i've petitioned quite a few times..
First for losing my destroyer in a mission. I tried to warp out and my ship just sat there. Not like i cared about a destroyer, but still..
then the same thing happened to a battlecruiser, this was right afer complexes and they were bugged to all hell. I swore I would stop doing them. they gave both ships back
Then I tried a small complex in a coercer. I had spent quite a while training for amarr, setting this ship up properly, etc. I was going to have fun in that damn ship.. went to a complex and was owning the hell out of everything, then the whole game froze (lag, not lockup) and I couldn't do anything. I petitioned and *****ed at the GMs "I don't want my ship back but please fix complexes damnit" they never responded but my coercer showed up in one of my stations later. It wasn't that I couldn't afford it but I had spent all day setting it up and it just got blown up the first time I tried to use it by no fault of mine.
They eventually fixed complexes.. I can do em' all day now with no problem.
The first ship I petitioned was a Scorpion. I was fighting some BSs and was dying, so I logged out. Then like 30mins later logged back in and my scorp was OK, I didn't realize what time it was and the servers went down when my scorp was warping back to the NPCs. No clue how it happened but my scorp blew up.. I petitioned and they told me "too bad, you should have known". I guess now that I think back on it it definitely was my fault.
I petitioned twice for GMs to help take down my POS when we had trouble with crystals getting stuck in laser sentries. We were at war and I didn't wanna lose my POS, they wasted no time helping us out.
I petitioned once for a mission I couldn't finish.. it was for the elections. My corp was so excited so we all went to one agent who then told us to build some statues or something.. so my whole corp had this mission that we couldn't finish :\ we petitioned and all was good.
I fought some mercs in my BC and died.. no big deal, it was my fault (though I think I put up a hell of a fight). Anyways, my pod ejected and I warped out, logged out in midwarp (I loved that ship, it was a hard loss. Though I knew it was my fault and my fault alone). Later I logged in to make sure my POD was OK and to see if I had insurance payout, my pod was fine.. I logged out before my pod warped off. The next day when I had time to play I got into the game and I was inside a station.. apparently my pod had warped back to the camped gate and sat there while it was killed. I lost all my implants and 1 1/2years of being able to say "I've never been podded!" They wouldn't give me my stuff back.. that sucked really bad and I ended up quitting over it for 2 months. :\
those are all the times I petitioned. A few were stupid and probably wasted the GM's time but it was the principle of it. The complex thing, I was just losing destroyers.. but damn, I put a lot of work into those little ships.
