So people want the zealot nerfed and the deimos boosted, funny how the deimos is already way more popular than the zealot. ------------------------------------------

W0lverine, you may be in my corp but youre making completely retarded statements. Please sod off.
Zealot is not overpowered. It pays for its easy fitting by a total lack of versatility, along with being immensily predictable. Its ****easy to counter.

What exactly do you do when your guns can't hit?
Harsh language?
You die.
Now enjoy your 30jump trip to empire in a pod to replace a ship that is worth a lot more then some t2 drones. ________________________________________________________

The thread was good untill the whole 'Zealot overpowered' thing started. If people lack imagination to beat something, doesnt mean someone else's setup and / or ship is suddenly overpowered.

Would you guys stop the bickering and make a "omg Zealot 4tnerf" thread instead of polluting this zealot setup thread.
this has been a good thread untill now, would hate to see it locked.

well how do i counter a 1600 plate zealot setup in my deimos? Even pushing nearly 600dps its not enuf to defeat it.
I dont necessarily think its the zealot that needs nerfing (though i do just cos i cant convince myself it can do stuff better than my deimos ) its just the ease of fitting a plate on one that kinda gets my goat.
Oh and why cant i comment on a ship i dont fly? Im fairly sure meridius doesnt fly an ishtar but hes always screaming for it to get nerfed. The ishtar is infact a damn fragile ship and is, again, easily countered. But thats a different subject altogether
oh and fitting EW to an ishtar is not that easy. Its lacking in the cpu department aswell as the grid department, but it makes up in other areas. Just thought id point that out

I didn't expect to hear this kind of tripe from you
I've never ever wanted a nerf for the Ishtar, ever.
The only thing i wanted nerfed was tech 2 drones (only tech2 items with zero fitting drawbacks). ________________________________________________________

Originally by: Julien Derida Edited by: Julien Derida on 01/08/2005 16:17:39 Heavy Pulses and Heavy Beams are very nice guns, but it's a shame everyone uses them to the exclusion of the smaller medium lasers. If you are clever about it, you can fit a Zealot that will beat the Deimos at it's own game(i.e. in a knife fight at close range). Ladies and Gentlemen, in keeping with the current craze for oversized plates and smaller guns, I give you the Platalot.
Here are two variants that I'm particularly fond of:
-------------------------- MWD Version
4xQuad Light Beam 1xMedium Nos
MWD 20k Scram Web
1x1600mm 1xMed Rep 1xThermal Hardener 4xHeat Sink --------------------------
AB Version
4xFocused Medium Pulse 1xMedium Nos
+ Same as above in mids and lows, but with an AB instead of a MWD. --------------------------
I've left out the exact modules you need to make this fit. It wouldn't be any fun otherwise
Both setups will give you 6k armour and between 300-350 DPS. I feel a lot happier flying my Zealot like this, as the Heavy Pulse setups always leave you vulnerable to a Deimos or a Platerax landing on top of you. This setup has nothing to fear in that situation. I've found this a much nicer ship for solo operations than the Heavy Pulse and Heavy Beam setups.
Hmm...bah I guess I need to train Adv Weapons Upgrades to 4, I'm off by like 30pg trying to fit those setups. :) ---------------------------------- I play EvE and I don't even get a stupid signature. |

Edited by: Farjung on 06/08/2005 08:16:52 Edited by: Farjung on 06/08/2005 08:11:30 Hmmm. I spent the evening moaning to my corpmates about this, until I decided it would actually be more constructive to look at ways around it. So, let's have a look how much you would have to sacrifice to fit a 1600mm plate on a deimos (omg thread hijack).
1600mm
Assumed skills: electronics 5, engineering 5, weapons upgrades 5, adv. weapons upgrades 4
Deimos with 2 x RCU II has 1,421.6875MW, 412.5tf
5 x electron blaster II (105 * 0.92 * 5 = 483MW, 33 * 0.75 * 5 = 123.75tf)
10MN MWD II (165MW, 50tf) / Faint epsilon scram (1MW, 24tf) / Fleeting web (1MW, 22tf)
Med rep II (173MW, 28tf) / N-type explosive (1MW, 32tf) / 1600mm reinforced rolled tungsten (500MW, 28tf) / magnetic field stabilizer II (1MW, 30tf) / 2 x RCU II (20 * 0.75 * 2 = 30tf)
Total grid: 1,325 / 1421.7MW
Total CPU: 367.75 / 412.5tf
So that leaves 96.6875MW, 44.75tf and a highslot free - not very pretty. And the cap's looking a bit shady as well - maybe dropping one RCU II to a power diag II and downgrading the rep to a small (it'll fit just about, if you knock a couple of t2 things down to t1 anyway), or alternatively ditch the rep completely for a second damage mod. Anyway, the point is that you can cram 1600mm + electrons on with two RCU II. So what's the damage like?
Assumed skills: Gunnery 5, rapid firing 5, surgical strike 5, med hybrid 5, med blaster spec 4, has 5
Damage mod per gun: 2.1 * 1.25 (med hyb 5) * 1.25 (gall cruiser 5) * 1.25 (HAS 5) * 1.08 (med blaster spec 4) * 1.1 (mag stab II) = 4.87
RoF: 3 * 0.8 (rapid firing 5) * 0.9 (gunnery 5) * 0.895 (mag stab II) = 1.9332
DoT for 5 guns: 5 * 4.87 * 24 / 1.9332 = 302.3 dps
DoT for 10 hammerhead II w/ Gallente drone spec. 4: 10 * 9 (base damage) * 1.92 (base multiplier) * 1.04 (spec) / 2 (RoF) = 89.856 dps
That's pushing a touch under 400 dps, whilst having a similar tank to the single plated quad light beam setup that Jules described. Not all that bad, although it's still slower than the zealot, and if the zealot's running AB rather than MWD the deimos will be forced a significant distance into its falloff more than likely. Boosting the Deimos' grid by 10-15% would be nice, but anyway.
And Eye: don't confuse Meridius with Selim ;D

I had a corpmate beat me in his Deimos vs my plated Zealot actually. We started at 16km, i was ABing away from him continuesly and i believe he did have a Domination webber on, so webbed me at 15k. (I webbed him back at 10k, clearly.)
Ill ask him for his setup.

You'll be running around with 6000+ armor, and 72, 88, 73, 74 resists.
Um, why would you do that on a zealot? You'd be doing such crap damage that you might as well fly a sac. And 2 RCU IIs :S.
This was in response to my retribution setup....everyone wanted to know if you could tank a HAC like my retri was tanked (with a lot of armor HP and good resists). The zelot is the only ship that can do this while fitting a full rack of the best damage dealing weapons. *shrug* I'm still 47 days away from flying a HAC anyhow, so what do I know

And is the Deimos not predictable too? ALl these Amarr fanboys just need to open their eyes and realise the Zealot needs nerfing. I HOPE THEY NERF IT TO HELL AND BACK. And that's coming from an AMarr. It is int he best interests of the game for ships to be balanced, not the same just balanced. No way a Zealot should be able to fit medium guns, 2 x 1600 plates, med rep etc. That is simply retarded and anybody who argues against that fact needs a good fisting. I am right, kthanx bye.

It can't fit 2 1600 plates and medium guns. Medium pulse/beam are small guns. Heavy pulse/beam are mediums. With the exception to Focused medium pulse/beam which are infact mediums. ___________________________________ |
