Jesus Chist you've gotta be kidding are my first thoughts...
This is a 3 part deadspace mission that you need to complete in 40 minutes to get the bonus (Which in my case was going to be a +5% Hybrid damage implant). The 3rd part of this mission has 8x webber frigates, 9x other frigates, 8x 1.5M bounty Ravens that can hit me from 90KM for 400-500 a shot. 15x crusiers. All this lot agros me at once as soon as I fire a single shot at anything, and yet I'm to somehow destroy all of this (and don't forget the two prevous stages) and then their Control Tower in 40 minutes!? This is a Level 3 Mission for goodness sake!
40 minutes is wholly unfair for this last stage, and removes the reward I was expecting after getting like 15K with a 15K bonus a mission for the last 9 stages, hell even this stage comes with a reward of 19K only!
Anyone else think this is a tab unrealistic?

there have been bugs in previous patches where you would get spawns in lvl2 missions meant for lvl4's and such, bugreport it with the mission name etc.

A bs in a level 3 mission is clearly a bug.
Bug report it.

I petitioned and the GM got the agent to regenerate the mission and the same one came up suggesting it's meant to be this way.
However the briefing referrs to 'The Girl' which implies the story has been building up to this rescue mission, but the last 9 stages were about a Gurista's invasion no mention of a girl anywhere.
Anyway when you get to the deadspace the control tower is only protected directly by 3 cruisers, but the second you hit them or the tower the two big blobs on either side move in for the kill. Two Large Acco can't withstand the torpedo barrage for long and I have to warp out. I guess if I fly half way around I can engage one blob at a time, but this is still painful with 4 ravens spitting out torps, could kill one warp come back, kill next etc., but still impossible for 40 minutes.

You really need to bug report it.
Regenerating a bugged mission will give you a....bugged mission.

It may be that this is designed so that you destroy the ct and get out to complete the mission, but for lvl3 it is clearly overkill.
Some dev comments on this would be nice.

I don't see why 1 BS in a level 3 is over the top. I would think it would present a nice challenge for some so i hope it's not a bug

I did this mission yesterday from my level 3 storyline mission agent. All 10 of 10 parts, some of which have multiple stages. As I recall a couple of them are just filler, ferry this, pick up that. The most fun mission running I have had to date, that last part really wakes you up when you come across rats worth about 12 million in bounty in a level 3.
If you read the details carefully on the 10th part, the only thing you need to do is blow up the tower, you need not kill the bs's or any other ships. Of course you need to wipe out the ones that are sitting 6km from the beacon first to be able to warp away in the third stage. Having said that, I will let you know that by the time my apoc warped after killing the tower, I had no shields, no armor and 50% hull.

Thought that may be the case since the mission doesn't mention delivering 'The Girl' in the objectives part, only in the briefing text, but it does say if she doesn't survive just get out. I guess this means that she never survives for you to rescue since you're not required to deliver 1 unit of 'The Girl' to your agent.
Another odd thing about this whole series, one of the earlier missions has you come up against a 250K Scorpion (optional, but easy anyway), after that mission in all of the other ones the cruisers were dropping BS size loot. I found a 1600mm Rolled Tungsten and a 425MM Compressed Coil Gun to name a couple of decent finds. Did you find this too Spiker J?

Well I did it, and got the time bonus +5% damage implant with 10 minutes to spare.
I just went right for the Control Tower which is surprisingly weak, I got out (eventually) with full armour hp. This time they didn't seem to overcome my tank, but the dozens of missiles don't help when you're trying to align for warp, I was already facing the gate I needed to warp to and it still took 20 seconds to align.
I went back after I completed the mission and the Control Tower had dropped a Basic Social Adaptaion Chip.

Well I didn't find any named large modules, but I did end up with a siege missile launcher and 3 350mm rails. For me the tower dropped a +3 int implant.

Lost a typhoon to the similar Guristas strike, wasn't perfectly lined up for warping out, killed the building, but the constant missile first made my warp take almost 30 secs, started warping .5 secs too late, and died mid warp.
lost mission bonus (some retarded implant) and got 40k for the mission (maybe 100k total with previous bounties)
This mission is NOT worth the risk vs reward at this time.

Edited by: Kulat on 11/07/2005 11:43:21 i found the bs ( or any of it ) wont attack till you attack the control tower , which is actually the only objective . so i just killed the npc round the tower , flew right up to it , poped it grabbed the can ( +3 inplant for me ) and ran like hell
this was 10/10 gurista strike , i found 2 of the missions bugged and wouldnt complete or drop the objective . ... anyways the point is the bs are optional .... more or less ================================ Im bound for Botany Bay... i like pie ! |

In this mission you're not supposed to kill the battleships, they won't aggro until you attack the structure which is your objective. Trick is to go in with enough firepower to take out the structure fast, before the battleships get to you.
The problem however is that the missions use the default timer to begin with to detirmine the bonus timer, unless it's using a hard coded value. I changed this mission so that the implant is the basic reward of the mission (not time bonus reward) and the time bonus is hard coded. This change will make it out tomorrow in the hot-patch.

I lost a BS and a bunch of expensive mods to this mission as well. The problem in my case was that I was webbed and scrambled before I could align and warp out and my tank couldn't hold up anywhere near long enough for me to take out the scramblers.

Edited by: Asima Si on 11/07/2005 13:01:19 Here's a trick that helped me. Use drones to attack the structure. The ships will all target the drones (which were able to absorb at least 10 cruise missiles from the battleships -- Yay for missile changes!). Once they aggress the drones, you can activate your own weapons and take it out. I made it out without a scratch.

I got it as a storyline mission from level 3 agents. Fortunately the run of 10 wasn't a net loss for me as the previous two missions gave out capital ship skills as bonuses but it still sucked to lose a BS.

Stage 5 bugged for me, I cleared out everything in the deadspace but it wouldn't end the mission and a GM had to make the agent offer me part 6.

Edited by: Konoko Kusanagi on 11/07/2005 18:00:14 I killed the structure, looted the perception +3 implant and warped out without even losing armor. The trick, gentlemen, is to not use a battleship. The Enyo worked fine for me :D.
Of course, having to kill everything with a small turret meant I lost the bonus reward :P
Edit: I did Guristas Strike, though, so there might have been different battleship types involved.

Well i'd just like to thank whoever suggested to send in drones first. Made this part of the storyline so much easier. I used a prophecy and got out of the last part with 60% shield. I moved towards the control hub until 35km then sent in the drones, and sure enough everything started blasting them. So i wated for the BS to start pounding the drones until i opened fire on the hub. It went down quickly and i started to warp towards a gate (almost aligned up with my path anyway) and got out fast as the BS started to shoot me. In this final stage i only killed the small group as you warp in.

Edited by: Jack Brimstone on 13/07/2005 09:35:58 I had this mission series. On the 10/10 mission you only need to take out the 3 cruisers guarding the Control Tower and then the tower itself on the last stage.
The fleet of bs only aggro you when you attack the tower, *not* the cruisers guarding it. Get out quick though, because webifier frigates zip in and try to pin you down.
I did this in an enyo. However, I lost the enyo at the end because I stuck around checking cans frantically (with enemy fleet looming) for the girl that is described in the briefing (briefing implies she is held in the control tower).
Got back to base and the agent said "np we found her drugged in another location, grr!"

U can't just kill the output then BM the can and complete the mission.. then come back for the loot after
if you go back in after killing the tower and warping out, all those BS will be nonaggressive again and you can loot the can. I got a +3 willpower from that, and a +5% medium projectile damage hardwiring as the mission reward.

it's random which mission you get.
why did I get more faction standing boost from a one stage non-deadspace mercenary kill mission with 3 frigs and a cruiser (2.3%) or a 6 jump courier mission in empire (1.43%) than for this ten stage deadspace series (1.38%)?

The name actually means the opposite of what you think, if you knew who was behind the 'incident' you'd understand.
have i been stupid and missed hu was behind all this while doing the sequence, or did it just not tell u?
please enlighten me zrakor
finally, altough many people have reported problems, it all worked perfectly through for me. i really enjoyed this mission sequence, and i loved having a sequence of story missions rather than just one at a time. i have since moved off to do some COSMOS in order to get more linked sequences. still, keep up the good work with these new mission sequences
(oh, and how many different sequences are there available from caldari state - i have done angel strike and whispers in the dark)
