Lo all!
Righteous Fury is very ill at the moment and unable to do any map updates. He has kindly offered to step down so you all can select another mapmaker.
Many thanks RF for all your hard work and updates over the last 4 months. I hope you guys will also extend your best wishes for him to get well soon.
Selecting a new Mapmaker
The floor is now open for anyone wanting to create regular map updates for the new map sticky. Being the mapmaker and maintaining the updates is purely voluntary and not in any official context.
You will however, be expected to show complete impartiality and only make changes based on information given to you in the thread by other players. The 0.0 territorial map has and will always be just a guide for players to roughly know who lives where in 0.0 and what conflicts are currently happening.
You will need your own or access to a non-advertising web server for your maps. There are several free image hosts on the net and many players can also help you out if you need one.
To Enter:
1. Read the current map thread and study the latest submitted changes.
2. Create your own map and ensure its as updated as possible.
3. Post the link to your map in this thread as your entry.
You may edit your map as many times as you like.
All entries must be in Monday 11th July by 8pm Game Time.
On that Monday, a list will be made and a vote thread will go up where people can vote for who they want.

well this is what I got so far needs some work I know but i'm getting there, need to sort out the regions around curse (the regions are hard to sort out in that area) and need to figure our what i'm going to do for war symbols

Okay, Here is my current progress. I have the region colors sorted, and next is region names and alliance names. If you see anything that needs changing, please say so.
Falloutboy, I like yours. I would jsut correct the spelling of Ascendant Frontier and Veritas Immortalis.
And Here is the raw screenshot I'm working from. WARNING: BIG FILE! (about 3.5 megs, as it's a bitmap.)

Thats the psd RF used for his maps, small font was Silkscreen Extended and the large font was Verdana. He asked me to post this in case anyone wanted to use his work as a jumpoff.

First, Righteous Fury, all my best wishes to you on a rapid return to health.
Second, in reference to killer8's second flash film, I do hope you can understand my reluctance to reply to anything titled "Rabble Rabble........." We all see what happened to THOSE people.
Third, I have the artistic knowledge of a carrot. and think that eve mail, e-mail, all of it is nothing but hassle. I think it suffices to say that I will NOT be entering the contest. However, to those who are going for it and willing to listen to the rest of us whine and complain, kudos and good luck.

All I really have left to do is add the current conflicts. Unless someone specifically asks me to do so, I don't plan to add current NAPs in because the Diplomacy Table is better designed for that purpose.
I hope these fonts are easy enough to read.

Looks good, though I would reinclude the region names (including those bordering 0.0), and reduce the size of the alliance font/build a key.

I can do any of these in any resolution you want (dont have the last gate info though) if thats what youre looking for? (I can make all the dots/sytems same color - to base a base map of)

Note : The map is build from the ground up (ie is not some edited screenshot), based on the relased data, kindly provided by t20 (hopefully he'll update soon with the new and removed gates)
Because of this - I can do basically anything to the map I wish. Size/colors/jumps/viewing angle etc etc etc.
Note2 : Im *not* running for mapmaker - I simply made the map for fun 'to see if I could'

Anyone in the community able to produce a dynamic map?
I don't mean a map you just change layers in photoshop.
I mean a real online dynamic map.
That can be changed in matter of hours/min.

Ok this is staring to get on my nervers just a little and yes i know i am not ceo or anything like that. But i currently practicaly live down in paragon soul and its not contested. Smash moved out about 1 week before the patch was deployed. If anyone has questions please feel free to contact boofer. Thanx deckert out

Well as with the old map, if a faction has a problem with changes they have to have thier leaders contact the mapmaker directly to sort it out.

Agrees with Nez, but would add, make your alliance names slightly clearer and maybe slightly larger too, otherwise it kind of rocks! I like the little warning war zone sign, nice touch.

This may be alot more work in the beggining, but if you were to make a mask (layer)for every constellation in the same fashion you have each alliance on your current map.
The reason for this is, as CCP wants to happen in 0.0 is to introduce alot of small alliances that operate on the constellation level, and not on the region level as they do now. And if what CCP wants to happen does happen, it will make it easier to modify the map in the future if the constellations zones are preset.. Instead of making dozens of modifications every couple of weeks to the borders you have now.
If I had time I would do it myself, but I'm pretty damn sure I woudn't be able to keep it up to date for more than a month.
All in all it is a feature I would like to see in future maps.

Looks really cool maybe a type the name off the alliance and the contested area a little bigger some of us dont hvae the best eyes ;) or maybe its just late and i am tired.

tbh I think it looked better the way it was (more transparent) as it is now its got a bit of a glare to it that offends my eyes.
However, this is still the best map

Since the bandwagon has seemed to adopt yours, as another mapmaker and visual designer I think its important for the alliance names to stand out more, currently they are not legible enough.

I like Josh's map. But I would like to throw some support behind 2ippy. He had one of the best ideas for a map a while back and everyone boo'ed him off just cause he wasn't voted for however long ago the last vote was. He's the only person who even thought about separating each region so that it would be easier to update at a moments notice. Instead of having to redraw lines every time. So, I'd like to request that a spot be reserved for him and his entry.

Josh work is great and is no1 so far but, try updateing it and use different colours for all faction that are on the map... for example blues is used more than 2 times for different alliances...all in all good work.

Small suggestion: come up with two slightly different shades of red for 3 out of the 4 alliances: Vertigo Coalition, Imperium, Red Alliance, and Forsaken Empire,
cause at the moment it looks like all those four groups are the same one, or allied, or something. to me anyway

It would be fairly easy to make interactive - and subsequently updatable.
But then you would have to rely on using star colours to signify ownership, getting a blob to resizing cover the area would be difficult.
Though something to throw into the mix, how are people anticipating showing the impending true system/constellation ownership, as opposed to 'claimed' space? (I for one would colour the jump lines in that constellation into the alliance colours.)
What are people's thoughts on a fully interactive map?

Yes, I am an alt, I want you to see my idea; not my char name.
Personally, I think it is too much work for one person.
We should vote on a style map and in addition, an assistant to help manage the updating of it. I am sure the evemails are endless on the updates as well so a contact person would be a good idea as well,
All the map makers go into it with 2 feet.. when real life kicks it the natives get restless waiting for an update and the anarchy in the forums begin.
Maybe someone else has a better idea but I think its too much to rely on one person to sacrifice their time to do it all

I guess some people don't understand all cultural nuances. "Dog" short for "you old dog" is used in the US too, as a term of affectionate quasi-insult. But I do understand that in Arab cultures, for example, to call someone a "dog" is deadly insult.

Ok, 2ippy drama needs to be left out of this thread. I'm sorry he won't be able to submit his entry and that there is some misunderstandings going on but it really doesn't have a place on here.
Idiosyncracies, for those about to jump in, do not translate well across nationalities or typing.
One more thing, misunderstandings and communications usually clear up fast with the start of an apology rather then the justification of the action.
