Hey everyone,
I'm fairly new to the game and have been occasionally mining to fund for much of my activities and business ventures in New Eden. I have spoken to a few people in game, about which strip miners to use, least to say I have both trained up.
That said, the first argument is for the strip miner II with crystals mentioning that it mines more per cycle.
Conversely, the second argument argues for the strip miner I was supported for higher efficiency as you were not required to change your crystals in mid-course and parsimonious in that regard.
Has anybody seen a significant difference among the two?
Thanks for any information concerning the strip miners. |

if you can use the strip II w/crystals, use 'em. the crystals last for a while, you can clear several belts before needing to swap them out. there really isn't a reason to use strip miner I's if you are already skilled for strip II's with the corresponding crystals. |

I just Google-d: site:forums.eveonline.com cabalander "modulated" and came up with this.
Miner I: 40 m3
Miner II: 60 m3
Modulated Deep Core Miner II with no or wrong crystal: 120 m3 Modulated Deep Core Miner II with T1 crystal: 120 m3 * 1.625 = 195 m3 Modulated Deep Core Miner II with T2 crystal: 120 m3 * 1.75 = 210 m3 Modulated Deep Core Miner II with T1 Mercoxit crystal: 120 m3 * 1.25 = 150 m3 Modulated Deep Core Miner II with T2 Mercoxit crystal: 120 m3 * 1.375 = 165 m3
Strip Miner I: 540 m3
Modulated Strip Miner II with no or wrong crystal: 360 m3 Modulated Strip Miner II with T1 Crystal: 360 m3 * 1.625 = 585 m3 Modulated Strip Miner II with T2 Crystal: 360 m3 * 1.75= 630 m3
Modulated Deep Core Strip Miner II with no or wrong crystal: 250m3 Modulated Deep Core Strip Miner II with T1 crystal: 250m3 * 1.625 = 406.25 m3 Modulated Deep Core Strip Miner II with T2 crystal: 250m3 * 1.75 = 437.50 Modulated Deep Core Strip Miner II with T1 Mercoxit crystal: 250m3 * 1.25 = 312.5 m3 Modulated Deep Core Strip Miner II with T2 Mercoxit crystal: 250m3 * 1.375 = 343.75 m3

T2 strippers with the right T2 crystals are far more effective than T1. The downside is that you need to replace crystals sometimes, and have the RIGHT crystal for the ore.
Highsec, same system every day? T2 strips and crystals. Venturing into lowsec? T1 strips. |

Yes for sure user T2 with crystals if you can. Try out my production and mining tool, there you can play with the different mining lasers and see the diffrence. you finde the tool here Want to know what-áis best to-ámine or build at which cost? then try out Dedaf's Industrial Tool: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=8074&find=unread |

not really, it's more the fact that the hulk, for example, can't carry enough crystals for all the ore types rather than actually having to click twice to change a crystal. "100k for notifications of stupidity, i love this bounty system." |

There are a few times where the reduction in yield using Strip I's is better. A heavy chance of getting ganked and you want to keep costs down. And, making a mining barge that is usable by all who may fly it (implies you won't be the only one using it).
Otherwise, use T2 strips with T2 crystals. "...its breakfast time and i am very hungry. may i have some of your paint chips?" |

I believe the figures for T2 strips are wrong. T2 strips with crystals get 360+360(*crystal modifier), so for T1 xtals they will be 945 and with T2 xtals they will be 990. |

Use strip miner I's when you're a bot and will not be in front of your computer for 10 hours at a time. Other than that there is no reason to ever not use modulated strip miners unless you are untrained in the ores that are available (null/wh for example).
Mining crystals last 8 - 10 hours. So changing crystals really ISNT an issue. Also if you have crystals in your cargohold they will automatically be replaced, you simply need to re-start the strip miner.
Basically to save yourself a few seconds of inconvenience of switching crystals every 8 hours will cost you: Strip miner I 246,719,721 MSMII 287,894,428 Total 41,174,707 isk over 8 hours for a few seconds of inconvenience. |

Thanks for any information concerning the strip miners.
Yes. I have seen a significant difference. My main miner brings in 1867 m3/sec, with Strip Miner IIS, and crystals, and implants, and skills. She can't get near that with Strip Miner Is. The crystals are a VERY LARGE hassle, but, even considering the cost of the crystals, she makes more ISK with them.
OTGH, never go to Null without a set of Strip Miner Is.

If I remember correct then Strip II + T1 crystal is 8% yield gain over Strip I and Strip II + T2 crystal is 16% yield bonus over T1 Strips. Might not sound like much, but in mining few percent yield difference can cost quite a lot, depending on how much you do it. |
