below for agression, and concord will obviously kill you in high sec if you shoot smebody). For more info on where you get killed for having certain ec status' read the security rating part of the gide ------------------

Hey again ParMizaN. Despite the fact you said that trading is probably the best way to make money, I thought about it for awhile, and decided I'm going to be a pirate. Pvp is always the most fun aspect of online games anyways.
I started a caldari with more combat-based skills than my other char(gallente trader), so hopefully this guide will help me out. Oh, and thanks again for the isk.

Beautiful guide, I've taken cruisres on my 14 day trial rifter thanks to this guide.
Heres my hint about cruisers, they are slower then you.
If they are using long ranged railguns or beams, get right up to them in a rifter and you should have no problems destroying them - if they are using blasters - make ysure you have railguns/arty/and are fast enough to outrange them indefinitely.
Make a couple of friends, warp scramble the opponent and shout GET HIM in gang works fine.

Yes, for example in "guristas" sovreighnty space like venal, you can do missions for the guristas. However: the alliance which lives there (the phoenix alliance) may not be too happy with your presence.

It's a fine guide, ParM. Let me add something else.
For those of you who manage to get your security status below -5.0, use it to your advantage. Don't underestimate the panic seeing an outlaw can have on other players. Targets start out edgy because they're in unsecure space and if you find a target near a gate or outside a station, lock his ship. This can provoke your target to fire on your first, allowing you to respond without interference from sentry guns. If just locking them doesn't work and NPCs are nearby take a few shots at them. Your target may think you are firing at him.
Note: This is a rather dangerous maneuver, considering you are exposing yourself at a gate or station. Make sure any ransoming occurs quickly and be prepared to warp out if help arrives. Also, do not fire on your target's pod, should you destroy his ship. This will cause the sentries to open fire on you.
Fly Safe.

id just like to add my two cents for the beginners of pirating.
if you're using a microwarp drive, keep an eye on the distance you are from the target. the speed boost of the microwarp will usually push a good 2k further from the orbit distance you set, this can be a bit of a pain when using a 7.5k scrambler and then setting th orbit distance to 7k, as you will go out of scrambler range and often not realise it without a trained eye.
if you can handle the cap, and youre going for belt piracy then often two 20k scramblers in place of that webifier will give you that extra distance you need to keep your speed to a maximum. extra distance also gives you that little extra time to lock and shoot any drones that get launched.
but thats just me, do as you please and follow parmizans guide, its a good one.
oh, and watch out for "fellow" pirates, we tend to shoot each other as well providing the scanner says they arent blue. _______________________________________________
