Edited by: Dworek on 20/06/2005 22:36:00 Edited by: Dworek on 20/06/2005 22:35:29 Since i have to fly 20ish jumps several times a week to help a freind with some mining, i wanted the fastest ship possible. Up untill now i've been using a condor with a 1mn mwd, but now speed has become an obsession for me. I've thought about getting a Vigil with some injecters(2 and one power control unit to be able to fit the mwd anda cap battery) Has anyone tried anything similar? I just want speed and nothing else, all i want is a glorified shuttle. Edit: the Condor goes 2064m/s with the mwd active

You plan to travel afk or not?
For afk, shuttle is probably best. Vigil with nanofibres + overdrives + mwd is ok too. Add a battery if there are long jumps in the way.
If you plan to go back in same ship, inty 4tw.

As long as you don't use a ceptor, vigil will probably be your best bet, but don't skill up minmatar frigate just to get a fast ship (vigil's speed increases with your minmatar frigate skill level) ____________

executor, filled with nanos, and a MWD (II if you can).
Won't run for very long, but more than enough to bounce off a gate at 3.2km/sec.
(and no room for injectors, it only has one mid)

I use slashers for my shuttles.
1 overdrive +30 (or nanofibre +20) 1MWD 1 small cap battery II
with min frigate 5, it HAULS. and they are cheap.
A claw with 4x Overdrives and a MWD would most likely be your best bet. Or perhaps a Crusader with the same setup.

Stiletto pretty damned close to same... but it warp at 13.5 au/s... very nice...
Malediction spiffeh too (better capacitor)...
Pretty funny though... shuttling around in an interceptor... it IS the fastest way to cover them long hop though!!! -- Thread Killer

Heh, those intercepters are a bit expensive for my taste. But i guees if i want speed i should sacrifice the cash and get one:) It seems if i want to stay tech one, its either a Vigil or an Exec.

Slasher for hazardous work as nothing gets to warp faster as nothing is lighter with such high top speed.
Vigil with Overdrives for pure afk speed. ____ If your not dyin' your not tryin'. |

I use a Crusader with 3x local nanos + local OD + gistii 1mn mwd. Almost breaks 6km/s hitting the gate (forget top speed).
I don't know what good this information is, i'm quite bored and about to go home ________________________________________________________

Overdrives increase your ships inertia, so they slow down acceleration/turning. Nanofibres decrease inertia AND inscrease speed. So typically you align to warp faster and get to gates faster with nanos.

Claw with 4x Nanofibers, 1x mwd, 1x Small Cap Battery, and some autocannons (I never fly an unarmed ship, too many OMG-60mil-outlaw-just-passed-in-a-pod-moments).

HIGH: usually nothing, don't plan on fighting anyway MEDIUM: a named MWD, a small cap battery II, and a cap recharger LOW: 3 overdrive injectors
i can get up to 3700 m/s with this (don't even have any speed skills at 5 yet)

I agree. I think the slasher gets into warp quicker than my Claw/Stiletto.
For AFKing. Use a Claw with 3x Overdrives. should run like 700+m/s
If you plan on being at keyboard and running MWD, use Nanofibres. they help you accelerate quicker. and hit the gate with more speed.
Also, find some 3% speed and agility implants. they are cheap, and helpful

mmm. speed. (not that I'm also a speed junkie who now enjoys races in eve. oh no...)
Nanofibres are better for all-round speed, overdrives for slightly higher terminal velocity. and, in frigates, the vigil's the best option. that can embarras some interceptors if piloted right.
or, if you've got the time and money, a Crusader or Claw with named parts and a Gisti-A MWD, and +5% hardwirings and maxed navigation skills. I'm now peaking over 7km/s with MWD running nonstop
and if you're interested in raw speed, evemail me. there are quite a lot of racing events planned in the future for non-combat speed addicts. and :)

4 nanos is a waste imo. I would go with 3 nanos and an OD. You get +10 more speed from the OD. The agility from 1 extra nano isn't much, OD's give -3% agility but thats not much compared to the +45% agility you're getting from the first 3 nanos. ________________________________________________________

If I am carrying nothing but myself, and travelling afk, shuttle.
Otherwise, I love Vigils for a "run about" ship. Light shopping, and light travel.
Mid: MWD, small Cap battery, Micro Cap Battery (or cap charger) Low: 3 Nanofiber Stucture
The Nanofibers are important, they make low security space much more survivable. Forget about getting "to" a gate. At least on that you can "out wait" the other guy. Its getting "away" from a gate that is key to survival.

Well, I like to be able to use my cargo too, I tend to shuttle things back and forth, so nanofibers are better for me.

I'm a speed junkie. If getting from A to B in fastest time is your goal, then do the following. Get frig with most low slots (not sure what it is). Put all Inertia Stabilizers in low slots. Make instas. Viola, that's as easy as it gets. And honestly, training speed will make you go slower. As you ahve to hit like 75% speed to warp, so with same inertia and no skill moding it, and using instas, then slow speeds with high inertia is the best way to go. Kinda backwards, but trust me, it works.

Crusader, Gistii MWD, 4 Alpha nano-fibres, cap battery 1 makes for a good high speed set-up.

I've actually switched to a probe for this purpose, after not thinking ahead a couple times and having to make extra trips. MWD, small cap battery, 2 nanofibers, carry 2 cargo expanders in the hold to swap in when needed.
IIRC, with 2 nano's, it gets up to ~2200 m/s. With 2 expanders, still goes almost 1800 m/s, and has a 580 m3 hold - that's cargo space in the battleship range!
To the OP: it sounds like you won't be moving much more than your clone and its pod, vigil all the way.

Vigil 1mn mwd 2x small capacitor batteries Overdrives/nanofibres and maybe a micro aux
Only cost a couple of 100k's, fast, and can do those big systems in only one jump.
Not as fast warp speed as an interceptor or a covert ops, but I'm a cheap bastard

There is no 'maybe an MAPC' on a Vigil with two Small Batteries and an mwd.
31.25 grid at eng 5. You need 35.
And with that 42.7 you get with the MAPC, you can fit some light guns and a launcher.

I like using the punisher
4 lows is nice, its not too much slower in base speed and has more armor and shield then the others.
