I didn't know how much they would cost, but am dissappointed that it will run me a couple bill to have one to transport mins/ships in empire?
Ouch, so much for my pre-emptive skill training plan.
I guess getting all 4 race Indy skills to lvl 5 was not the best of ideas, lol...
Maybe I'll start mining the mins to build one. Anyone have that data, and how much a BPC might cost me?

There's someone selling freighters out there for 1 billion a piece, as far as I know. They won't copy the blueprint because it would take a month to copy all the blueprints for one freighter build but only a few weeks to build one. If 1 billion is too much, I don't know what else you can do really. That's pretty cheap for a freighter.

Well unfortunately i don't think many will be making bpc's since a full set of them to build a freighter will take about 3.5 months. If its just a freighter bpc itself well that takes like 60 days last i checked. These things take a tonne of time to build and even longer to research or copy.

Id like to see a new 'light freighter' series come out, that has like 100k cargo space and similar restrictions to regular freighters, thats geared more toward solo/small corps. Ditto on dreads and titans.
Capital ships are nice, but if only megacorps/alliances can feasibly use them its basically just ubering up people who already have everything. So the best solution I see is to have them in different sizes, just like POS. _________________ [SAK] And Proud Of It! aka Cpt Bogus Is that my torped sig cloaking your base? |

Im a solo player, well I have a corp that no one is in anymore. My point is that I will have both a dread and a freighter, so it is possible. I was origionally going to get a dread first, but since I need a second person whenever I want to move in it I think I'll get the frieghter first. Spelling corrections welcome, but don't expect me to edit my post. |

Freighters are not the extensions to Indy's I thought they would be...
Very dissappointing...

You build the components from mins, then the ship from the components.
Copy time for capital ship BPCs is 6 weeks. The comps are a few days, but only 5 runs per BPC. You need dozens of each for 1 ship.
I doubt anybody's selling a freighter yet. They take too long to have built one already.

Then they need to make extensions of indy's, and not something only the very rich can afford...
Only ones who seem to benefit from all these new toys are the ones who have more time in RL to play...
Not saying to allow me to get a freighter, but something in between that I can strive for...
30,000 m3 & 1,000,000 m3 is a big difference. Maybe there should be updates to indies without making them T2, and have bogus insurance, etc, etc which also make them out of my reach.
I never felt this way with EVE B4, but with this new patch, it seems the game is passing me by...
I never got the hang of being in a Mega-Corp and playing 1-2 hrs a day and ever accomplishing anything personally, for myself... I seem to help others get rich, but I'm always at like 30 mill, lol...
I guess I was expecting something totally different...
Maybe in the future CCP could be more forthcoming with info b4 the patch?

Freighters are not ships for the individual. They were meant to be ships to help with alliance logistics.

I'm talking about me personally...
I do have goals for/with the ISS of course, but we all have personal goals as well, don't we?
Don't get me wrong, I love the interaction of this game, I log on to interact. But sometimes I also look at my personal success in EVE, which for some reason has always been quite pitiful for me... (I'm not just talking about wallet size, being able to afford, fly & lose new ships is part of it as well)
Do the Capital ship components require moon mins?
Is there anywhere I can view capital ship build trees online?

sooo cant have a freighter, cant have dread, takes forever to move anything now due to longer travel times. Could really careless about outposts simply to far out of reach for me to care about. And no I am not talking about as an individual but as a while. Kinda like if someone said if I mine for the next 2 months they will put another station in jita. yippe
Yep thrills me.
I really havent found anything in this patch that got me excited.
Only got 1 additional entry into .0 in the region I live that didn't really help anything.
Oh well hum drum is about all I gotta say about the entire patch.

Only dreadnoughts, not freighters, use jump drives.
Freighters are certainly cheap enough to run solo in empire for trading. I expect them to cost around 1.5 billion--not bad at all.
All they require are a bunch of standard mins, cranked through a few factories. Nothing fancy. --

Freighter Build time
1,280,000 second. With skill, 960,000 seconds (11.111 days).
For Gallente, Cargo Bay is most needed component, 88 of them.
Component build time
16,000 seonds With skill, 12,000 second (3 hours 20 minutes) 88 x 200 minutes = 17,600 = 12.222 days
12.222 + 11.111 = 23.333 days
Multiple Component BPOs would be an option, but they cost a fair bit.....

You could theoretically tansport an insane amount of trit

There should be something to fill the gap between a freighter and an indy. What most people really need is something with 50000-100000m¦ cargohold so they can pack up their mining operation and move to a fringe system for a week, grab some ore away from all the thieves and griefs, and then take it all back to core systems without doing ten runs or having to move all the ships seperately.

Hmm. the best freighter, gallente one, with maxed out skills has lil more than 1mil m3 cargo, last time i checked. (yesterday)
1mil m3 => 100million tritanium, as 1trit = 0.01m3
you can use cans however: giant secure ones, 3000m3 => 3900m3
333 cans fit your cargo giving about 300.000 more cargo space, resulting in 130million tritanium being transported in one run.
i wouldnt be the one to empty those 333 containers though :P ------------- This post is nothing more than my personal opinion. It does not represent the official standpoint of Fountain Alliance, or the HUN Corporation in any way. ------------- |

As for cans, loading them would be a pain, but unloading would be easy: Select all, repackage, stack all.

1.5 bill is not cheap - I doubt that 10% of eve has that sort of isk. I have allways had a good deal of play time and have therefore allways been 'well off' by comparisom to just about everyone I know. My wallet maxed out a few weeks ago at 750 mil.
For the vast majority* of peeps I know 1.5 bill isn't just very expensive, it is an incomprehensibly large amount of ISK.
I have no problem with the uber rich & CCP providing fantastically expensive toys for them. But They should also make provision for those that are not so well off.
A mini frieghter/uber hauler is what we need.
*I haven't just made this stat up: Firstly I know roughly how much cash my mates have, and secondly there was a thread on here last week where people decared how much ISK they had.

I am happy freighter cost a lot. Yes it a new toy, and those crying it too expensive i said this : play! Make isk it sooo easier than 2 years ago where it so hard to make money, remember the market was tought, the mineral low (1 isk the tritanium).
Maybe it a elite toy, but those really need one (trader, pos owner) will work hard to have one and they will grab one. If you only need those for moving your hangar, join a corp or ask a friend. Eve is full of friend if you have a corp right? Price is ok, and this is the first time CCP don't give acces to all new toy easy (like all bs). So don't cry. If you need one, just make some isk, it worth it!

I'd say the price is just about right, these ships are there to solve the logistics problems of big corps. A convoy for which u needed 10 ppl in haulers, now only requires 1 freighter, 9 extra pilots to beef up the escort
So I'd say its more of a corp investment rather then a personal one. Buying a freighter is equal to buying 10 BSs, thats even achievable for a corp of 10 members.

Sorry, anyone who has the skills and need to fly a dread or a freighter should be able to make billions easily. For the ten millionth time, these ships are not for noobs.
Real industrial players are multi-billionaires. I knew people who ran a small industrial base, they had around ten billion in stock and probably two billion in T1 BPO's. To the kind of people that *need* freighters, 1.5 bill is cheap.

Geee, I wonder why it would be good to build an Outpost in the system where all your Starbases are in, huh?
I'd also wait with the speculation about what it will cost to buy one until there are actually more than 0 for sale (those few being sold aren't even built yet).

Oveur, what will be the platinum coverage on these things? You're not gonna stick us with the usless T2 insurance system on these things, are ya?
Because of the BPO's required to build these, and the time to make BPC's, you know damn well the price will not be around mineral cost. The prices will be inflated just like T2 stuff because of the BS lottery system... (maybe not to the extreme the T2 market is, hopefully not)
50% mineral cost like Barges (I think that's what it is), or closer to T1 BS's etc?
When I first heard about Freighters, I heard 100,000 m3, so thought they would be affordable. Now that I see they are 1,000,000 m3 I guess the price is right.
However, I'd like to see a 100,000 m3 base cargo Indy, Or the Tractor-Trailer idea I had waaaay back when...
Something that costs about 10-20X a T1 indy...

Yeh, seems to bit a mighty gap in the market from top T2 indy to freighter. Why donÆt T2 indys have a decent capacity bonus û they cost enough but only benefit from being tougher which tbh aint all that much of a concern. As it is, capacity wise, T2 indys are worse than the top T1 indys û why?

I also think CCP dropped the ball on the pricing of the new freighters. 250-500 mil would keep them uncommon while still attainable. The main reasons people keep paying a monthly fee to play the same game are bug fixes and new content. I won't bother to comment on bug fixes, but where's the new content? Freighters and dreadnaughts? Sure they're nice shiney alliance toys, but since possession=ownership in the game, the only corp members who ever get to try one will be the CEO that paid for it. Starbases, same deal. The only one who gets to play with new stuff is the top guy. For the rest of the corp the deal is "come and mine for a few months and then you can watch me fly past in our new ship."
What else did we get in this patch? Cosmos complex's? If they're at all fun the only time joe-average will ever see one is after it's been picked clean. Most 3/10 complex's are pretty much perma-camped because the loot is too rich. You think that's going to change with cosmos?
So, for the little people, the only thing new to the patch is that their fittings don't work any more because of the powergrid req changes of some modules, their missles dont' do much damage any more, and missions have gotten more difficult. And if you train up a bunch of new skills, you can get almost back to where you were last week.
Next content patch in 6 months. Maybe they'll throw you a bone then. I quit from december to may. They added a bit of new stuff while I was gone so I came back for a while to try the new stuff. Looks like it's time for another half-year holiday while I'm waiting for the next content I can use to be added.

CCP wanted freighters RARE. What is so hard for you people to understand about that. Look at the Battleship fiasco with everyone and their brother owning more than 3 of them. BS's were supposed to be the elite of big corps. NOT!
SO. Do you think CCP would make the same mistake TWICE with freighters and DN's? two words people...CAPITAL SHIPS. CAPITAL meaning HUGH! the prize of any fleet. Ships so big and so expensive only organized large corps, alliances and Empires will have them.
So, where again does it say a solo player should and must have one? If you have the ISK and are solo...hey, all the more power to you. But if you don't have the ISK for one then stop the damn whining becasue you AREN'T MEANT TO HAVE IT! And if you want to know why, look in the above paragraph.

Calm the **** down dude!
Something in-between that is affordibale would make more part-time players happy...
Working towards alliance goals is great, but most ppl do not spend 100% of their time "working" for thier alliance, it's a goddamn game...

It would be good for there to be a step in the market between indys and frieghters, as the gap between the two is a little large. Although, any new ship should be closer to indys than freighters.
We've seen CCP put steps into markets before, battlecruisers being the most obvious example.
But, we've coped for long time now with just indys, let's just sit back and watch how frieghters find their place in the galaxy. |

That kinda freaking out cant be good for the heart!
A ship about 1/4 the price and 1/4 the cargo would be nice...... of course it would not have to be a new ship. Maybe some sort of uber cargo expander?

Eh, check my motto: "I don't run POSs, I help you run yours". Most of my success is through trading, industry, services, and skill... --
Want your POS to make money? Call me up. I've designed POSs that make upwards of 50m a day. |

Ya make T2 teansports haul more FFS
... you will see more and more marketing which in turn will bring you more players to torture. |

Considering a freighter has no slots from what i can see, its goign to be a requirement for an entire fleet to accompany it anywhwere outside empire space?

ok if ya think of the corps in games as real life countries then take this into account...the usa has the biggest ships, the strongest kit there is.....this is because they have lots of money....ya dont see korea or other smaller countries floating around in billion doller aircraft carriers.....
firehters are designed to haul but loads of ore and pretty much the only ppl that will make constant use of them will be the mega corps and alliances....seems a bit pointless to have a ship that can haul like 900'000 m3 when all you have to haul is 5 million trit.
get real

Yes, correct, that is why something with 100,000 m3 is required... ------------------------------------------------ Views expressed by this character in no way shape or form reflect the views of M. Corp as a whole. |

well, the dread would make a top solo npc hunting ship for deep 00 system hunters who wont too go at it solo.
a good bounty hunting ship aswell for thouse who are hunting outlaws in BS.
since i am solo and cant afford a dread anytime soon i hope i am not gona be seeing them use too offten as bulling tools too push around small corps.
that will be a ***** too be seeing them used in this way. rater then how they should be used against = larger corps.
There's nothing that a Dread can do solo at all. Aside from the Gallente one with its drones, none of them can hit a frig or a cruiser. Sure, you'll be able to take out BSes easily if they don't get close, but if they do, there's nothing you can do against them.
So there's no real use for Dreads except assaulting POSes and other Dreads, of a large BS fleet if you have plenty of support.

Originally by: csebal Hmm. the best freighter, gallente one, with maxed out skills has lil more than 1mil m3 cargo, last time i checked. (yesterday)
1mil m3 => 100million tritanium, as 1trit = 0.01m3
you can use cans however: giant secure ones, 3000m3 => 3900m3
333 cans fit your cargo giving about 300.000 more cargo space, resulting in 130million tritanium being transported in one run.
i wouldnt be the one to empty those 333 containers though :P
select all, repackage, empty they are....
