You haven't been stupid, it just hasn't been revealed. Originally I planned on revealing it when the sequence ended, but due to a certain feature not making it in that was scrapped.
The Angel Cartel were behind the kidnapping in the beginning, which was blamed on a local pirate faction. Their aim is to stir up conflict between their rival pirate organizations and the authorities, which coincidentally strengthens their own position in the region. With the New World Order, conflict has escalated between the two major pirate blocks, which is another reason for the Cartel's meddling.

The biggest problem with battleships is that everything can hit them without even trying...
Much better to not be hit - well, hit less anyway. I just completed this one in an Enyo with T2 AB. It wasn't easy, but by no means is it impossible. Frigates 4tw.
The briefing does make it very clear that you should warp out right after destroying the primary target. I've no complaints... difficulty was about right for an AF. You could lose your ship, but only if you make a mistake.

Edited by: ThePolitician on 21/07/2005 20:30:11 Hi,
just did the mission (Angel Strike 10/10) in a Raven, must say ....
MANY thanks for the warnings about what to hit first. First had to fly to the third warpgate, then just flew straight at the chapel (tower). Didn shoot untill the 5 ships surrounding it, started shooting at me. Killed them, layed my ship untop of the chapel. Aligned for warp and waited for full cap.
The turned on 5 named hardeners 1 large shield booster and started shooting at the chapel. With 5 torps en 3 turrets, it took less then a minute to blow it. And as promised the two large blobs with 8 BS (omg) and support vessels started shooting with first small missles only (there faster duh). Then i made almost the dumbest mistake ever. I saw my loot in the chapel at 1700m the other way I was aligned. And i thought a wtf, lets just turn around get it and warp out. In the mean while i could tank the damage pretty easy. But when I opened the BS'es got close enough for large laser stuff. And I saw my almost 100% shield, armor and structure + full cap, hardeners and all go down in under 10-15 sec. I hit my autopoilot cause i couldnt see anything anymore (to much explosions and carnage).
When i warped all was down except 30% of my structure (under 15 sec ).
I'm still shaking !
But thanks to all the talk in this thread at least I was prepared, otherwise I would've died 4 sure.
Thanx M8's!

Just to clarify for anyone unsure, you can in fact kill the tower and warp, then return afterward to scoop the implant loot.
After a combination of my own stupidity and lag (all those explosions from the BS fleet's missiles sure do slow everything down) cost me my enyo, I was able to take an mwding vigil back in to scoop the loot (and my can ) without being aggressed to my surprise. |

But then returned with a corp mate and took out the BS groups, megathrons with 1.5mil bounty. Nice earnings for the last part of the mission (including the 2 implants).
I really enjoyed this mission!!

Or do I just drag out the missions for the next 2-3 weeks while I train HAC?

Slightly off topic, but did anyone get a 7/10 mission in this sequence that worked properly and dropped the prisoners?

yup mission 7/10 worked fine. mission 9/10 which was a similar get the prisoners mission was the one that failed though. seems to be the people in the can missions in this sequence that can fail but not consistantly

One of the best missions i have done, no problems soloing this only 1 of the 10 gates didnt drop prisoners and had to petition. Got help from 2 locals after blowin the tower and made some nice bounties, +5%dmg mod, +3 mem implant, mil final bonus, started lvl III's ounce more just so i can get this offered again.

I did all in a harpy, got the +3 int, +5% hybrid med implant and warped out on half shields while all ships fired at me.
Kill the first group of cruisers and frigates that attacks you at the last level, no other group will attack you. Approach the tower at optimal range, use anitimmater ammo, start shield boosting, kill the tower, scoop the implant, align and warp out, or just use the autopilot. Piece of cake. I have corpmates who did this mission in a thorax and warped out on armor.

How "doable" is this mission in a caracal? I usually do all lvl3's with this so I'm wondering how much a step up it is from normal lvl3's.
Also how long does it take to go from the first to the last part? I've just been offered the first part but am really busy at work atm and I'm on holiday for a week, from next week. Probably only got a few hours over the weekend so would I be best to let it expire rather than start it?

missions 1-6 = doable in caracal 7 = doable in caracal, but if u get a biggger ship and kill the BS, u get nice loot 8-9 = can;t remember - probably doable in caracal 10 = needs a BS, AF or HAC

The tower/chappel will not always drop an impant. I got a hardwire for one of the two series I did.

I've done this mission series twice now. The first time, the 7/10 was bugged and had to be reset by a Gm. The second time, 7/10 worked fine, but 9/10 was bugged. Again, had to be reset by a GM. That said, the series was still a lot of fun to do. Used a Raven the first time; killed the guardian cruisers, then set my drones on the chapel/tower. The drones drew all the BB agro, so I didn't actually get shot at until the tower blew up. At that time, the battlegroups immediately switch targeting from the drone to my Raven. I grabbed the can and managed to warp out with about 70% of my armor left.
The second time, I thought I'd be a little tricky. Since it took so long for my Raven to warp out the first time; I decided I'd use a fast cruiser (Thorax). It worked perfectly right up to the moment that the tower blew up. I discovered then, that a Thorax doesn't hold up well to the pounding of 6 interceptors and 6 Megathrons. Well, I piloted my little pod back to the station, climbed into my Incursus and went back to loot the Tower can. Then turned the mission in to my agent, still in time for the bonus.
Still had fun, even with the loss of the Thorax. Managed to recover most of my drones by scooping them into the cargo bay of the Incursus.

I used a Zealot and a buddy in Apoc.I aggroed the first blob and started moving away, that way I was out of the Blood Apocs` turret range and tanking their missiles in HAC is a joke. The rest is in my buddy's gankapoc hands ^^

I did that in my ishtar. Or tbh they did my ishtar.
The first 8 the usual boring, move this, kill that missions. 9 is a surprise since it didn't drop what I needed (petition). And 10 was a lesson in reading. I moved as fast as I could to the structures, blowing them up. getting a +3 willpower implant. But I continued to blow up things without seing I got aggroed from the bs's. 'nuff said. I had to buy a new ishtar.

IF anybody has a doult this mission is as hard as any lvl4 mission. The way i would do this mission and have helped people do this missioon is quite simple 1 tanker 1ganker 1person tanks like crasy the otehr does pure damage and if you start with one group( i start on the left ) then the other groups don't aggro you, in other words treat this like any other mission do 1 aggro group at a time
There's no such thing as madness, just diffrent degrees of normality. |

look, listen: U ARE NOT MEANT TO KILL EVERYONE!
if u were, this would be much harder than a lvl4 - but this mission is just supposed to be setup for someone to clear the first 2 lvls, then jump into the last, kill the structure (tower in guristas one), BM the can then warp before the BSs destroy you
its esaily soloable in any BS (cept maybe a dominix), any HAC and any AF - that thing doesn't have much health, and the BSs can't touch a smaller ship, while the other stuff is out of range

You don't have to open the can to complete the mish?

Edited by: Trinity Prime on 29/08/2005 18:26:39 Mission 10 seriously needs recalibration. I took out the 3 tower cruisers, no problem. Warped out and the 2 blobs reset. Problem then was when I went to take out the Tower. That was no problem with a cloud of drones, but the blobs just tore my Dommi apart (fully tanked). The Social Implant was already picked up and was lost when the cloaud of missiles tore me up. It seemed to take a long time to get into warp and I was all ready aligned.
My reccomendation is to snipe the tower, bookmark and come back for the can after you have talked to your contact.

It's one case where you really don't want to do it in a BS unless you have really long range. I did it in a caracal and their cruise missiles were doing 40 damage to me, so I was never even remotely close to dying.

Sniping the tower and warping out is definitely the way to do it, unless you like risking your ship.
I had absolutely no trouble doing this in a ferox. I took the tower out from 40km (not very long range sniping I know ), and had plenty of time to warp out.
This while only using a small shield booster II, and I never felt I was going to lose my shields before warping. I think anything cruiser or better can complete this w/o risk if you play it right.

I did the final phase in 1.5 caracals.
I created a 'suicide caracal' with 5 heavy missile batteries, kinetic and thermal hardeners etc.
Once the way was clear, I went to the tower, aligned out, fired, and then warped out.
I misjudged the first one, but the 2nd caracal made it out with some hull to spare.
So it's definately doable, and the way I figure it, a +3 implant is worth a caracal or two, especially since you can insure them.
