And eve Addiction has no long lasting effects.......... *twitches* ... I hope

it depends on if you like pvp or not tbh, the way this game is headed PvE will gradually be phased out.

look at it this way, every hobby has its cost, Golf u have to pay for golf clubs, membership etc. same with many other sports, but eve/mmorpg is a cheaper hobby than anything else =) so i'd rather pay 14.99 instead of 200 a month for my snooker membership/playtime ---

I don't even play, I think Eve is crap at the moment. Oveur's dev blogs leave me feeling moist around the groinal area.. but until then I'm sticking with WoW. But, you just gotta keep on skillin'. I pay to to skill. :( ----- ----- -----

I can say I enjoy EVE yes. And sincerely, even if sometimes I hate EVE because of stupid changes *cought* lenses damage that havent been roled back like other ammos *cought* I could say its better than other lame MMORPG's where u are invincible, u can only be attacked if u want to, where u want to, and even if u die, absolutely nothing is changed.
I also payed in dollars and not in EURO. Good thing Romania have both dollar and euro currency besides the national currency ^_^. So I chosed a dollar card, and I pay in dollars, heheheh _________________________________

Funny, I could swear that we are heading to better and pure PvP action where PvE is there just to grind some money _______________________________________________ My opinions aren't my corporations opinions.

One of my reasons to why I don't play WoW is that you don't really die there, well you do but you won't loose anything not as I have understood it.
I got several friends who used to play EvE online and some still got their accounts here but have gone off to WoW... and to be honest I don't think we will see them here anylonger but who knows.
They have tried to recruit me into WoW but I just refuse to and explain it with that I don't want to play that game as it does not cost me anything if I do a mistake and die, unlike in EVE where I frequently looses battleships and such Even that I tought that my very first battleship was hard, and had problems with how I was to tell my corpmate about that !!!! LOL.
EVE is by far the best onlinegame I got now, okey I admit it ... I bought Battlefield 2 yesterday so I will most likly play that too!!!! hehe but still I seriously doubt that I will find another game that keeps me playing it almost every day for one and a half year!!!!!!
Oh and those of you europeans paying VAT... move to a non EU country !!! like Iceland, Norway ... and such hehe.

What ****es me off is that im from the UK, we are NOT in the EU currency , yet we have to pay more with the euro being our payment ????????? Why cant we pay in Dollars also??? We should have the choice i think?????? So If we all pay in Euro.then we should get 22% more time on EVE........... Anyone in the world can pay in any currency, so why make UK pay in Euros

Silly englishman, it's not because of EUROS but because of EU and 22% VAT TAX LAW! Beside, your fsked up country anyway . I read yesterday that DHL refuses to deliver packages to eastern london because its more dangerous than Irak. And you guys are in EU .. whoa they let in anyone these days _______________________________________________ My opinions aren't my corporations opinions.

Indeed, this is correct. CCP have chosen, for the sake of convenience and reduced transaction costs I assume, to bill all EU citizens in Euros. The increased cost of subscription, however, is not a reflection of that, but of VAT, which is charged across the EU, not just in countries that use the Euro.
There is, of course, a small amount of difference resulting because of exchange rates being different for the Euro and the Dollar, but overall this is slight compared to the VAT.

But $20 a month? That is absolutely absurd. I can't believe how many people are willing to pay that much to play a game. Game developers should be ashamed of themselves for charging so much.
The question is rather MooT actually... and very subjective.. If the game is worth it to the Player.. they will pay .. I've no doubt some people would pay 20 - 30 dollars they like it so much. Granted the playerbase would most likely shrink like a snowball on a hot stove.. but you'd still get hardcore players shelling out coinage at that level. IMO - $14+ is a bit on the high side. .but I'm still playing.. so I must either be an Eve addict (likely) or just plain stoopid.. Originally by: Bastogne Odd, I'm paying $14.95 a month. Also, tens of thousands of us pay every month, and it's totally worth it to us.
I've just never paid to play a game once I've already paid to own it. Granted, this is different since the client is free, but I wouldn't mind paying $50 to get the game and then not have any subscription fees after that. I played Neverwinter Nights online for a few years and that didn't cost me jack, and that was great fun. Why can't games keep going in that direction?
That wouldnt cover costs. Nwverwinter Nights has a COMPLETELY different economic model. --------- The words "Exciting" and "Safe" are mutually exclusive; pick one. |

You might want to re-check which countries are members of the EU, and which are just in Europe.

You can pay 20$ a month or spend 60$ to 100$ on new video games a month. You cant win eve and it changes allot, the game play, the stories, the player politics,HUGE multi person battles (not just 20v20 like most multi player games) friendships and rivalries.. Thats what you get for 14-20$

Edited by: Badshah on 23/06/2005 16:04:38 If you have played EVE as a trial account and are asking, "Is EVE worth paying this much" then I would suggest, not for you.
I pay for 3 accounts and the question never enters my head. Go figure. By the way, paid monthly, I pay 14.95 per month. I paid for 1 year on one account so I think that one was about 9.95 per month.
Do you have a job? Just wondering... Just me, Bad |
