I didn't know how much they would cost, but am dissappointed that it will run me a couple bill to have one to transport mins/ships in empire?
Ouch, so much for my pre-emptive skill training plan.
I guess getting all 4 race Indy skills to lvl 5 was not the best of ideas, lol...
Maybe I'll start mining the mins to build one. Anyone have that data, and how much a BPC might cost me?

There's someone selling freighters out there for 1 billion a piece, as far as I know. They won't copy the blueprint because it would take a month to copy all the blueprints for one freighter build but only a few weeks to build one. If 1 billion is too much, I don't know what else you can do really. That's pretty cheap for a freighter.

Well unfortunately i don't think many will be making bpc's since a full set of them to build a freighter will take about 3.5 months. If its just a freighter bpc itself well that takes like 60 days last i checked. These things take a tonne of time to build and even longer to research or copy.

Id like to see a new 'light freighter' series come out, that has like 100k cargo space and similar restrictions to regular freighters, thats geared more toward solo/small corps. Ditto on dreads and titans.
Capital ships are nice, but if only megacorps/alliances can feasibly use them its basically just ubering up people who already have everything. So the best solution I see is to have them in different sizes, just like POS. _________________ [SAK] And Proud Of It! aka Cpt Bogus Is that my torped sig cloaking your base? |

They already exist. We in the buisness call them "battleships". _______________________________________________________

Im a solo player, well I have a corp that no one is in anymore. My point is that I will have both a dread and a freighter, so it is possible. I was origionally going to get a dread first, but since I need a second person whenever I want to move in it I think I'll get the frieghter first. Spelling corrections welcome, but don't expect me to edit my post. |

Edited by: DarkMatter on 10/07/2005 03:09:47 I thik CCP goes over the top on things sometimes... (They require more than just mins?, components have to be built as well?)
Freighters are not the extensions to Indy's I thought they would be...
Very dissappointing...

You build the components from mins, then the ship from the components.
Copy time for capital ship BPCs is 6 weeks. The comps are a few days, but only 5 runs per BPC. You need dozens of each for 1 ship.
I doubt anybody's selling a freighter yet. They take too long to have built one already.

Edited by: Keta Min on 10/07/2005 03:19:12 CCP got it right. You got the misconception that those ships would be extentions to indies or BS's and the avarage Joe could be able to afford one or two to move his stuff around or chain npcs.

Then they need to make extensions of indy's, and not something only the very rich can afford...
Only ones who seem to benefit from all these new toys are the ones who have more time in RL to play...
Not saying to allow me to get a freighter, but something in between that I can strive for...
30,000 m3 & 1,000,000 m3 is a big difference. Maybe there should be updates to indies without making them T2, and have bogus insurance, etc, etc which also make them out of my reach.
I never felt this way with EVE B4, but with this new patch, it seems the game is passing me by...
I never got the hang of being in a Mega-Corp and playing 1-2 hrs a day and ever accomplishing anything personally, for myself... I seem to help others get rich, but I'm always at like 30 mill, lol...
I guess I was expecting something totally different...
Maybe in the future CCP could be more forthcoming with info b4 the patch?

Freighters are not ships for the individual. They were meant to be ships to help with alliance logistics.
Oh, and how the interstellar starbase syndicate planning to build outposts if you are worrying about freighters? Come on, freighters are pennies in comparison. --

Actually if the outpost is a dollar, freighters are more like nickels.

did you guys see the requirements to build a outpost? besides the parts you need 382 million trit on top of all the outpost parts and other mins.. thats gonna be a problem to haul EVEN with a freighter... i wonder whose gonna mine that O.o

I'm talking about me personally...
I do have goals for/with the ISS of course, but we all have personal goals as well, don't we?
Don't get me wrong, I love the interaction of this game, I log on to interact. But sometimes I also look at my personal success in EVE, which for some reason has always been quite pitiful for me... (I'm not just talking about wallet size, being able to afford, fly & lose new ships is part of it as well)
Do the Capital ship components require moon mins?
Is there anywhere I can view capital ship build trees online?

sooo cant have a freighter, cant have dread, takes forever to move anything now due to longer travel times. Could really careless about outposts simply to far out of reach for me to care about. And no I am not talking about as an individual but as a while. Kinda like if someone said if I mine for the next 2 months they will put another station in jita. yippe
Yep thrills me.
I really havent found anything in this patch that got me excited.
Only got 1 additional entry into .0 in the region I live that didn't really help anything.
Oh well hum drum is about all I gotta say about the entire patch.

Dreadnaughts and Freighters both use jumpdrives, so you can't use either one of them solo. ___________________________________________ ^^^***---All things serve the Beam---***^^^ GDBT is recruiting! |

Where can I read about jump drive operation, why does it take more than one person?

Only dreadnoughts, not freighters, use jump drives.
Freighters are certainly cheap enough to run solo in empire for trading. I expect them to cost around 1.5 billion--not bad at all.
All they require are a bunch of standard mins, cranked through a few factories. Nothing fancy. --

Crap, I was hoping they would require some "low end" moon metals...
Thx for the info...

Freighter Build time
1,280,000 second. With skill, 960,000 seconds (11.111 days).
For Gallente, Cargo Bay is most needed component, 88 of them.
Component build time
16,000 seonds With skill, 12,000 second (3 hours 20 minutes) 88 x 200 minutes = 17,600 = 12.222 days
12.222 + 11.111 = 23.333 days
Multiple Component BPOs would be an option, but they cost a fair bit.....

Who was it who had that idea of compressing all the trit into passive targeters, filling a freighter with them, getting someone with max refine skills to refine it all
You could theoretically tansport an insane amount of trit

It would take a few years to build the targeters though. --

There should be something to fill the gap between a freighter and an indy. What most people really need is something with 50000-100000m¦ cargohold so they can pack up their mining operation and move to a fringe system for a week, grab some ore away from all the thieves and griefs, and then take it all back to core systems without doing ten runs or having to move all the ships seperately.
