I would pay 14.95 just to talk to the great people in the eve community, let alone the gameplay. ---------------

Whilst a reduction would be nice (maybe after a year of paying get ú1 off a month?) when you compare it other forms of entertainment it is good value for money.
Now the only thing that bothers me is Guild Wars. That has no subscription fees, and whilst not being a true MMO there are still server costs, support etc to pay for. Also the expansion packs aren't conpulsary How they doing it?

Originally by: Wrangler Look at it this way, the cost of EVE, 23/7 (sometimes less, sometimes more) is about what you pay for 2,5 visits to a cinema. If you smoke it's about 5 packs, it's a lot less than a night of drinking and partying.

My theory is that you continue paying for it so you can post on the forums..
LOL
I think its worth the subscription, EVE has saved my a lot of "going out" money since ive started playing, not to mention the beating my social life has taken - but meh.
I enjoy reading all the info and topics on the forums, i've never experienced any problems with the support crew.
Plus theres nothing like having nothing to do, logging in and being stimulated by talking to randoms, fighting working out ship fittings etc.
Everyone has something they enjoy about EVE, and thats why they pay the subscription fee.

Originally by: Shonen I'm new, I'm on a trial account. I love the game; I'm having a great time.
But $20 a month? That is absolutely absurd. I can't believe how many people are willing to pay that much to play a game. Game developers should be ashamed of themselves for charging so much.
15 a month. And 12 if you pay tri-monthly.
Oh, and I haven't bought a game or movie since I started EVE--saving me 50-100 a month. -- The best description of alliances, ever:

Great fun to play in my free time, Recently rolled a second account so its going to get even better.
I Enjoy both the PVP side and the Industry/Trading/Marketing/Mining side of things, of course PVP is awesome fun but selling your stuff and seeing people buy it is just as rewarding.
Whats good is, There isnt too much time required apart from travelling if you want to find a fight.

Eve costs about $0.30-0.35 or so per day. For the same price I can get.. um.. a coke?
I spend more money and a fraction of the time on food, and food is less important than entertainment.

This game has saved me so much money.
1) Less going to club 2) Buying less clothes to go to club 3) Buying less gas to get to club 4) Less money spent on Lawyer/Court Fees from going to club 5) Buying less alchohol..err scratch that one.. lets call that a push 6) Buying less 49.99 on PS/Xbox game that I beat in 4 days 7) Less money on my cellphone bill because most of my friends are on TS :) 8) MOST IMPORTANTLY: EVE ADDICTION COST LESS THAN DRUG ADDICTION. THATS WORTH THE SUBCRIPTION IN ITSELF.

The only other trouble is that I pay by the year, which means I have to sit through the really long skill training times rather than go on vacation or backpack around the Mediterranean or something.
I was really thinking about getting out of the house before I resubbed to Eve.

wait, you'd pay $30-50 for a single-player game that lasts 1-3 days of gaming (my average timeframe before finishing a game), and won't pay $20for a game that you can play 23/7?
Hell... I see no reason to ever buy single player games again (well... apart from the replayable long ones like real rpg's and civ-like games).

If you're really ambitious, you could probably find that much outside on the ground every day without much trouble.

Isn't that what most games cost? MMO's that is...
Too expensive, don't play it... simple as that. Goto the movies or something...
Entertainment costs money.

When I think back to the days growing up in the 80's, the amount of cash I spent every month feeding quarters into video games, I imagine that Eve-Online is a great discount.

Sadly, the EU dictates that any electronic supply made to a customer in the EU, even from outside, should be subject to VAT.
As a result, CCP charge EU players in Euros and everyone else in dollars. The impact of VAT and the slight movements in exchange rates differing between USD and Euros are what makes it more.
CCP don't earn more off us, they just have to add VAT on the price.

UK Customers are billed in Euros as with other EU customers. We were originally billed in US $, but when they brought in the change for VAT, we moved to Euros. If your account is still being billed in $, you're a lucky mistake in the system.
