Question....and its probably already been answered, but damn over 1k posts to read!
Sec hit from COSMOS rats....existant or non-existant? I got +0.1 from 2 hours of ganking rats in a plex....that cant be right..can it?

When You kill named rat, You gain +1 sec hit (not 0.1) so hanging around in COSMOS is good both for sec hits and standings (if you do misions ofc)

Edited by: Retrax on 17/09/2005 00:40:46 It may seem like the missions are messed up, and the drops are all wrong, but they are all there. All I can say is: LOOK DEEPER. The Wyirkomi Rifles are there....
After completing around 20 lvl 2 COSMOS missions in a Harpy, I now have some idea of what a tech II frigate can do. For that reason alone, the missions are priceless. These missions are really designed for Tech II ships: Assault/Heavy Assault, so if you're wondering why you are losing multiple cruisers to COSMOS complexes, jump in an assault ship and you'll be fine. *****
I might ask devs to include some difficulty warnings for these missions, I mean, there's nothing like accepting a lvl 2 storyline mission that puts you against multiple fleets of elite pirate drones and cruisers... HELLO!
You've got to at least mention the difficulty factor is much higher than normal, if not REQUIRE the pilot to be flying an assault/heavy assault ship in order to accept the mission. *****
I mostly went to Otsela to do more storyline missions in order to increase my faction standings (working towards high quality lvl 3 research agents), but I ended up with a bonus: several nice faction BPs of not-so-great modules.
Instead of just trashing the three or four batches of unusually worthless Cap Booster BPCs, I might actually use them as fodder for reverse engineering experiments... muahahaha!
I can't remember how many cans I left floating with booster charges in them, but I'd say it was about 1/3 of all loot cans I opened in Otsela. Is this some kind of sick joke? Is it a hint that the devs want us to use cap boosters, even though we don't need them, nor want them, nor have room for them? I'm mystified. *****
And now to get two weeks worth of skills so I can pilfer the rare ingredients that make these faction modules which aren't as good as what I already use... is it just me or does that sound like a complete waste of time?
Yet I'm planning to do exactly that. Why? Because I've always wanted to build, research and use crazy stuff in EVE, and this is my first chance.

Edited by: Vaughan on 17/09/2005 09:03:59 Quick question,
I have recently started doing Cosmos missions but events have unfolded whereby I do not have the pass card to enter one of the stages I require to complete the mission.
Despite asking in local if anyone had any spare to donate or sell, I am stuck.
If I inform my agent that I cannot complete the mission (2 of 5) do I return to mission 1 or is that it for me and this agent ?

Look deeper? I've been trying to find the Wyri rifles for 2 days now in the Plagio field beyond the contested lai dai spot...
What am I missing... cause this is getting silly.
and yes, the harpy is required for the number of baddies around here.

Yes, most of the other missions are instanced, and it would be nice if they all were. Sometimes it seems as if someone's trying to hoarde specific quest items, and market them, before people can complete the quest. Floating Cargoes are empty, so you have to buy items off the market to complete quests.
I think I just learned the limits of my Harpy. And my Hawk. And my Ferox. But, it was worth it... I was wrong about the rewards: some of the COSMOS BPs are actually on par with top named modules, and that's at lvl 4 Hacking or Archaeology. Here's to finding some more, and hopefully lvl 5 Archaeology BPs :)
Other COSMOS rewards are a step above standard agent missions, including implants. Very nice rewards in the software department. But, again, huge risks. Were the rewards worth losing a Hawk, a Harpy AND a Ferox?
Yes. But only because they were insured....

Ive been working these missions/complexs for about a month straight. My wallet has more red in it then a baboons behind and yet all ive accomplished is to amass a collection of bpcs I have no chance of building because in the last month (spy station) I have hacked every can in there, a hundred times, for yet another gurista installation manual....
Where are the skill books and why are they not dropping. I have arch/hacking 4, with 3 days to hack V and for the life of me i can't see why ive been wasteing my time..
Except to wait for POTBS beta... :P
When that hits the street, consider me gone...

You dont need very high Hacking/Archeology skills for a job, mines are at lvl2, just keep looking. If You need help buiding those items, just mail me.

ive been messing about with COSMOS missons for about a week now, picked up all sorts of stuff.... except the stuff i want. desperatly tried to find 3 nugo tags, had to swap with others to finish on time. now my hanger is full of nugo tags (ARGH!!), cap booster, nugo rifles, cap booster, hats, cap booster, parts, cap booster, ponsu(sp?) tags, cap booster, lai dai reports, waki rifles.... ad infinitum loads of stuff other people are after, but no miners, they dont have miners, so I cant (wont) swap. perhaps the drop rate is a little bugged?

Dethanor: COSMOS agent locations
Devs: All of the Archaeology missions I've come across are one-time offers, i.e. they aren't offered again if you turn them down... this should be fixed to give us time to learn the skills needed, then come back to the mission later. All the Hacking missions can be turned down and are still offered later.

thanks for the pointer. having moved up to the cosmos area, I must say I never meet a more friendly local bunch, everybody noobies and oldies(?) are willing to help each other. Not long after I posted the above, I asked in local if anyone had any miners, a guy gave me a **** load (TY CB Cyrix!) shortly after some other guy was after waki rifles, so in return for a favour I had recieved freely, I gave away the rifles. Of course there are selfish ones, only looking out for themselves, but I am glad to be counted amoungst the comunity that shares.

As far as I'm concerned Cosmos missions are not worth doing. The rewards are too little and the costs are too high.
The nicest reward I've gotten was a +3 Int implant for doing a level 3 3/3 mission. This is a good reward.
The 5 other agents gave me useless BPCs for their missions. These are bad rewards.
Standing increases are decent. Standing hits are horrible. I lost 14.2% (that's 1.4 standing decrease) corp standing and 4.25% faction standing (.425 standing hit) for failing a mission.
The faction/corp standing loss is too high.
The cosmos storylines are fine and are a nice deviation from standard missions.

Ok, I am doing missions in Okkelen for some time and have diferent kind of bpcs. Those are:
- frigate class missile launchers - rocket launchers - 150mm railguns - various ECM modules - various shield hardeners - shield amplifier - various shield boosters - various shield extenders - various cap boosters
I know that there is cloacking device bpc too.
My questions are: 1. What are other kind of bpc agent drop in Okkelen? 2. What kind of bpc agent drop in Ani? Similar or something else?

The more The Merrier The Chief Executive Panel may have charged only a couple of the mega-corporations with the task of settling Okkelen, but that doesn't mean the others have to sit idle by on the sidelines and watch Lai Dai and NOH hog all the glory. And all the riches, more importantly.
Ishukone wants to keep a watchful eye on the goings on here. I'm one of several covert and not-so covert operators roaming the constellation gathering intelligence. Personally, I'm particularly interested in the spy station operated by the Guristas pirates over in Airmia. Why spend a lot of time and resources to do something that others are already doing? If you are proficient hacker and have all the right equipment, you could do much worse than snoop around there and collect some choice tidbits to sell to information peddlers such as myself.
Ok - we loose 2 hours and Enyo at that mission but dont find any trace of that f&*^%^&^ Guristas Light Weapon Cinsoles. Respawn is awful - very hard to tank it and check conts in one time. Found LOTS of Guristas things but there NO any of that consoles. What the f^&*()# trouble with that? Ill think that if that deadspace is stable and lots of peoples fly to it chances to find mission objectives is "0". GM Q say that is it not bug because all things respawn every day. So ill soon loose lots of standing because ill dont have time to fly after DT - ill fly only BEFORE it... This mission - (piiippiiip) and no one help....(piiippiiiip)life

Those items should be quite common in Airmia. With right aproach, plex is doable in t1 cruiser. I do it a lot of times in Omen and Maller solo. Belive I still have Gurista light weapon console in my hangar in Ishisomo, mail me if you want them.

That things and a few other similar things can be found only in "locked" cans. For unlocking You need Code Breaker/Analiser module, and for that Hacker/Archeology skill, and for that bunch of other skills.
BTW if You like, I am willing to offer You T2 50run bpc of Your choise for any COSMOS bpc You have, no matter how common/rare, good/bad is.

Missions and complex are fun We did one in corps this WE with cruiser and AS. But as always it's impossible to find a book for technology
I've got some BPC, lot of stuff, but actually i'm stacking stuff
I agree that book may be scarce, but not as rare as TII BPO

I want to address a slight imbalance in the mission levels and the complexes they are assigned to.
I recently did a mission strand for Tarak Horkund in Uriok, (Ani) called 'Blind Muse' The first three missions were pretty easy, pick up here and go there. The 4th mission however is pretty over the top since this guy is a lvl 3 agent.
I always figure lvl three agents are doable solo, but when this guy asked me to go to the complex in Traun and destroy a bestower docked there, I have had little success. And even with multiple corp mates, we still struggle and have lost more ships than the mission is actually worth.
I do not know what this might be down to bu here is my speculation: 1. The Complex ship permissions are wrong, as it can only accept up to T1 cruisers. 2. The mission target is in the wrong part of the complex. (Currently in the 2nd level called Overrun Security Corridor stuffed with cruisers rats of 50k and above and a battleship) 3. The mission target is in the wrong complex entirely
Anyone that has tried to take on the Contested Minmatar Army Base in Traun will know what I mean. This complex is either better suited to a lvl 4 mission where you expect to need support, or needs to be upgraded to accept elite cruisers and battlecruisers because it is overpowered for it's ship permissions.
I would nto post this if I had not compared it with something bigger. If you go to the complex in Uriok, you can take as big as a battleship in there, and the dificulty standards are actually a lot lower in a T1 cruiser there than the one in Traun. I was able to get as far as the third level there without needing to warp out, while in Traun I cannot last two minutes before warping in the 2nd level.
Anyway, I just feel that it is not balanced right and the permissions for the traun complex need looking at, as well as where the missions spawn their targets. I'm always up for a challange, but when I am getting about 500k for a mission and I have now lost a total of nearly 20mil in ships there, I fail to see the incentive of COSMOS. ------

I ran that complex Solo in a Retribution.
Granted, it took an hour or 3 to finish it all up, but i found it alot more fun then just blasting in in my Zealot and pressing F1-F4 time and time again.
Please keep it the way it is.
And as a general hint, try to avoid flying a Cruiser. Cruisers can be hit, Frigates cannot if youre clever.

Did you actually do it with that mission though? Because looting the can from the bestower docked in the second level is impossible. By the time you kill most of the npc's, the first have respawned and you don't live long enough to get the loot. Thats my point.
I'm not asking for the complex to be easy, just that the mission should either not spawn there or that it be upgraded to elite cruiser capable, as most easier complexes out there are. Like the one in Tvink where you can take a battleship in there, but would never need to.
If all you are going in for is to kill the NPC's then thats no probs. But when you have a specific objective to complete, it becomes another matter. And like I said, it is not balanced with other complexes and the agent levels. ------
