Something Kitty Mckitty said in another post got me thinking.... Yeah, yeah. I know. Don't think etc.....
Buuut, there's been a lot of talk over time, some for just plain old lols, about buying SP's etc. in game... Obviously buying SP's is akin to gold ammo imho and would be abused out of proportion. It's a pretty clear "no fn way!" from me.
I wonder though if the idea of redistribution of SP's has ever been discussed?
SP's to a player are a very valuable commodity, i..e. try buying a high SP char through the Bazaar.
Would it be in the games best interest to allow a redistribution of SP's for the individual every 30 days (for arguments sake). A little bit like attributes every 12 months but make it more much dynamic for players, specifically PvP'ers, FC's, alliance needs etc...
Would this be a suweeet option for you? Imagine, today I could fly HACS, tomorrow I could fly a Hulk (choke).....
- Would there be ramifications to Eve? If so, what would they be? - Would you benefit from/enjoy such an option?

Would only be acceptable if 50% of all redistributed skillpoints were permanently destroyed.
Otherwise I'd be able to buy a massive industry toon, turn it into a titan pilot, blow up your sov, turn it into an outpost building toon, build an outpost, then max it out to do whatever I want next. You'd have virtually infinite SP, and have no purpose to rely on anyone else for anything, ever again. |

The American public's reaction to the change was poor and the new cola was a major marketing failure. The subsequent reintroduction of Coke's original formula, re-branded as "Coca-Cola Classic", resulted in a significant gain in sales, leading to speculation that the introduction of the New Coke formula was just a marketing ploy |

and that
Also, I don't know how what I posted got him thinking about frequent SP reimbursments since what I was saying was just because a feature (like caps & supers) gets a rebalance does not mean it's reasonable to expect a SP redistribution simply because you do not like being FOTM any more.
At any rate it's been discussed to death and the 2 arguments are:
a.) Lol awesome, I pay money I should be allowed to do this
b.) This is dumb, encourages fotm chasing and makes a mockery of nurturing your character into a unique and beautiful snowflake.. GÖÑ Haviing your portrait painted here helps INTAKI Disabled Children GÖÑ |

It would also allow players to do say max perc/will and only train those skills. Then "respecing" their SP to a more balance skill set, that otherwise would have taken longer/used up remaps to achieve. |

Though I wouldn't mind having Mining 1 removed. Yeah, I get the FOTM thing. But why would it be horrible to the game?
I mean firstly, using Kitty's hypothesis about making "beautiful people", then you simply wouldn't use your remap so that's a non-event
I just can't see why me changing my skills around occasionally would or should affect you. The number of SP's wouldn't change and I'm not advocating buying SP's so no advantage there.
Is it because you expect the logi pilot you saw in your last fight to remain a logi pilot? So he turns up in a HAC instead. What of it? Take an aspirin. If pain persists consult your local priest. WTB: An Austrian kangaroo!

This is always an interesting debate. On the one hand a character must have something unique in order for the player to identify to it and on the other hand, since MMOs are an accelerated alternate universe aimed at people with limited time, the characters can't be too static. However, seeing how central the skill learning system is to the EVE experience, I would have to say that I believe that static SP is the ultimate element of strategy in the game and should remain extremely consequential. EVE its too vast for a new player to grasp fully and know where they want to go. EVE takes a long time to make any progress in. People change over time, interests change. Practiced skills continue to grow, new interests take root, and old hobbies fade away. I'd be cool with a once a year redistribution of SP. If there is an overwhelming trend to flocking to FTM, it just means CCP failed at balancing things properly. |

Fleet doctrine on ops is sooooo FOTM and changes regularly .
From this, imagine fleet fights! You expect Alliance X to turn up with a drake blob and they show up in armoured canes... woot, surpise!!

If they allowed you to basically revamp your toon every 90 days, this game would be no better than WoW. And we all know how lame that turd of a game is.

Because I had a well thought out post that was deleted, I am not quite flustered . So here is a short version of it... By the way CCP I hope you read this. Why does the new forum eat threads when you could simply go back to your post in the old ones? Yours truly, an avid forum lurker.
1. Redistribution should be attached to remaps.
2. You can only redistribute skill points that share the same primary and secondary into each other.
3. The amount of skill points that can be redistributed per remap should be limited to something like. 10% of the average amount of skill points all players are able to receive with none or +5 implants. 2,168,100 is what I came up with. My math might be very off, as it often is...
So long as CCP doesn't sell remaps I can see this as being fair. To all of those who wish to stay unique snow flakes. "Which just means everyone has a slightly different amount of sp in industry they don't want." Than I can agree with you to. I am just trying to put an idea forward that is slightly rational. CCP would never allow it as the reason that a lot of players play is because they are waiting for there skills to finish and there next ship to become active. if you allowed Distribution then everyone could try every ship pretty quickly and a large part of the player base would disappear once everything had been flown. |
