Definately Josh's latest attempt.
Correct, clear and refreshingly professional.
Coould you make it interative ? With like marks you can mouse over and get to see the local situation for that region ? For example:
[FOUNTAIN]
Details: Currently under seige by BoB. Travelling in regions unwise. Contact for Fountain Alliance: caldarichar58923
[TENAL]
Details: Region recently handed over to Xelas by PA peacefully. Absence of conflicts in the area make this a very safe region to be in, provided the locals like you. contact for Xelas: amarrchar34324
etc. etc.
Imo, thats what the map is for. Information, not e-peenage.

@Marcus i was thinking about that myself. Though the best solution for that would prolly be flash, which i suck at It might be possible to do it with HTML/Javascript as well though. ------------------

It would be fairly easy to make interactive - and subsequently updatable.
But then you would have to rely on using star colours to signify ownership, getting a blob to resizing cover the area would be difficult.
Though something to throw into the mix, how are people anticipating showing the impending true system/constellation ownership, as opposed to 'claimed' space? (I for one would colour the jump lines in that constellation into the alliance colours.)
What are people's thoughts on a fully interactive map?

If you think you can do a better job, go find yourself a datacentre to host a box, get a copy of Visual Studio, and STFU.

Is it possible to enter with a not-very-much up to date map ? I'm asking because I'm not sure I'll be able to update my map before the deadline (workfiles unavailable).
The current version is available here.
Of course, comments and suggestions are most welcome.
Also, I almost forgot to give my best wishes to Righteous Fury, and a big 'Thank You' for the dedication in making the map !

mmm very nice josh, if I may be so bold as to suggest brightening your colour fills up a bit (i.e reducing translucency on the coloured territory delineations), id say you got an extremely nice map there...
well I like it as it is, gets my vote

Yes that's right, and I've decided to exclude you from this competition for calling Eris a dog via email. I'm certainly not putting up with that. When you mail us, do so respectfully, we're volunteers not punchbags.
Any further comments on this will be removed.
Best of luck to everyone else in the competition. Some excellent entries so far!

I want one system to be coloured pink and be claimed in the name of 'Eris land of pink dreadnoughts'. You can put it in Jove space, it will be our version of a heaven where all the old dreadnoughts go to play with eachother and be merry.
I ♥ my pink dreadnought of pwnage Mail [email protected] if you have any questions. |

Yes, I am an alt, I want you to see my idea; not my char name.
Personally, I think it is too much work for one person.
We should vote on a style map and in addition, an assistant to help manage the updating of it. I am sure the evemails are endless on the updates as well so a contact person would be a good idea as well,
All the map makers go into it with 2 feet.. when real life kicks it the natives get restless waiting for an update and the anarchy in the forums begin.
Maybe someone else has a better idea but I think its too much to rely on one person to sacrifice their time to do it all

Exactly what part of england do *you* come frome... it just seems like a distasteful insult. ------------------

I guess some people don't understand all cultural nuances. "Dog" short for "you old dog" is used in the US too, as a term of affectionate quasi-insult. But I do understand that in Arab cultures, for example, to call someone a "dog" is deadly insult.
